Sony is in the process of acquiring FromSoftware, according to insiders - It was nice while it lasted, fellas

Where have you been?

The first boss you fight in Demon's Souls is a creature that was derived from woman and her legions she commanded in life.

From even gives spotlight to Fat People and makes them a force to be reckoned with
View attachment 3199279

They've also been pulling the strong female character who don't need no man since Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. Like The Old Hunters was based around this specifically. Dark Souls 2 has a questline dedicated to a character like that and even Elden Ring has one that's tied to Godrick's questline and she helps you out to fight.

Everything has been there already, And you know what? King's Field had zero of this outside of fat people. KF4 specifically had fat fucks who hit like trucks.

The only game I think I played from them is Armored Core. It has zero tranny representation. Triggering.

I guess all their games will be woked up the arse now and full of microtransactions.

We're down to literally only 3 things left in video games that are still worth a shit, Nintendo, Capcom and From Software
No. Capcom has been slowly going woke. Look at Resident Evil 3 Remake and that leaked presentation. It remains to be seen if they're infected or not.

Nintendo has been stagnant for decades. Even if we count the Wii and the Switch, Nintendo fans only play first party Nintendo, and first party Nintendo is nothing but bing-bing-wahoo and nostalgia bait for 40 year old man children. If that's what you like, fine. But I personally wouldn't call expensive cardboard controller holders to play Mario 3 again "worth a shit".

the indie scene seems just as pozzed and creatively bankrupt in it's own way, I had a friend showing me Tunic but I don't like that minimalist graphics style.
I'm not so sure. The indie scene is mostly bland at the moment, but I think that's mostly due to me not having any idea what's coming out. Game journos haven't covered indie for a long time since they can't promote their friends walking simulators. Not that anyone reads game journos these days. I've seen a lot of videos for a game called Weird West doing the rounds, but I don't like cowboys or old school CRPGs. There was also a cyberpunk twin stick shooter I forget the name of.

I know people hate me saying this, but if you want middle market and indie games that compete with AAA, look into VR.

a new Armored Core would be nice.
Or anything that isn't Dark Souls with some minor change.

There's a reason skittle people on Twitter 'love' their games.
I thought Twitter people hated FromSoftware games for not including an easy mode?

And then they released RE8 with big titty goth vampire mommy who likes to step on you, so they don't seem to have gone full Woke yet.

They've had a hot streak these last 5 years, but I feel like SF6 will be the canary in the coalmine for where they go from here, for now at least I see no reason not to be optimistic.

You're buying too much into negative stereotypes about Nintendo's audience, Breath of The Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Metroid Dread are some of the best games released over the last 5 years (and a little change)

Good game design is good game design, what's fun to play is simply fun to play even if it's "bing bing, wahoo!"

I agree Nintendo could take some bolder risks and do more stuff like Eternal Darkness, but they're in a very solid, respectable place right now, the best they've been since the GameCube days imo.

This is another issue is there's so much indie shit out there it's hard to navigate, I get choice paralysis.

As much as I love the Dark Souls formula it would be cool to see them branch out into something different, I'd love to see them reboot Echo Night for example.

I thought Twitter people hated FromSoftware games for not including an easy mode?
From has plenty of Woke fans, it's mostly journalists who are whining about the difficulty.

Your OnlyFans egirls types for example LOVE From's games or at least pretend to, but given the difficulty if you're actually playing through them I would think one's fandom would be legitimate.

Or a new Enchanted Arms game or Kings Field.
“You ready for THIS? Eyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”

I've always liked the unknown games before they hit it big with Dark Souls.
First game of theirs I played was Echo Night Beyond on the PS2, fascinatingly strange little game even though I was never able to beat it due to some really obtuse puzzles at times.

Later when they hit it big I went "oh yeah, the Echo Night guys" as my initial reaction to seeing their name again.

What makes From cool is their games still very much have the spirit of oddball Japanese games from the PS2 era, they even kind of LOOK like those games, just more advanced.

It's wild to see so many people make the realization of something I've known for a long time, the coolness of oddball Japanese games, but it's also depressing to know how many of those games of the PS2 era could have had bigger financial success had the audience today been around and the ability so spread word of mouth like today.

How many of these younger fans have never even heard of something like Illbleed, which would absolutely blow their fucking minds with it's weirdness.

VR was never AAA tho, unless you mean some rare stuff like alyx or squadrons, and even that I'd consider more AA. anything else resembling a budget is pretty much facebook exclusive. there's simply no money in VR, even less now after the hype died down years ago (facebook's only doing it to get market dominance for a possible future boom).

indies themselves are doing fine, but sturgeon's law and limitations of that that sphere still apply. so not every game is the new indie hit everyone is talking about nor will it have the production value of ubisoft games with 1000+ people working on it (otoh it also means it caters to demographics AAA long left behind).

mah nigga
to be fair, people did know about those, but back then the market was way smaller and less digital (so get ready to import stuff that isn't even fan translated) so their reach was limited, which made their numbers look worse in comparison.

hopefully with indie getting big in china (so the nips have to finally notice) there might be a resurgence at some point, same way it happened in the west.

Thing is Sony already owns shares in Kadokawa. It's already a known factor that Sony and Kadokawa has partnered in an attempt to corner the japanese media market, and it was already theorized last year that Sony was looking to buy From Software from Kadokawa once the partnership between the two was formed
less than 2% according to wikipedia tho, even tencent has a bigger stake. by that logic it's more likely from gets bought by the chinks (inb4 laws).

On one hand I don't like the trend of studios being gobbled up by megacorps. On the other hand, Microsoft kick-started this wave of faggotry and my seething, burning hatred of them transcends the realm of gaming and stretches back decades... so if this happening means microsoft fags get bent over a barrel and fucked and lose something they actually enjoy, I am all for it and hope it happens. The sooner the better. Microsoft is on par with Disney in terms of companies I wish would get the Moobys-from-Dogma treatment.
while it's sucks that's just natural market development of consolidation. and while they bought big names, what did they actually buy? what games does bethesda have they could just milk? what other franchises besides cod and maybe WoW did activision have? anything else they'd have to reboot and bank on name, and with everything turning to shit that scheme gets less viable by the day. meanwhile as mentioned FS just made gangbusters which will raise their price considerably, not to mention makes them less willing to get sucked up by someone else (which usually only happens if you're fucked with shit prospects - see bethesda and activision)

How was the RE3 Remake woke?
They deliberately made Jill less attractive, covered her up more, and changed her personality so instead of being reasonable to Carlos, she's an angry bitch. I don't remember if they gave a reason.

VR hardware still sells and the Valve Index frequently shows up on the Steam top 10. The top 10 list is based on revenue and not units sold so it is skewed, but still. To me it seems like the VR is in the weird position of having a $1000 kit to play $5 games, which is an absurd proposition for PC player but people buy thousand dollar phones to play shitty games with ads in them so VR might just not be "for us" right now.

Many companies own stock in Kadokawa. NINTENDO owns stock in Kadokawa. That's neither here nor there.

The amount of shares means nothing in this case. Both companies own small amounts, and neither is remotely close to owning a majority of the corporation. As for the Capital Alliance, that deal was announced at the same time Kadokawa announced a Capital Alliance with CyberAgent. October of that same year, Kadokawa announced a similar Capital Alliance with Tencent, and Tencent actually acquired a larger stake than Sony and CyberAgent combined.

Sure, but this was in regards to Sony cooperating with Kadokawa to make games from their IP and looking to acquire control over Fromsoft. None of this means it's a 100% certainty, but considering that Sony owns four times as much stock as Nintendo, has a official partnership to makes video games, and have been eyeing Fromsoft since Bloodborne one can't just immediately dismiss the rumors that Sony is looking to aquire comtrolling ownership of Fromosft from Kadokawa

As I said, none of that means as much as you would think, looking at the full context of the situation. Under that methodology, its far more likely that Tencent, who have done far more game studio acquisitions recently, will buy out Fromsoftware. One should be careful about using such weak anecdotal evidence to support a rumor like this.

lol
Okay
Explain to me what you mean by "anecdotal evidence", cause I think what you mean is it's "circumstantial evidence", and it's not like anyone has claimed it's dead certain that an acquisition will happen, but the rumors coupled with Sony's positioning the last few years makes it a better chance than none, and certainly better than any of their main competitors, if the current buying spree is to continue as people have been predicting then it's not unreasonable to listen to the rumors

No I meant anecdotal. Look, some analyst could come up right now and say that Tencent was going to buy FromSoftware, and it would have just as much force behind it as this rumor. That's even assuming Kadokawa is willing to sell a successful business at all. One should be careful about making past incidental info fit into a rumor to make it seem more credible. The same people pushing this rumor have been pushing the rumor for years that Sony was going to, say, acquire all of Konami's video game assets and IP, and allowing Hideo Kojima to do shit like finish Silent Hills. That rumor panned out to nothing, this probably will too.

What you're doing though is claiming that there's no evidence, people present circumstantial evidence making it possible to draw the conclusion that there's something to the rumors, and then you decide to simply ignore it. Nobody has said this is for certain, plenty of times these negotiations happen in the background and nothing comes from it, but it's weird for you to make such a fuzz . Someone in this thread tried to claim that Kadokawa is too big and that Sony doesn't have the resources to buy Fromsoft. I simply pointed out that Sony is way larger than Kadokawa and have both a large stake in the company and a official partnership. You then try to dispute the circumstantial evidence because you make the false presumption that Sony's stake isn't considerable, and dismissing the official partnership completely.

That you think Sony needs to own the majority of Kadokawa for this to amount to anything is financial illiteracy, 5% is quite a lot in a publicly traded company, much larger than nintendo's share, and although Tencent has 7% there has been nothing to suggest Tencent is looking to acquire Fromsoft, unlike Sony who has worked with the company before, expressed the desire for working with them again, and currently having one of their studios use the proprietary engine of Fromsoft to remake Demon Souls and possibly remaking Bloodborne.
Anybody saying this will happen for certain would be a fool, but there's a lot of wrong assumptions being made about the situation, and it's weird for people to ignore that both Microsoft and Sony have both been making big financial purchases the last year. And the claim that Fromsoft is out of their price range is ridiculous considering Sony acquired Bungie for 4 billion dollars while the entirety of Kadokawa is worth 2 billion dollars.
