I love this game, but good god the "fandom" produces mega-cringe at a steady enough rate that searching anything Splatoon related will almost instantly lead to bad shit.

The single player campaign is a great family-friendly post apocalyptic race war simulator.
Multiplayer is fun, but there's an abundance of lag-switchers and people who use cheats to get ridiculous buffs that guarantee an instant win. Then again that makes it a lot more satisfying when you manage to still win when the other team has those guys on it, as rare as it is.

I found out you can hop to any player at any time as long as your alive and I now occasionally mess with the enemy team by leading them to an area where I'd be cornered and swoocing on out of there via gravity defying gamepad leaps.

I dont think they are? But, I'm excited for the Mario-themed splatfest. I really like playing online (turf / regular, ranked, etc.), it gets fun unless there's laggers / cheaters :/

I like how Octavio and Cuttlefish were bros before the race war and if cuttlefish didn't run into your guy when shit was hitting the fan and his old friend was plotting a fucking race war 2 scenario things would probably be infinitely worse off. Splatoon lore runs pretty deep and I can't really bring myself to hate any of the characters because of how funny they are. Splatoon 2's main storyline is sparked literally by the fact the octarians who've been living in the fucking dome slums their whole lives mistook the final battle of splatoon 1 as a "surprise concert" and octavio more or less goes "UHH YEAH GUYS TOTALLY A CONCERT LETS HAVE ANOTHER" and then uses that as a chance for a round 2 fight instigation thing.

Sucks splatoon 2's jumping isn't as fun and used as often as splatoon 1's and it's usually just a game of "who camps first" with how the maps have been altered. I'd probably have been level 99 instead of 40 or whatever despite owning the game since launch if shit wasn't fucked with.That and the twitter account linking shit to post a funny image leading to people only posting politics shit. it's a cancer. Fuck, it doesn't feel like it's been 4 years since it came out already...

To bring in actual discussion about the Splatoon 3 direct, I feel like this is way more of a major improvement on the games systems than I expected. I'm assuming Splat3 had a longer development time than Splat2, so the people behind it were able to put more effort into the game. I love Splat2, but I definitely get the argument about how it's way too similar to the first one. I'm glad Nintendo listened to that criticism and actively tried to change up the game without messing with the reasons why people liked Splatoon in the first place.

I enjoy the multiplayer but am showing up for the single player. And Spla2oon definitely felt a bit rushed or underbaked. I mean let's be honest after Splatoon the expectations for the final boss were extremely high (Splatoon's final boss fight is supremely good) and Spla2oon did not deliver at all.

The game looks great. The only issue I have is the new designs for characters. Splatoon 1 & 2 had great character designs for the side characters, but this one seems much weaker. Other than the Big Man, none of the designs are looking great to me.

Also, please tell me Pearl and Marina are not completely trashed. I don’t remember seeing them in the video, but I was not paying super close attention so I may have missed them.

they're the silhouettes in the supposed future dlc. lore-wise they joined up with some dudes to form a band and provide some of the turf war music
