I don't know why people are so violently opposed to something that isn't that big a deal. I'm not making the argument that I want a full page spread of Batman getting fucked in the ass by Superman for diversity.

That in itself is not the issue - it's the handling of it.

It can be done well with some characters like Renee Montoya and Obsidian. But then it's also done ham-handedly with Iceman, which had zero build up aside from "Jean says you're gay now. Sorry, but I don't make up the rules. Now go be a flaming stereotype that you never were before."

Tim (possibly) going bi leans toward the latter, especially since it feels more like "this is the writer's wank material" rather than, "natural progession of the character". I'd be happy to be wrong, though.
 
Comics are for kids. Gay men are a very small percentage of the population and to the majority of straight people, homosexual acts are pretty repulsive. Even those who have developed a bit of a bi-fetish through excess porn generally baulk at the image of two guys kissing and similar romantic gestures.

Male-female relationships in comics feel like they have the option to be romantic, to be positive in conveying family bonds. Gay in comics feels like it's very much about hedonism and sex. Like it typically is in real life. And people rightly don't want hedonistic sex lives being portrayed to kids reading comics.

I know you're being facetious but these people WANT kids exposed to gay and trans sexual material because they think kids are these blank templates that will get imprinted on only male-female relationships and when they grow up find other sexual relationships weird. They believe that exposing kids to weird sexualities is a good thing because it makes a child more open to choosing these other lifestyles.

That sentiment is expressed in everything from wordy academic screeds to the San Francisco Gay Man's Choir singing "we're coming for your kids". The LGBT movement is actively trying to make kids gay and trans. Undercutting decades of gay men trying to convince society they weren't paedophiles. (Which most aren't).

I tried explaining to someone that all these fetlife, dog-masked, bare-asses in front of children pride parades made things harder for gay people in other countries because they're busy trying to say: "we're just like you. We just want to be able to love someone, we're not sickos and we don't prey on kids". And then on TV you see America with its Desmond is Amazing (child stripper), simulated sex acts in front of kids, furries and all that shit and the rest of the world goes "ORLY?"

Yep. There needs to be an active push back by gay people against the LGBT movement. There's "Get the L out" by Lesbians but the media never listens to Lesbians. Only "Lesbians".

never really understood this when the majority of Pedophiles I've encountered have been "straight" men.

my first girlfriends father was a pedophile, he had obviously fucked women, since she existed, but still decided to fuck her brother too.

always felt like to me that the gay rights movement had mostly accomplished everything they wanted to accomplish. things weren't perfect, but they had gotten marriage equality and didn't have to be worried about being thrown off a bridge for holding their boyfriends hand in public anymore.

then the trans thing exploded and the trannies saw the LGB and went "well, we don't want to spend 40 years fighting for our rights and making our own movement like those people did. so let's just take their movement."

it backfires because a looot of the third world is very socially conservative so showing Desmond is amazing and the SF Gay men's choir singing about coming for the kids is not going to get the results they want.

Many if not most pedos are pretty indiscriminate. They may prefer one sex to another but they'll fuck anything that's a kid if they get a chance, because it's the power and the predation that gets them off.
