Him being kinda annoying was the point and people quickly caught on to that. I don't like the dulling down of him and falco in this new dialogue, it doesn't feel like them or really any character to me.

Slippy's voice went from 12-year-old boy to Silly Guy to Actual Woman, and now gay Disney Sidekick. And yet, I still love the little scamp.

The Zero era really wanted to give him a redemption arc. He's not the one who falls to Titania anymore, he actually stands up to Falco, and he's the one who got the spin-off.

I get that and I agree with you, but if Nintendo thinks the fanbase thinks he's annoying then that's the one part they're obviously going to tone down. As for Falco, I've heard some sass from him in the new footage but I'll need to hear more first before I have a proper opinion on the new voices. SF643DS already re-recorded the dialogue and made it feel a bit different, so I was sort of prepared for this to happen here.

I was really hoping they'd hire a male and do some trans erasure for Slippy, oh well
 
So is this a remake of the original? or are they integrating the N64 version as well? I mean 100 bucks for 45 minutes of gameplay? Really? They better find a way to make this shit longer and replayable.
 
They seem to be giving it a more cinematic approach with actual cutscenes and expanded story elements, along with an online multiplayer mode at least.

That said, I must say, the voice acting and tone, for me at least, suffers a bit of the problem the RE4 remake has. Which is that in going for a more serious and dramatic feel, it loses a lot of the campy charm of the original.

The comparison between the voice lines shows what I mean.
