Squid Game - battle Royale but adults!

I really enjoyed this show it was quite fun and actually was creative with the battle royale stuff in making it appear more like the players are more willing to participate which is refreshing.

I however don’t like the bridge game which was quite weak, the death of one character before the finale was dumb, and I didn’t like how they just made a setup for season 2 instead of the finale just being a bookend for the first season.

It’s still enjoyable and worth a watch though.

i also liked that it didnt end up moral fagging, the rich guys dont have any motivation beyond their immediate entertainment, the organizers justify their actions by pretending that theyre giving these people a second chance but that idea is completly lost with the financers. They didnt shy away from killing characters either that other productions would have probably tried to recycle for the second season

Like the character deaths were nice for the most part except the pickpocket girl, like it’s fine if she died but the whole glass thing felt really contrived.

But to add onto the rich guys stuff, I liked how they were portrayed as absolute retarded degenerates instead of sophisticated snobs like most evil rich people are in other shows.

Bridge game was just pure luck. The rest of the games, even if the odds were stacked against the players, they could still win through skill like we saw in the honeycomb and tug of war. Regarding the sequel hook, I don't think it's going to be able to capture the same thing that made this popular/good. It is written like an open and shut story, even with the main character going back, it feels like it can be left there and to the imaginations of the viewers.

I really, really liked the series ... Although it is not without its flaws.

In short, episodes 1-6 are amazing, and episodes 7-9 aren't as good (but the episodes have really strong moments). The show is totally worth checking out, even though I am not invested in a second season.

The thing that I really enjoyed about this show, above all else, is how suspenseful it is. It has been quite a while since I watched new media that left me on the edge of my seat, so hat's off to this show for accomplishing that.

Its alright, the acting was pretty good and i liked the cinematography, the people pretending its the best thing ever filmed are all re'tarded. Ending was shit the rich guys were put on to thick and the second season is probably gonna be a special kind of stupid.
I don't even know what a second season could look like, I got the distinct impression that they wrote themselves into a corner with the ending. They're going to have to pull off a Stranger Things-level ass pull to find a way to continue the story.

They front loaded the first game with some over the top motion detecting animatronic that causes mounted guns to eliminate people to draw people in, then the next game is "lol u fuck up? i shoot u" Would have preferred if every game was as over the top as the first, the bridge game came close but the honeycomb and marbles were snooze fests.

Also they made a huge deal about the explosives in the ladder shaft but it's just a red herring as they never revist it.

im convinced this was supposed to be just one season and then either greedy fucks from netflix or some other guy in the production company forced the writers hand to have a guaranteed second season. I predict a very dumb revenge plot and around 5 more seasons.

The marble game episode was important for character development. This is a seriously brainlet take, not every TV show has to be a fucking Michael Bay movie

It's most likely going to be about Gi-hun and the undercover cop (plot twist of him not actually being dead) teaming up to take down the games and/or more about the undercover cop's brother since he was a previous winner. It's only going downhill from here.

Only way I can see this work is if the games are focused on with new characters and there are new games while Gi-Hun’s stuff is a sort of side story but who knows what will happen

Lol I remember Parasite more than this crap. There are other Korean stuff worth remembering like Okja or The Battleship Island.

As for Squid Game, I could honestly care less and after watching it, came back to watching the original Battle Royale from Japan and Liar Game and it was far better in execution.

Is anyone else curious about what would happen if every contestant died before reaching the final game? It's not impossible, especially considering that almost every game except the first two is designed so that at least half the players at minimum are guaranteed to die.

Conversely, assuming a best case scenario where every player survives (except in the games where it's impossible for there to not be losers), that would mean there could be a final round with a total number of 114 players. How the hell would that work?

The actual squid game itself is introduced as a team game (it seems to me like basically Bulldog with a bit of a preamble) so presumably they could make a bigger pitch and do it as a round robin tournament of small teams
