How running OoT never resulted in the loss of my dick I'll never know. There are so many fucking trannies, holy shit.

I have. It's a port of a MacVenture game. Shadowgate and Uninvited were also ported to the NES.

Really good game actually, but extremely odd choice to speed run.
Late, but I guess the MacVenture games were move/action based. Which means that if you used up all your moves/actions, bad things would happen. There's some random events too which might mess up a perfect run.

I guess in theory the challenge would be being able to memorize all actions + avoid random events. But yeah, odd choice.

For programmers like me, that kind of out-of-the-box thinking is inspiring and gets the brain grinding in very satisfying ways. That particular kind of innovation isn't necessarily useful anymore, but it serves to remind me that there is almost always another (potentially better) way to do something, no matter how tight and lean you think your algorithm is. Somehow that specific example also helps keep my head screwed on straight in terms of "premature optimization" for some reason, too. Dude writing Yar's Revenge didn't bother fucking around with it until it became necessary (running out of cartridge space and seeing sub-par performance), and by the time it did, the solution practically jumped out at him because it made a lot of sense.
Similarly, there's also the way speedruns can almost give you something of an inside look into games. Clipping through the level map to see it from unintended angles is generally pretty interesting, getting to see the area more as a 3D model as opposed to the immersive world it usually looks like. Same thing with the endless staircase from Super Mario 64. Obviously it's been talked about to death, but the BLJ skip on the stairs provides a pretty cool insight into how the devs were able to create the illusion of an infinitely-extending, seamlessly-repeating staircase, for instance. Like a "oh, that's how that works" type thing. Those autistic 'how many A-presses does it take to 100% SM64' fills a similar niche depending on how deep into the glitch/exploit side of things they get. Those are like crack for me lol

And like you said, as a programmer/game dev, that kind of stuff is really cool to me. I like trying to figure out how exactly different effects and mechanics are implemented on a technical level, and the way speedruns showcase these games' quirks and how they can be manipulated scratches that itch quite nicely. It's just a shame the speedrunning crowd tends to be so cancerous.

GDQ has the dubious “honor” of being so thoroughly pozzed that it even set off my alarm bells subconsciously back when I was an un-peaked gender respecter. I specifically remember my tipping point being that 2023 Cult of The Lamb run by a runner with it/its pronouns listed. The chat was being mod-nuked because people were pointing out that it/its pronouns are an especially retarded form of power trip, and I was just there enjoying my first taste of chuddy delight in years because even in my darkest, most SJW period, I had always maintained my belief that anything beyond “they” was pure attention seeking.

I have incredible nostalgia for the 2016-2019 years- my roommates and I would have the event running every moment we were awake, until we fell asleep on the couch. We would make a huge pancake breakfast on Saturday morning each time and sit around all day to watch. It’s not strictly the trannies’ fault that I can never go back to that level of enjoyment, but it would be a lot easier to swallow if the event was at least watchable these days.

Was this really true? I remember reading a post over a decade ago that claimed CavemanDCJ deleted his twitter, and this new trans account was a fraud.
It's bullshit. Somebody posted a video of him at AGDQ and he hasn't transitioned. Thank God.

TBF, I think the reason why people fall for it so easily is that it's fucking AGDQ. In that context, it's not that outlandish of a claim.

Correct answer - Dark Souls
I'll say, this is based. I liked listening to him talk about Dark Souls. It was very entertaining and reminds me of older speedruns from GDQ.

Also this guy holds the world record in a couple of the Dark Souls categories, which the other transxems can't even say about their obscure troonslop.

Gotta love a real passionate speedrunner in the sea of trash.

There are several tiers of mental illness related to speed running, the "break the game engine/rules" is the most normal one (relatively, still autistic).
This is followed by obsessive skill based speedrunning, that you can still be a functional human being as long as the games you do are actually popular to warrant interest.
Finally at the lowest depths there is the RNG based speedrun, which is straight up mental illness.

Since we're posting speedrunning gold, this was an ESA(Euro Speedrunning Assoc.) Silent Hill run where some english fag who was incredibly up his own ass got butthurt at someone sitting behind him eating nuggets.
Saw someone mention the absolute gold that was the Bonesaw Jax run.

This is who you want at your event. Entertaining runner, a great couch to play off of, and in-jokes that evolve with the run. The seething from the tranny janny staff was great too.
Bonesaw was banned for life due to this run too, just to show how no fun allowed the event has become.
Remember when GDQ tweeted to Canadian airlines with a profuse apology and Canada Air just went "who the fuck are you?"

This event is so depressing, I really liked the core idea of runners explaining runs while doing them live and I have enjoyed a few of these events in the past before it got too fucked up with all the tranny shit.
I unsubscribed from all the GDQ channels years ago for this exact reason, around about the time that ProtoMagicalDude started forcing his way into every aspect of the event.

Now I only watch the personal channels of runners I like, none of which have trooned out yet thankfully (although some are on the edge I just know it).

Lmao second time I've seen Punchy mentioned. From what I seen by watching a few of his streams, he downgraded himself to part time for his job because he wanted to make a profit off streaming. Dunno how that is working for him. I also watched him set a WR for an Uno game on playstation I think and while he still does occasional speedruns, he sometimes churns out essay style videos about obscure horror games. I think he often shows up on the horror GDQ hotfix with Ecdycis and appeared in RTA Japan way back since he knows japanese.
Also, I know that he's claiming to be asexual because he had to mention that for some reason. I think as a response to why he doesn't behave like a coomer from his audience.
Punchy is okay to watch sometimes. I enjoyed his Illbleed runs and the obscure horror games he runs sometimes. I don't know his woke level but he played this super lesbian furry game one time and still frequently appears on the horror GDQ with Ecdycis so make of that what you will.

>People still fall for the "Caveman is trans" meme in 2026 AD
Unless I'm missing something this seems like cope. Its a 4% drop. I mean yeah its no rounding error, but its not a deathknell either.
I'd say that for the standards of GDQ where they still managed to raise 3 million dollars despite a continuous decline in viewership, 100k dollars less is still a significant loss. You need to keep mind that a huge part of these donations is sponsor money. Even then, it's still not as bad as when they decided to host SUMMER Games Done Quick 2023 from MAY 28th to June 4th. You can compare views and donations across different editions here.

Do they use the donation money to reserve the venue and pay the organizers? How much of it actually goes to charity?
I'm not an expert on charity fillings (nor US law) but I'm pretty sure they take some cuts. I remember when Apollo Legend made a video about GDQ and some people in the comments pointed out that it's very common for charities to take a chunk of donations for administrative purposes.

But they did explicitly donate money from twitch subs and bits to cover expenses, including hotel cancellation fees during AGDQ 2023 (because Florida tried to pass trans genocide laws at the time or something). Well, maybe not so explicitly considering that it was written at the bottom of their twitch page.

GDQ used to bring in prime cows, we got so much milk from them but despite it being more autistic than ever its just brings nothing but disgust, there is nothing funny about a room of autistic AGP forcing everyone to take part in their fetish, its just gross.

Like none of these dudes see an issue that they are all hyper autistic and trooned out? like they don't see how its entirely environmental and not natural?
It started with just one troon and it spread like a plague.
