Thought I'd bump this because the devs had the "genius" idea to slow down the process of leveling up. They try to spin this as being "better for players" or some such horseshit, but it's obviously a ploy to get people to play longer, Which would make some sense if the game had a large or even just medium sized playerbase, but it doesn't. It's basically Anthem tier at this point.

If their objective is to intentionally sabotage this game, they're doing a great job. If not, then they're just flat out incompetent and stupid. Especially given what literally just happened to the aforementioned Anthem.

Everything about the release of this game really just sucks in general. The beta was actually fun too, as I pointed out earlier in this thread. All they had to do was add a little bit more content, as well as getting rid of the required online connection to play dogshit and people would probably buy the game. My motivation to buy the game died when I heard some shit about a friend I played the beta with about how the unlock battle pass shit didn't even carry over despite the beta literally requiring you to make a square enix account to play the fucking game and that supposedly being the whole purpose of that shit to begin with.

I saw this earlier today and it's completely baffling to me. It's well known at this point that the game has been struggling to find a large playerbase, and I guarantee you a large part of that is because people heard about the extreme grind and stayed away. So their solution is to make the grind worse? That's only going to exacerbate the problem. Even funnier is that the update straight-up admits that it will slow down the leveling process and recommends everyone to quickly reach level 50 before the update on March 18th. They know that it's bullshit. Why else would they warn everyone to hurry up and max out their level before it gets worse?

surprised squeenix even gives a fuck at this point. or they don't and it's all crystal dynamics, with squeenix being more focused on outriders (which seems like a somewhat solid replacement and if it sells is probably the final nail in the coffin).

Watch this go F2P in a month and them trying to sell xp boosts for 10$ a pop.

They're seriously going to waste more money and not just cut their losses?

:story:

I like how I knew, like I assume many people did, the game was going to be shit the split second I learned Kamala Khan would be in anyway involved.

I like how SJWs are so deluded they can't take a hint when an IP like fucking THE AVENGERS tanks because of their forced Woke.

Endgame was only like, what, the highest grossing movie and yet an Avengers game tanks and they seriously can't figure out why, it's incredible.

They're about to cancel it. Corporations always do this: come out and make a big show of publicly promising to support their failing product, then when that doesn't turn things around (and it never does), they unceremoniously pull the plug. And it's obvious why: because there is no need to make a show of support for product that isn't obviously dying, and because they are never, ever held accountable for their blatant lies.

If they don't cancel it, it's purely because they have some sort of contract somewhere that forces them not to for X years. But that's probably not the case here.

Hows that other looter-shooter game from Squeenix looking? I’ve heard good things about Outriders but the tutorial seemed a bit Gears of Sar-esque for my taste.

mentioning it during events and showing trailers doesn't cost anything, while it might get some more suckers into buying it (consoles don't have reviews on the store page). doubt they gonna put much money into it, whatever crystal dynamics say, squeenix is the one signing the checks.

it's just published, dev is people can fly (of painkiller/bulletstorm fame). while it still has cover shooter roots it's a bit deceiving, the way you heal and combat is designed you're supposed to constantly push and wreck shit, not hide behind chest-high walls - which you can if needed, but it's not the focus like for example division.
and they're poles which adds a nice "no fucks given" attitude to the writing (although they use a stronk female for marketing, but that has no effect in game). it's nothing special or mindblowing, but honestly for a game about turning people into red mist and collecting the loot I don't really need anything else, and given all the retarded current year shit I don't want anything else. that's just the demo tho, who knows if it takes a nosedive later on. we'll see.

technically it's between AA and AAA, the production value is clearly there, while some parts lean more towards AA, like animations. it's noticeable (even for me, and I am usually the last one to complain about animations), but then gameplay itself is frantic enough with constant moving around you quickly forget about it.

also not a service game apparently, it's online only but that's in part copy protection and due to the looter shooter aspect. they also didn't say anything about microtransactions, I think they mentioned something they didn't plan for any, but given the money it must have cost, squeenix and being a modern AAA game I'd surprised if they don't release some at some point, even if it's just cosmetic (there's already stuff for the preorder, so take that as you will). otoh the devs seem to be somewhat active following the game and willing to change stuff after complaints somewhat fast, like motion blur and 30 fps cutscenes (which they even patched the demo for), which feels like they care more about it than your average AAA publisher shitting out another game to milk only wanting your money, so there's that too.

TLDR: looks good but feels not worth the pricetag of $60 (or $70, lol consoles). my personal sweet spot to pick it up is 35-40. there's a demo out there with enough content to form an opinion, no harm giving it a try. so far I like it.
