Source of your Username

I made mine up when i was around 10 or 11, was signing up to an Avatar The Last Airbender forum and had recently watched Alien and loved it

I read too many comics, and I like Hellblazer better as a username than Sandman, Power Girl, or Punisher MAX.

Brother, the source of my user name is complex. It is the result of years of training, saying my prayers and eating my vitamins. It is protected by the awesome force of Hulkamania and the 24 inch pythons, man.

Mine's a nickname... the word "sovande" ("asleep" in Norwegian) with an i in it to make it sound more pet-namey I suppose? Given to me by a friend after I slept through a fire alarm, funnily enough.

It just means "were you sleeping?" (said to a single person) in Latin. It's from ECCE ROMANI, a textbook used to teach high school students Latin through short stories detailing events from an average (Patrician, I think) Roman family. The quote is a question asked by a slave owner to an apparently neglectful overseer. I used it when I lurked/posted at PVCC years ago and I decided to use it here, as well.

Old meme is old.

Considering a change eventually, maybe to Tank Girl or something. Always loved that comic/film.

Panasonic Youth is a song by The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Strewth is an Australian expression that I find funny, so I merged the two.

I initially only made my account to lurk the lolcow board, but the people here are so gosh-darned friendly that I ended up posting a few things.

I originally had an account on here simply called "Lefty". I couldn't access it because of some non-interesting stuff so I made another one.

As far as the name lefty itself its one of those names that doesn't have many connections to me. Left handedness has alot of symbolic meaning for me. I was born left handed but my teacher in pre-k taught me how to write with my right because superstition. Made my handwriting terrible and made my grades suffer as a result. Same thing happened to my mom except her family did it to her. My first gf was left handed. Some of my closest friends have been left handed. And I still spar left handed. One of my favorite Bible stories is about Ehud, a left handed judge who assassinated a king by drawing a dagger with his left hand and plunging it so deep in the guys stomach until he couldn't get it back out.

I guess Left handedness, to me, represents finding yourself and never letting the world tell you that you're someone else. Thats it. The "revenge" part just sounded cool to me and was in keeping with the "fighting spirit" motif.

Where does your username come from?

On here, I decided to name myself after a Wesley Willis song.

EDIT: Fuck, didn't notice there was already a thread for this. Merge please.

It comes from a Wesley Willis song, which I believe accurately describes the vehicle Chris Chan took to school. :alog: :alog: :alog:

When I was in high school in 2011, I was in the same band class as my crush and we were the only two trumpeters in that class. He was a huge flirt, and so kind of to indulge him I'd contradict him at every opportunity. One day, the band teacher was explaining something about part of a piece we were playing, and the crush said, "He's gonna call it a polymetric sesquialtera [a music term meaning "two time signatures occurring simultaneously"]." I contradicted him, and the band teacher did, in fact, call it a polymetric sesquialtera. From that point on, that phrase was an automatic argument-winner for my crush and he actually used it on a regular basis. I decided it was necessary to kind of honor that by making my username on another forum I frequent into Polymetric Sesquialtera. I used it as my tumblr URL, but then I got bullied off tumblr and decided to rename myself on all the places where I went by Polymetric Sesquialtera in order to avoid people possibly making the connection and bothering me again. I really liked the idea of having a music term as a username, though, so I went to a page of Italian music terms and tried to find one that could work as a username. Altissimo was what I got. (It refers to the highest register on woodwind instruments, even though I play the trumpet.) Then, when I signed up for these forums, I decided to use the same name.

Great story, right.
