View attachment 5757830so it turns out the minimum chips it'll give you is 6 even with all the hacks, so i just did that and chose the most useful chips for me + curling bombs.
i've mastered the smollusk fight but it makes my hands cramp from constantly holding up on the joystick. the real hectocotylus and sperm sac torture was the 28th? floor where i ran out of floor resets/not enough to skip and i got the splat zones map where it's like, two zones and then the middle is uninkable in this crevice of death. took me 13 minutes. all in all still not as hard as OE. now give me the fucking pearl drone headband you malformed fetal octopus furry faggot.

Probably just a quirk of translation. I don't know much about Japanese but perhaps they have a non-gendered pronoun that gets translated as "they." I recall a similar thing happening pre-launch when people claimed Shiver was non-binary due to "they" pronoun use.

I’m definitely enjoying the campaign for the main game way more than 2s. They really took octo-expansion to heart.

Yeah I think the game is just dead. There's a dedicated player base of autists who play nothing else, but there's no point paying for advertising for a game that Nintendo has no plans to put any more effort into. It and the switch are at the end of their lifecycles so I'm guessing their prepping for the next gen.

i tried playing splatfest and it's just not fun anymore because i always get the special ed dropouts on my team and the somehow pro players on the opposite team. every fucking time.

Yeah the win/loss counter and the skill based matchmaking kinda add to a pain. it was fine at the start of the game but I started noticing weird shit going on with it where I keep getting on teams that either get spawn camped or suddenly start sucking/disconnecting last second. then there's the communication error shit where you're about to win which I swear is probably some ind of hacker exploit lagswitch shit like the splatoon 1 stuff. One thing I remember about splatoon 1 compared to 2 and 3 was it was a lot harder to spawncamp and people actually used the jump button. I'm supposedly well skilled enough to keep getting put up against pros with win streaks but i become fodder because i'm the only one on the team that breaks the spawncamp most of the time. I miss the bottomless pits and parkour sections in stages from 1 and 2 (that got patched out at some point in 2 and it made the stages easier to camp on)

It wouldn't be dead if they properly advertised it, 1, 2, and 3 at the start were really popular. 2 had the unfortunate "forced twitter account integration to post images" shit that carried into 3 unannounced sadly. And apperently you can't link it now? Anyways I haven't checked upon stuff since MONTHS ago.

Reviving the thread since, it looks like no more content is being added. If they add 3rd weapon variants in the next season I'll gladly eat crow, but most likely this is it.

Seems like s3 was something that nintendo pushed out for the latter fraction of the Switch's life cycle. Had some improvements over s2 (ranking system is the best it's been), but the non stop grinding and fomo mechanics really wore on me after awhile. Honestly, if they stripped out all the new cosmetics and added a few maps and weapons, I'd be a lot happier. The season schedule also gimped a lot of the hype. People would just log on every three months to see what was new and leave in a week, while in earleir games, there'd always be new content to keep players invested.

Base game single player campaign was fun. Fun stages, fun setting, nice soundtrack, good bosses, and Deep Cut actually gets to shine a bit, unlike in the rest of the game.

Splatfests are a downgrade. Losing shifty stations was a massive hit, and Tricolor Turf Wars don't make up for them. And If I may nitpick for a bit, splatfests themes were far more boring thanks to the 3 team gimmick. At the very least all the Pearl and Marina simps were spited after the last one. We must retvrn so squidition!

Salmon run is as serviceable as ever. Big Run was kind of gimmicky. Really if I want to play a pve multiplayer game with cosmetics I'll just play DRG, thanks.

Side Order was a massive disappointment. Octo Expansion set the bar and side order smacked face first into it. I finished my first run in an hour, and the unique content doesn't last long after that. It's not even safe from the grinding mechanics that infest the rest of this game. The plot is even more pathetic. They try to have a big finale similar to Octo Expansion, except with no buildup and zero intrigue, so it falls flat on its face. If it had more content, it might have been better, but for the price it's completely not worth it.

Still a fun game overall, just a somewhat bland entry. If you're still playing, I highly reccoment getting to s+ and playing in japanese x-battle lobbies. You can get high quality games there easily.

i politely disagree on this. while i do miss how much lore they gave us in OE, SO is really fun to play once you've unlocked everything and just get to mess around with broken weapons as if they're grizzco shit. i really wish there was an endless mode though.

all in all s3 felt halfassed, we should never let the new horizons team touch anything ever again.

Which is strange because I was under the impression the new horizons team worked on s2 as well. At the very lease Nogami was involved in both games.
