It's probably not going to be the smash success they want it to be. Whether that makes it a "flop" or not I don't know. There are enough Marvel consoomer types that will buy into this just like there were enough that bought into watching Agents of Shield. And with how these types just love to throw money away on microtransactions it might be enough to keep it going for a year or two.

I suspect it'll be a flop in the same sense as Square's tomb raider series - massive sales, but an even bigger budget and expectations.

Square Enix has a nasty habit of being too optimistic with projections. And even if this is Marvel they were so optimistic they released a beta demo that shredded any expectations leaving a sour taste in many mouths.

I'm reading a lot of casual opinions that seem far more forgiving than I expected them be, mostly they dig the solo shit. I expect it to sell really well upfront, taper off over the months, and have multiplayer be completely dead by next spring. Considering they're supposed to be hedging big on multiplayer and this being a paypig milker, I expect it to fail that way.

I was looking at a gameplay video and the more I saw I realized Laura isn't actually terrible as Nat?

It's just disappointing that SE did literally the bare minimum when it comes to this game. Needs more characters. More villains and npcs...
Its like they wanted to do their own Arkham game but with Marvel and failed.
 
I've changed my mind from before too, I fucking hate Kamala in this. I think a lot of it is because I actually like her books (her solo stuff any time they team her up with anyone else it's garbage) and in this they do literally everything wrong with her. I'm surprised so many people are pointing to her as a highlight of the game, she could easily be a completely new character and it would be exactly the same. They also write her as partially retarded which I think I mentioned before but the new cutscenes that weren't in the beta really hammer it home.

But if that's not your fancy, I guess that, barring Eidos Montreal getting scapegoated for this bomb and being forced to closed over it, if they get their arm twisted to a sequel, you might get a few as dlc!

God...Hawkeye and Star Lord are so much better in the comics. They're funnier, hotter, and more well rounded than the boring bland characters in the films.

Also I hope ya like Troy Baker because you're basically playing him instead of Clint. Its too fucking jarring and one of the reasons I detest mocap

I knew this game would be shit the moment they revealed Kamala Khan.

You just know how that went down, some dangerhair female on the team suggested it and because no one can just tell them to fuck off in today's climate it had to be implemented even though everyone knew it was a bad idea, but no one wants to say "no, I don't think we should add the brown female to our video game"

They have, what 6 avengers in the game, and none are the ones I actually like.
No thanks. My pals and I are having a pretty good time with GTFO, Risk of Rain 2 and hell, even Phantasy Star Online 2 has better multiplayer content and that game is around 8? years old. Besides who the hell wants to play a spectacle fighter with friends? Not saying there's anything spectacular about the game, but I'd rather just dust off LOTR3 on my PS2 if I wanted multiplayer hack n' slash.

This game is an Americanized Musou.

Fight 3 types of the same enemies for the whole fucking game
Mission Structure never fucking changes
Next to no real boss battles
Constant map re-use
Everything becomes tedious

Facebook is pushing ads for this on me hard. Kinda funny seeing simps lose their minds when I comment how shit it is.

Addition: One of the weirdest things I keep seeing them say is that this wasn't meant for MCU fans, it was meant for the "real comic fans". They get pretty confused when I ask them how they come to that conclusion when nothing looks like it does in the comics, there are only three comic book villains and there are no comic book locations. Almost as if they actually have no fucking reference to the comics other than what they see on Twitter...

iirc they could really never get it working properly on Steam, I remember issues with functionality on launch day. Played it again today for a couple of hours. When it's fun quite fun but it seems like it's designed to piss you off to the point of turning it off. I'd describe it as probably the most fun bad game I've ever played.

lol at the comments blaming it's failure on "muh (((woke)))" and not it literally being unplayable for huge chunks of it's incredibly brief life.

edit; it does indeed seem to be more a case of the game just outright not working properly and less a case of brave gamers rising up against sandniggers in their games.
