Imagine Star Trek being in even more pathetic condition than Soy Wars.
I was discussing with someone the other day, I think Star Trek would actually be improved if Disney owned it. I feel uncomfortable saying it, but at least they wouldn't have the 3edgy5u eye gouging crap.

That's a big eh. It would be just as bad, just in the complete opposite direction where nothing actually happens. Rather than insulting awful Identity politic riddled writing and direction, you would get mind-numbingly boring identity politic riddled writing and direction.

At least the JJ Abrams movies didn't do a big disrespect to the TOS cast. If it was the Disney treatment, Kirk would have been some loser and he would have been out done by Ensign Mary Sue.

As bad as Wesley have been he was never a coward and deserter like Jake had done during the Fed-Klingon War. To be fair to Jake he did grew a pair and manned up to undo his previous transgressions.
In Jake's defense, He never had any sort of training for this, he was just a civilian.

Jake did manned up, stopped running, face his past and present demons and won. Him and Nog shown how character development is supposed to be done with both of them going through a dark place to come out better.

One of my favorite Jake scenes in DS9, a series of favorite scenes for me, is in the Season 5 finale. The Federation abandons Deep Space 9 in order to try and protect Bajor, taking everyone from Starfleet with them. Jake decides to stay behind on the rechristened Terok Nor to see the front lines of the Dominion War better. As the Defiant leaves Jadzia tells Captain Sisko that Jake isn't aboard with the other families, and Benjamin replies that Jake is a grown man who can make his own decisions. That moment of respect from Benjamin was a great conclusion to that story arc.

Jake and Nog's coming of age during the Dominion War was one of the best story arcs in DS9 overall, with a lot of memorable moments like Nog's demand to join Starfleet and Jake seeing the horrors of war during the Klingon skirmishes. Compare that to Wesley, who kept playing the annoying, over-achieving kid long into TNG and had all of maybe 2 alright episodes.

I think Wesley's only pivotal moment in TNG was lying about how one of his fellow cadets died during that space shuttle maneuver show. It just goes to show his lack of character overall, which is fitting considering who plays Wesley.

My favourite part about Nog is that he's just a cadet when the Dominion war starts but ends up a Lieutenant Junior grade while the end, compared to ensign Kim who is still an ensign after 7 years on Voyager.

Huh? Wesley literally did desert his duty to run off with the space pedo. It was in that really stupid Native American episode.
yeah Jake at least has an excuse of being some rando who didn't want to join Starfleet proper and wanted to tell stories
Wesley just sucks.
and when an ayyy touches his wiener it's a creepy interdimensional ayyy dude, Jake got some D/ss/9 going on

That is the power of the self-sealing stem bolts.
It's amazing to see how much they've changed. Not many tv shows do that. I remember hating Nog at the beginning and by the end of the show he became one of my favorite characters of all Trek.

I was immensely confused for a moment after reading this. Then I remembered that STD is not canon and ruins everything. Was saying to myself "hang on, Jake was in good Star Trek."
