I came here on my own accord because I found things funny that peopel talked about and lurked for a year or 2 before joining. If your idea of "mainstream forums" is reddit or twitter that is very gay and I have never nor will i ever use those unless I am actually forced to at gunpoint, and even then there's a chance of me just not doing it.

Phew, I don't even know why but the idea that the Caveman guy from the funny Tomba 2 speedrun trooned out absolutely floored me for some reason. I've never been more relieved to have been gotten got by a trickster.

Genuinely inspired troll, really, because a speedrunner trooning out is a cliche at this point. Everyone I told believed it instantly.

Corporate enshittification lead to it going from a bunch of dorks speedrunning popular games to a bunch of pornaddicts playing games nobody fucking heard of. And unlike when Youtubers did that back in the day (which sadly also went to shit though not as shit). It was immediately seen as disingenuous. Just like how McDonalds used to have a playplace with gamecube demos of Luigi's Mansion and Kirby and the food while not healthy was still actually food, now is just a former chiropractor's office and the food is just as real as the science of chiropractic.

There were a lot of great moments of genuine humor and funny autistic sperg outs. A top comfy moment or trend was chair dancing autist. Don't remember what year he showed up but the guy became a pillar between runs. Same seat always jammin away without a care in the world. This is the only webm I have from him at ADGQ 2020.

Barring something unforeseeable, GDQ will continue with Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) later this year. "Has concluded" just refers to the week-long AGDQ marathon ending. If the event itself was shuttered I feel like just saying "Games Done Quick" (the organization itself) rather than the specific marathon would've been used.

Because when I saw speedrunners, I saw exactly what non gamers see when they looked at us gamers, lifeless losers who put way too put effort into a nerd shit for pointless acclamation and honestly, speedrunners do fit that particular description to a T. They put too much effort into just finishing a game as quickly as possible and its difficult understand the big why beyond seeking that record break and get all the pats on the back from online strangers (and thats it, no one IRL will stop you in the street and say "Its the guy that finished Quake the quickest!"). It seems natural this attracts those not exactly with the heathiest minds like a moth to a flame, creating a pretty toxic environment that acts borderline schizo and AGDQ is just a reflection of that.

Also their location is Tokyo? Why does Japan let troons move there? I thought they were more based than that. Does anyone know if they are even accepted in Japanese society?

My favorite part about GDQ will always be how they created an entirely separate event about women in speedrunning (Frame Fatales) and it immediately got infested and taken over by trannies.

All stereotypes exist for a reason. If there was never any truth to those stereotypes they wouldn't have ever been made. I don't know why you expected it to be the one stereotype not based on reality.
 
RTA Japan is a good speedrunning event. It's purely japanese and even though you can't understand a lick of what they are saying and they tend to ramble nonstop during some runs to an annoying degree, it's at least free of troon infestation.
Also they have more biological women speedrunning games there than all xGDQs from the last 10 years combined.
And unlike xGDQ, they have a wide selection of games they play through that isn't indie troon slop or just more Dark Souls copycat slop.

You won't be able to understand their explanation during runs, but you can at least see people having fun and you don't need to understand japanese to see that it's all around a good time for everyone.

Game variety does tend to be an annoying issue to me. At the same time, being a Japanese event makes them infinitely more susceptible to Japan's legal corpo autism, hence why Nintendo walked all over them recently.
