This guy is Jim Zub, a comic book writer that is currently huffing his own farts over the issue of digital piracy.

The issue is the biggest story of the day, with various creators coming out and decrying piracy and those that practice it. Most are arguing that they are losing sales, some at tremendous numbers based on the download counts they see on sites.

Gosh! Maybe people wouldn't pirate comics if the big two would stop doing shit like:

1. Charge $5 for "event comics" that are nothing but useless filler *coughMillenniumcough*

2. Hype up events only to pull the rug out *coughBatman#50cough*

3. Take MONTHS between issues *coughDoomsdayClockcough*

4. Hire artists who draw like shit on purpose *coughSquirrelGirlcough*

5. Continue to push unpopular characters by giving them ANOTHER series after the previous one bombed (looking at you, Champions, Iceman, Captain Marvel, Unstoppable Wasp, and Gwenpool)

6. Constantly hire artists and writer that shit on their audience simply for having a penis and/or white skin (too many fucktards to mention, but Mags, Gabby, and Heather are the cream of the crap)

7. Relaunching a series after a year instead of JUST CONTINUING IT LIKE IN THE OLD DAYS. It is super tiring to see X-Men get a #1 issue for like the 5th time in 5 years, and even more tiring to see Captain Marvel get re-re-relaunched every year. STOP TRYING TO MAKE CAROL HAPPEN. FOR FUCK'S SAKE - WE GOT AN UNCANNY AVENGERS THAT LASTED 5 ISSUES BEFORE GETTING RELAUNCHED AGAIN.

8. Continue to give work to Tom King. WE GET IT TOM. YOU'RE SAD THAT MOMMY DIDN'T LOVE YOU ENOUGH AND DADDY NEVER CAME HOME. MARRIED LIFE IN THE SUBURBS IS AN EXISTENTIAL HELL BLAH BLAH BLAH. Also, fuck you for screwing up Wally in Heroes in Crisis.

9. Variant covers. Ok, I can see one or two for milestone issues. BUT 18 VARIANTS FOR AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #800? For the love of YHWH, please stop.

10. Hiring people not on the basis of talent and experience, but because they appeal to the Tumblr crowd. Boy, those AMAZING sales on America, Kim & Kim, and Goddess Mode sure made hiring Gabby Rivera, Mags Viggagio, and Zoe Quinn worth it, huh guys?

OK, rant over. Hit me with those MATI ratings, fam.

How many of those are people who would have bought it and how many are just obsessive torrent hoarders who download terabytes of shit they don't even read?

Maybe they should call their customers Nazi incels some more, I'm sure that will motivate people who can just pirate your shit to give you money.

I remember when the gaming industry was going down the shitter at the tail end of the 2000s and gaming devs couldn't shut up about piracy with several writing off the PC entirely because of it.

Now that video games are booming in the 2010s and PC gaming's arguably bigger than it's ever been I haven't heard a peep about it.

Strange that is.

So did anyone else finish up Absolute Carnage? I just read issue 5. It felt kind of phoned in. All the characters from the 8 billion tie in books show up and do nothing while Venom easily defeats Carnage with a big dumb sword and everyone just sort of leaves. Then we’re left with what is basically a teaser for another event.

I can’t wait for them to eventually retire this Knull character. He’s so fucking boring and I’m tired of hearing about how much more powerful he is than everything in the Marvel universe totes for reals.

That's kinda disappointing to hear. I was planning go through that once it was done and I could one of those big collected book. I've always loved the symbiotes, and wish marvel would do more with them.

On side note did they ever do anything with Toxin? They hyped him up as the most powerful symbiote ever and it seems they just ended up forgetting about him.

In recent history I think he showed up at some point in the Agent Venom series but I never finished the whole arc. The new big symbiote character is Sleeper who, like the others, shows up a bit in Absolute Carnage but doesn’t do much. They also brought back Scream for reasons I can’t fathom.

They actually had a cool one-shot called Absolute Carnage: Separation Anxiety that was all about the other Life Foundation symbiotes (all of them except Scream anyway) and they played a minor role in the overall AC arc as well.

Agent Venom was such a waste of a cool concept, you aren't missing anything.

Separation Anxiety sounds cool though so I'll probably check that out. I mean I'll probably get the whole AC arc eventually.

You'll appreciate Knull more if you're Swedish since his name literally means "fuck" (as in to have sex with, not the cussword). Every time I see a page talking about him my juvenile mind makes me snicker.

What a big brain take, even funnier when you realize that he is talking about himself (he hopes) in a decade or two.

UGH. I went through all 80 issues of King's Batman run, and he's recycled the tediously long Knightfall saga from the 90s into an EVEN LONGER version of it. EVERYTHING from issue 1 onwards was all a huge plot by Bane to screw with Batman, with the only difference being that the Flashpoint Batman (a version of Bruce's dad that lived instead of Bruce and became Batman) is helping Bane because he doesn't want Bruce to keep being Batman.

This is just dumb. Ok, Bane is clever, but for everything to work like it did for that long is implausible, especially when loose cannons like the Joker, Two-Face, and the Riddler are involved. On top of that, some of the multi-part stories get interrupted by OTHER MULTI PART STORIES. I'll be finishing "Story X, Part 4" only to get "Story Y, Part 1" next issue instead "Story X, Part 5", which comes several issues later.

I can't wait until King gets off the book so Batman can move on to other villains. It should just be retitled, "Tom King's ode to his waifu Bane, complete with lots of naked drawings of him"

I’ve been more on the off side of reading King’s Batman on-and-off and what I did read was mixed. His romance stuff is awful, but when Batman’s being mopey and introspective (arguably out of character) it’s fairly good. That whole chapter where he goes into jury duty to help Mr. Freeze get out of jail time was really excellent.

All that said, I haven’t read it for months and, while the idea of Flashpoint Thomas Wayne coming back to stop his son from being Batman sounds really cool, tying it into some years long arc that amounts to Bane jumping out saying “It was me all along, yuk yuk yuk” really deflates what could have been a cool follow up to The Button.

I really don't understand King. Mister Miracle started out pretty exciting, but by issue five and six I began wondering what in the hell was going on because a character arc for miracle wasn't occurring yet. Usually at the halfway point, you want to see the character grow and learn.

King has this weird problem deconstructing his main characters for 90% of the story, to the point where there's nothing left and the reader no longer has any respect for that character. All his male characters are wimps and his female characters are all mommies taking care of the male baby leads.

I picked up the grayson omnibus and will probably start reading that soon. Hoping it'll be different. I've heard his Vision stuff was pretty good.

Both Bane and Jean Paul Valley should've died in Knightfall. Neither of them served much of a purpose after the saga (although I did like Bane in Secret Six... but that was after like twenty years of shit stories with him).

I tried it after hearing about all the hype, and it's just more Tom King Sadness Porn (tm) , much like Heroes in Crisis and Mister Miracle was. Don't get your hopes up too high.
