Spider-Man into the Spiderverse

Yeah definitely, I guess they were worried about overstuffing it or having to explain away that Gwen Stacey being a superhero is the outlier and there's multiple versions of her. If you're a newbie that could be confusing since MJ is THE definitive woman of the Spidey canon because she's the fan favourite.

Well she's been in way more adaptations so I suppose that's to be expected. This is such a love letter to the fans though I'm surprised they balked at that.

Oh well, I was always more of a Felicia guy myself. Now there's a character that will never be in one of these.

Oh yeah and SpecSpidey. She’s good too but I think SM2 has a really comic accurate take on the “let’s just be friends” Cat while she’s better at the romantic interest Cat which is more so a thing in the early comics right?

IIRC the original arc was Black Cat was really into Spidey until she found out he was Peter and god turned off by how boring his real self was because she was a shallow thrillseeker. Later on she got over it but by then he was with MJ and it was too late. I'm sure this has gone back and forth in the comics a bunch though.

Just watched Spiderverse on Blu-Ray. I wanted to watch in theaters but considering how Marvel has been treating the legacy characters and use diversity to erase the history and accomplishment (i.e. Riri-tard from Iron Man).
Luckily it wasn't the case for the movie, especially for Peter B Parker.
Miles became a worthy Spider-man in the movie

I liked there was humanity for Prowler's character even at his death.

Miles Morales-verse was quite blatantly supposed to be an alternate universe anyway, what with the police cars marked "PDNY", billboards advertising "Kola-Soda" plus the green taxi cabs. People might assume that the "PDNY" was solely because they didn't have permission from the NYPD to put the letters in proper order but, if you look carefully in Peter B. Parker's universe, the police cars are marked "NYPD", taxis are yellow, and, of course, Coca-Cola is "Coca-Cola".

I redboxed the blu ray of this tonight... and that was a mistake. (I should have gotten the dvd) Totally my fault for trying to watch a blu ray on my pc. (Even with a blu ray drive, somehow a decade later, blu ray on the pc is still a total fucking joke.) Running the disc, the default play through was a "multiversal" mode, playing roughly 2 and a half hour cut of the film, including "cut content". (This is a fault with the format, and I do not blame the film) Unfortunately a large chunk of this was hand drawn animatics/shitty story boards which were almost exclusively filler, and I couldn't figure out how to turn that off in the shitty blu ray program I'm using..

Despite my issues with that format, I still loved the film.

Random thoughts:
-I liked the swerve of them killing off the "real" Spiderman in Miles's universe and replacing him with a shitty old fuck version of apparently Tobey Maguire waaay past his prime.
-Spider Gwen is just as stupid of an idea as she's always been.
-I've always been indifferent to Miles Morales, but WTF? I genuinely love him now. I don't even care that Aunt May apparently designed his web shooters.

-Sorry no, the Nicolas cage "Noir" Spiderman (who was admittedly a cool idea outside this film), the "Kawaii desu" Evangelion spidergirl (which was dumber), and the "let's pretend spider ham was actually a looney tunes character all along" (which was the dumbest) all fell flat for me.

-Damn that side story with Miles and his uncle. Damn it really. (In a good way)

I want to see the DVD version of this, because I found the animation of the actual film to be fucking amazing. (I can see why it won awards.)

One last thought... Miles Morales isn't Spider "man". Dude's like 13. that was dumb even in the comics.

I'll probably buy the Blu-Ray after I get my tax refund. I was looking at it on the rack at Walmart the other day and was astonished that the Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse Blu-Ray was $5 more expensive than the Blu-Ray of the anime film A Silent Voice, which I was surprised to see at Walmart at all.

When Prowler pulled Miles' mask back down I thought it was because he was about to kill him and didn't want to have to see Miles looking at him while he did it. Kind of wish that was actually how it went down.
Same! That would have been dark as hell, but it also would have made a great cinematic moment.

Guess who went to see Into the Spiderverse and what his thoughts on it were

Sequel time.
Good teaser. I'm very interested to see Miguel play off Miles. He's a pretty weird take on the Spider-Man archetype.
The art style looks a bit more...scratchy? compared to the first movie. Especially when they're plummeting through the metaverse portals. Hopefully it's an early promo problem and it'll look a bit cleaner in the final cut.

New music made me think Jet Set Radio, so if they can nail an updated look to that, I’d enjoy it.

I notice that the first alternate universe Miles goes to is Indian themed which might be a tease for Pravitr Pavakar, the Indian Spiderman.

Why does every major Spider-Man and Spider-Man related movie have to involve some kind of interdimensional travel?

Can't we have normal Spider-Man stories anymore? You know, those about a loser young adult who needs to balance his life with college, a girlfriend, a job, all while maintaining his secret identity and fighting crime. Almost exactly what Spider-Man PS4 was. Maybe do what DC does and adapt comic stories into animated movies. Heck, that could even be done concurrently, with all the bank Spider-Man alone makes.

But nah, the major studios seem to be obsessed with turning Peter Parker and Miles Morales into multiverse police lmao
