The only people who do worse faces than Steve Dillon are Dan Queitley and Greg Land. I've gotten a bit used to Dillon over the years, probably due to all the Punisher stories he's drawn, but I'm still not used to Queitley.

Erica Henderson also makes some pretty butt-ugly faces as well.

I've grown to like the art for Squirrel Girl, although it did turn me off the series for a bit.

I want to thank breadandcircuses for suggesting The Flintstones comic. I've read the first issue and while it's dark humored, it does satire well without being crude or preachy. In a way, it reminds me of Dinosaurs (which also could get satirical), except darker. I also give it a credit for the heartfelt moment between Fred and Wilma when she discussed her art being rejected when she puts her heart into it.

I admit that I have a fascination-disgust relationship with the Wacky Raceland mini-series. It's amazing how much it fandom rapes the original show and tries so hard to be edgy, yet emotional. (Honestly, Dick Dastardly doesn't even cheat and angsts over his dead wife and kid.) I've been covering the issues on Project AFTER for the others' interest.

Future Quest is another one of DC's Hanna Barbara comics that's pretty good. It's basically the League of Extraordinary Gentleman of Hanna Barbara, and although it's a limited series I hope it does well enough to get an on-going.

Steve Dillon just passed.
I personally was a big fan. Rest in peace. :(
Damn. Now I feel bad for talking shit about him. That said, I'm a huge fan of his work on Preacher and The Punisher, so it's very sad to see him go.

First Darwyn Cooke and now Steve Dillion. (:_(

Aaron and Dillion's run on Punisher Max (oh sorry Marvel Max: Punisher) was probably the last good thing I read from Marvel before I bailed on that shit. I think it's up there with Ennis' run on the book.

John Romita Jr. A thousand times John Romita Jr, his faces are some of the worst I've ever seen.

Yeah, his faces are pretty bad but I seem to end up not reading books he's done the art for.

So I saw an interview with Christopher Priest.

And I'm kinda looking forward to what I'm pretty sure it's going to be a crossover of three titles. Deathstroke, Titans, and (If we're lucky) Teen Titans.

"The Judas Contract: RENEGOTIATED."

I have to admit, I like that they're doing more line crossovers without having to do a huge event.

Marvel doesn't let us recover from the first event, before we dive head deep into the next.

(The difference between an event and a crossover, is that an event usually has it's own book dedicated to it. Justice League vs the Suicide Squad is only going to happen on the pages of Suicide Squad and Justice League, for example.)

Edit: Your welcome for who all picked up the Flintstones on my recommendation.

Hate to double post, but what's everyone's thought on Mockingbird #8? I won't spoil it though!

Other than the annoying cover and it's the last issue, I don't know anything else.
Okay.

You know what?

Sure. Fine. I'll tell the story.

Back in WCA in the 80s, Bobbi Morse got drugged by Lincoln Slade, the Phantom Rider. The drug made her thing she was in love with him. So yeah, drugged and raped.

Then, later on, she's in a position to save Lincoln Slade. She chooses not too. Her and Clint get a divorce over that because Clint was in a no kill phase (he ain't no more!) and that's something happened.

Chelsea Cain got rid of the drugged and raped part. While married to Clint Barton, Bobbi Morse decided to cheat on Clint with Phantom Rider. Didn't like it. And then let him fall to his death.

And then when his ghost shows up, the fight never actually happens. Some fat nerd convinces his ghost horse to run off. The pirate skeletons he summons? Feminists. His phantom guns? He drops them after a pair of corgies wrestle him to the ground.

So not only do we get a non-fight, we also get a retcon that makes Bobbi look like a philandering sociopath that decided that Slade wasn't fun anymore and killed him.

/co/ was mad. tumblr was mad. CBR was mad.

It as beautiful.

Any of you guys read any of Alejandro Jodorowsky's (the guy who tried to make an ridiculously ambitious movie out of Dune in the 70's) comics? They're pretty fucking awesome. I just started reading the new Metabaron comic, and I'd highly recommend The Incal (illustrated by Jean Giraud aka Moebius, one of the best comic artists ever) or the original Metabarons to anyone looking for some cool sci-fi comics.

Wow. I had stopped reading the current run after three issues of nothing happening, I would have been pissed if I was still reading it. Did they ever do anything with the weird shit from the first issue?

As far as I know? NOPE!

I did know that Chelsea Cain sperged out about the way Bobbi Morse was portrayed in Power Man and Iron Fist, except it was pointed out that those writers were just following her lead in how Bobbi was in her main book.

The real problem, I think, is that Marvel doesn't have any Editors anymore, not really. No one like Shooter to literally slap the shit out of a writer for being dumb. It's this kind of bullshit that lead to the writer of A-Force not knowing what happened in Civil War II, despite the fact that A-Force has both Carol and Jen in it.

And there's plenty, plenty, plenty of LCS' complaining that people aren't buying Marvel books at all. Not with DC putting out some titles twice a month at $2.99.

It's just a god damned mess at the house of ideas.

Yeah, it feels like for every good thing Marvel does they do something stupid to match. For instance, the new Champions book is actually pretty good and looks like its going to focus more on them being heroes. The problem? It clearly takes place after Civil War II and potentially spoils some of it since 1) Miles is alive and fine which kills any drama from the cliffhanger from the last issue of Civil War II and 2) Some serious shit happened since Ms. Marvel apparently no longer looks up to Carol Danvers. Invincible Iron Man did the same thing by spoiling the end of Secret Wars by showing Doom with a fixed face and being (kinda) a good guy now.

DC on the other hand is shaping up to be really good, with none of the Rebirth books being really bad at the moment. They also have the Young Animal books coming out which seem to be following the Grant Morrison tradition of doing a fuckload of drugs while writing them.
