This site was made in like 2012 you goober. That's not an era of Wild West internet by any stretch of the imagination. There's a dozen other things & kinds of people I could cite that demonstrates this place isn't a relic of the old internet so much as a sometimes-interesting crossroads for the current modern internet. Kiwifarms is good* but it's not for oldfags.

Regardless of when the site came up, it still has that same "Fuck you I'll say what I want" attitude of the olden days.

For example, I can say the following sentences without fear of getting banned: Gross trannies should end their lives and join the 41 percent. They're all dumb faggot niggers. The only reason the elites in Washington prop them up is to hide their own pedophilia. Epstein didn't kill himself, and the vaccine doesn't work. I think Joe Biden is a pedophile.

The fact I can say all of that and not worry about about getting banned? The fact that my only recourse for sharing my (entirely valid) opinions is maybe having people tell me I'm a dumb nigger or faggot or niggerfaggot? That right there is the spirit of the old internet. Yes, the site came up later than that era, but that is irrelevant. It persists here in the freedom of expression offered by a (small) moderation team that is only here to prevent the posting of illegal content or spammers, AKA what a mod team should be focusing on.

the site was much better before a gay russian with AIDs bought it out. The site from that point had a massive child porn problem that the administration did nothing about (instead they decided to make up gay rules and make a cult of personality behind the gay russian).

From everything I've seen said in various sharty threads, I believe the CP-spammers are to the sharty as the 2022 swatters were to the Farms. They are known, hated Discord faggots who have dedicated themselves to maliciously fucking with the site and don't represent the rest of the userbase.

On multiple occasions, there has been proof posted of the CP spam coming from people like Goth and Gilman on Discord - the same group of people behind this newest IP leak that destroyed the site. I think it is the peak of stupidity to paint an entire site's userbase by the actions of the people who just effectively deplatformed them.

If your issues are only with the mods for not cleaning it up quick enough, that's a fair criticism! It's clear that none of the mods or admins were fit to run an imageboard. But I just don't think the userbase deserve shit like this:

You know I respect the shit out of you Sprate, so don't think I'm trying to start a slap fight with you or anything. I found your post thought provoking, and I'm in agreement that the entire userbase isn't like that.

I've got no problems with the actual soyjack stuff, which is what the community should be about. Some of that stuff's funny - even to my old, out of touch ass. There's some good posters here that I didn't even know were members of the Sharty until telltale cultural signs became apparent in their posts.

Having said that, look at the post above yours that you (rightfully) rated deviant, and this particular post from March:

It's shit like this that leads me to believe the rot goes a bit deeper than just the admins and two posters who with their absolute degeneracy brought an end to the main site. We both agree that the admins are complete trash.

With the splintering, we're likely going to have a Sharty civil war on our hands sooner or later between the decent ones and the degenerates over who the 'real' soyteens are.

as sad as it is that this website died, and as gay as what I'm about to say is, I'm glad that I got to see this website through in it's golden eras (late 2021, early 2022) to the very end. The Jackbox/twitch raids were extremely gemmy, so were the raids on 'feqveens, the many different altchan wipes (including the shitty polish one and 711). Even if the entire booru dies and soyjak.city can't replicate everything, all the talent and hard work that went into this niche internet culture will live on.
