They claim it's to add a little bonus (which they could have in the issue itself since the code takes a page), but rumor is they're doing it to fight piracy

So now the rippers will just get the page, screenshot it or download it in some other way, and include it in the ripped release

And so, the pirated version is now the complete experience, while the physical comic is an incomplete product that will be incomplete forever if the site is unavailable (which it most certainly will be in less than 5 years, like the AR stuff they did some time ago).

Caught up with PKJ’s Hulk, good to see he’s repeating his shitty Superman run 1:1.

Banner’s female replacement is coming, Amadeus failed, She-Hulk returned to being a boner garage, but this kid, mark my words will become the next Hulk.

I fucking hate it. We even got cucked out of Vegas fun with my boy.

Skinwalking makes perfect sense as a tranny power, though.

In today's news, the new X-book, NYX, gave Prodigy an even zestier boyfriend with a fisting tattoo. :story:

Not gonna lie, felt pretty gross clicking "insert thumbnail" on this one.
Wait, wait, is this style of tattoo strictly a fag thing? I've seen dudes IRL with these... I am assuming it's to indicate how deep they already stuck their arm up another man's ass. Jesus Christ.
Don't forget that to see the final page for the X-books now, you need to scan a QR code to read it on your phone.

I'm not joking, they are that retarded.
What the fuck, why?!?!

Alright, do they think pirates don't have phones? :story: They surely must realize that at least one person in those circles bought the comic to provide the primary source for the rippers/release groups.

Dont want to get into politics too much but his position is ridiculously close to Mario Mielis position of antifascism. Mario Mieli was a gay italian communist who advocated for pedophilia cause he thought sexual repression leads to fascism.

They did it again guys....

Fuck Marc Silvestri. So...Witchblade is one of those things that makes you realize copyright is FUCKING bullshit!. Marc didn't draw the book. Mike Turner did. Dave Wohl wrote it, with Christina Z. But then the 90s ended, Turner got cancer, and ever since then Marc has been a fag, seeming to apologize for a sexy, feminine character. Ron Marz was cringe enough. But now they're bringing the character back!

The artist isn't bad, don't know what blackmail Silvestri has to get Giuseppe Cafaro to draw this shit....But Marguerite Bennett is writing. The bitch that gave us this...

But this talentless bitch's greatest sin is she makes every...single...woman...gay! Batlesbian, even canon straight characters like Angela (bitch got blacked, canonically straight or at least bi.). FUCK! she even created a LESBIAN Universe in bombshells. Is there one fucking straight character in that book?

So Marc Silverstein gives a character created by men. A toxically female character, a symbol of femininity; one of the last few created and hands it to this dyke bitch. Just fuck it.

I read the issue. It's bad. Everything that stood out is gone. Sara looks like the usual girl boss. She acts like one, with an approved body type (breast reduction and all), and dresses in shapeless clothing. Then there's the costume. It looks cool at first glance. But it's been neutered. The original was humiliating and scary. Of course Bennett misses the point....

The witchblade pre Marz was a horror. It was something She never controlled. It was humiliating to wear and terrifying. It brings back the dead but not really. It tears through groups of people. None of that comes through here. It's sanitized...
I didn't care that much about Witchblade, it was just something to add to the pile when I didn't have much else to read, but this doesn't surprise me. I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened sooner, with Gail "everyone needs to be bi" Simone taking a crack at the character and turning her into someone who might as well be an original character.

I'm pretty sure Bennet's only still getting work in comics out of spite.

I can't be the only one who thought the scene in Extraordinary Gentlemen where Pollyanna and the other girls get like....assaulted by the invisible man at the girls academy was disturbing no? Moore is fucked in the head.

That's nothing compared to some of the other stuff Moore wrote. Look up Neonomicon, it has really weird fish-monster rape in it. I really don't think Alan Moore deserves to have any fanbase.

Has anyone else seen these articles? Marvel have been adding in effect physical DRM to their new X-Men issues by blocking the last page with a QR code where you have to access the content you paid on a random Marvel server. Who knows if they even let these stay up beyond a few months for each issue. VP Executive Editor Tom Brevoort claims these were for anti-piracy measures and to stop spoilers and leaks. https://web.archive.org/web/2024072...bonus-scenes-qr-codes-explained-tom-brevoort/

Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman's X-Men #1 launched the X-Men's From the Ashes era with a new X-Men team and new villains known only as 3K — revealed not in the issue itself, but in a comic book version of a Marvel post-credits scene. After Alaska-based X-Men Cyclops, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper, Magik, and Juggernaut battled a team of Orchis-made new mutants, the issue snuck in an extra sequence: a scannable QR code redirected readers to a one-page "bonus scene" accessed through the Marvel website.

The trend has continued across Marvel's just-relaunched X-Men comics with Phoenix #1 and this week's NYX #1, which introduced major characters or plot points in online bonus scenes accessible only by third-party QR readers."It was a bonus page to begin with, an extra page — we didn't scale back the contents of X-Men #1 in order to do it," Marvel Comics VP Executive Editor Tom Brevoort explained on Substack.

"And it gave us a page whose contents we could conceal until the day of release, thus avoiding any early spoilers. You'll find that we're doing similar pages in most of the new X-launches."

"They're a little free bonus, a little extra — sort of a modern day equivalent of that 'Things To Come' page that ran in the first issue of the [Chris] Claremont/[Jim] Lee X-Men #1," the editor added, referring to the single splash page that ended the X-Men's '90s relaunch.

In a subsequent Substack post, Brevoort reiterated Marvel's anti-spoiler strategy and clarified that the bonus scenes would be inserted into the eventual collected editions.
"In this era of early spoilers, I love that this approach gives us the opportunity to hold onto some plot points right up until the day the title ships," Brevoort wrote. "So you'll see the pattern repeated in most of the other X-Launches of this era. We will include those pages in the eventual collected editions, though, for those who don't own a phone."

Upcoming X-titles include the relaunched Wolverine #1 (from new creative team Saladin Ahmed and Martin Coccolo) and Dazzler #1 (by Jason Loo and Rafael Loureiro) in September, followed by the previously announced Storm #1 (by Murewa Ayodele and Lucas Werneck), Sentinels #1 (by Alex Paknadel and Justin Mason), and Mystique #1 (written and drawn by Declan Shalvey) in October.

We're losing horrifically to japanese manga and korean manwha, what do we do? Oh I know, lets make it so readers don't actually own our shitty nigger worship lesbian shipfic comics, and make them have to scan a QR code on a site that'll be gone in four years tops.

Brilliant, just brilliant I tell ya

So you actually buy the comic, and they gyp you out of the last page. I can't see this going over well with comic book fans and collectors.

You don't even get the whole comic.

On the flip side, Marvel comics is no longer making money, and just serves as an incubator for Disney's movie franchise. Too bad ALL of the comic book writers left suck. They have chased off the real talent and sloted in losers and trust fund babies who will work for the least amount of money.

In theory, if they are talented and sell comics like gang busters, they a good comic book writer should get bonuses for massive levels of sales. But none of them have talent.

Watch as this doesn't stop piracy.
Plot-Twist: They already defeated piracy by making comics so shitty and the artists so toxic that nobody wants to pirate their books. You can't give them away for free.

Watch as this doesn't stop piracy.
As stated, it only makes the pirated copy the better, complete experience, while the official copy is incomplete, and will remain incomplete forever once they stop hosting the pages.

They claim it's not hiding the last page behind a paywall, but giving something extra.

Even if that was true (just like day 1 DLC totally isn't cut content), it's still a full ass page wasted. If the code was like a small one on the letters page or something like that, it'd be different.

I can't think of the last time I read a modern Marvel comic, which is sad. This also doesn't do anything to comic scanners, it just inconviences current and future purchasing readers. It actually incentivises scanners cuz they'll prolly do the work and it won't blueball/break the flow for the reader. Imagine getting to the end of any other form of entertainment and you have to wip out your phone to get the ending, Also fuck reading comics on my phone. Some comics use shitty fonts to begin with, couldn't imagine reading that at an even smaller size.
