Spiders Are a Popular Video Game Monster. They're Also an Accessibility Problem

It's not a secret.

By the way why do people find spiders repulsive but have no problem with crabs? Crabs I think are the more dangerous arthropods. They have those big, meat, claws just waiting to rip your balls off with.
I don't like spiders or bugs in general, but I think crustaceans are adorable.

The scared of spiders seems like one of those dumb early internet memes, back when le, thank you good sir, nuke it from orbit were popular that a bunch of goons wanted to be more goonier then the last so they purposely played up their fear of spider and it lead to a feedback of it.

Getting scared by a game is fine. Straight up crippling phobia by a game is fucking pathetic.

All this talk about exposing one's self to spiders in games so the fear lessens and nobody brought it up?

You either play as a spider or scorpion, battling other creatures like a snake, rats, lizards, bugs, more spiders, and so on. Playing as a spider changes the game to a horror, while you just kick ass as a scorpion while the few horror parts can be a surprise since they're unexpected, there's a section where you get in a room full of spider webs with spiders about and you can get stuck on them.

There was a few times where I got uncomfortable but I trudged through. Fun game, got some replays on it. Too bad the company went under, would had liked a sequel on more playable bugs.

Crabs have ten legs. Guess eight is scarier than ten. Might be the eyes.

What's wrong smoothskin, never seen a ghoul before?
What is it with misery addicts and Code Lyoko-size foreheads?

I have fear of spiders but spiders in games don't phase me cause more often than not you can kill the little bastards. The creepers in Minecraft on the other hand...

The sad thing is this cunt doesn't believe a word he writes. He is purely a woketard for money. In reality he is a rape joke making shitlord.
I don't doubt it. Just look at his face. I feel sexually harassed just looking at that mugshot.

If anyone actually owns this I'd be curious to see what accessibility spiders look like ingame. We had a shot of the half-spider abomination a few pages back but not if the slider is maxed out.

Anyways, storytime. Many years ago when Dota 2 was new there was a push to censor Broodmother (who is a realistic looking tarantula). One of the figureheads of the modding community took this on as a challenge and decided to replace her with a kitten. At some point during this process he replaced the skill icons with pictures of kittens as well, but this had some.. interesting, side effects in regards to Brood's ability to spin webs.

There was also the issue of not being able to directly replace models and reuse animations due to brood having her own rig, being a spider and all. This lead to an odd improvised solution that supplied all of the bones the animations needed to not go berserk. It eventually got replaced with an actual custom cat model, but for a good while you could roll around as this amalgamation of four standard units spitting the web in that spoiler above. Arachnophobics were generally not happy with this change. but everyone else was.

.. then valve added for-pay cosmetics and disabled mods entirely since no fun is allowed. So it goes.

I don't have the game, but I searched it, and they look like this:

Soulless-looking thing vs spider... I think I prefer the spider.
