Ok Since this movie is starting to come out around the world I figured it was about time we had a thread on the movie .
I managed to watch it yesterday and I actually really liked the movie it’s fun, energetic , well written ,incredible animation, amazing characters. Also I did not know this coming in but this was Co-Written by Phill Lord ( honestly explained why I noticed a Clone high Easter egg , to be fair this movie has some odd Easter eggs ) Honestly the cast was superb and I urge you to give this movie a chance .
Ok so this movie although an origin story for Miles morales it gives it its own twist on the matter , honestly this movie is a love letter to Spider-man and his legacy as an older washed up peter Parker must teach Miles to not only become Spider-Man but his own Spider-man . Even though I love the other Spider-Men we could’ve not have them and the plot wouldn’t miss a beat but never the less Spider-Gwen was nice third addition to the main Spidermen and possible love interest . John mullaney as Spider-Ham was halarious and Nic Cage as a gritty humpfrei Bogart esq Spider-man had some of the funniest lines . What was surprising is that the main Spider-Man from miles dimension (played by Chris Pine ) was one of the most heroic version of Spider-Man that had such a pressense that when he was killed off you really felt for the guy. The Kingpin who I first was dubious about his role in the film had a good motivation to fire up a hydron collider as he wanted to get his family back as they fled from him when they found out what he truly was and then dying in a car accident , his lackies with the exception of Olivia Octavious ( Doc ock ) and prowler have a lot of screen time but not a lot of dioalouge and character building moments . One of my favorite jokes in the movie is right in the post credits scene so stick around .
You can really tell this movie was a labor of love and everyone in the production team had a lot of fun and you will certain enjoy the film .

I was skeptical whether this movie would be any good but, from the trailers, I'm impressed with the pseudo-stop motion "look" where I know it's all animated in CGI but they were successful in making it look like the characters are hand-animated figurines which I presume is what they were going for with the art direction.

I also enjoyed the 1980s Spider-Ham comic as a kid so I'm happy he's included.

I don't know if I'm going to get to see this before Christmas but I'll try and see it before New Year's.

I like it, but was a little more excited when I thought it was entirely Miles focused. It still seems like it will be as far as the main storyline goes, but I thought it was going to be almost entirely him.

Will wait until it's available on putlocker, but it looks stylish as hell.
Looking forward to it.

So it's better than the original that had ripoff vampires an Bendis killing a whole bunch of Spider-Mans? oh the original has/had a sequel this year

I forgot to ask, did Electric Company "Spidey" have a cameo or at least make an appearance on the TV or maybe shown in the comic from Electric Company Magazine lying open on a table or something?

If "Electric Company Spidey" was in there, there would probably be a gag with a Spider-Man in a 1970s kids' educational show-budget costume who only communicates via comic book speech bubbles.

Saw this movie last night. I loved it.

-Best animated movie of the year. The only other one that gives it competition is Isle of Dogs. The stuff that Disney released this year kinda sucked (though the Academy will probably give the Oscar to The Incredibles 2).

-One of the best comic book movies of the year. It would easily be my favorite had Infinity War not happened, haha. The story is original for a mainstream comic book movie. Sony wanted their "Spider-Man Cinematic Universe," and I think they got it with this movie (there's a lot of potential for at least one sequel). They really need to stick to animated Spider-Man movies at this point, and then allow Marvel Studios to do all of the live action stuff.

-Lots of people are saying this is "The Best Spider-Man movie ever." While I personally don't think it's the best EVER, I truly believe it's my third favorite Spidey movie ... The first two Sam Raimi films are still the gold standard for me. But this was great.

Just some spoilery things:
-If you enjoyed the Lego Batman movie, I think you will enjoy this. This movie served as a parody and a tribute all at the same time (except Spider-Verse is more action oriented than Lego Batman). There's a lot of deconstruction with the "OG" Peter Parker that I thought was very well-done. A lot of shitty comic book writers these days refuse to let Spider-Man grow up ... And this movie addresses that in what I thought was an ingenious way. It's similar to how the Lego Batman movie addressed the shitty comic book writers who keep writing Batman as a male version of a Mary Sue ("Gary Stu").

-Making Miles Morales the main character was a brilliant choice. The dynamic between Miles (someone who is learning to be Spider-Man) and a middle aged Peter Parker (someone who has forgotten how to be Spider-Man) was fan-friggin-tastic. For about 10 seconds, I was worried that they were going to "Jake Skywalker" Peter Parker, but they totally didn't. He is still the hero that we know and love.

-There are some "diversity" moments in the film ... But they do it VERY well here. For example, there's a reveal of a female Doctor Octopus in Miles' dimension. The reveal was great, simply because I didn't see it coming (since I'm used to seeing a Male Doc Ock). It was a great setup for a particular action piece. Plus, with it being a different dimension, there are endless possibilities to play with the plethora of characters. I was on board with it, because they did something totally fresh and did it very well.

There was a Female Doctor Octopus in the 90's comics after Kaine killed Otto and becore she died just after she brought the original to life
