Captain, I'm diverting course to the Old Country Buffet Starbase, I'm detecting BBQ ribs!
Starfleet is trying to create an adipositas-based cloaking device. He girth and mass will swallow all ranges of electromagnetic and subspace emissions, only a notably sweat-scented cloud of Hawking Radiation will remain.

Of course.

Ah, it's not a "real" watchmen, it's like a spinoff? I mean, I'm not a fan, I only loosely know the characters after the movie.

Funny how this is exactly what was suggested a few posts ago: make it in another universe/future rather than change the previous canon, as it happens in ST:D.

Guess what, still doesn't work.

Maybe the problem isn't the new franchises or stories, but the people working behind them being complete idiots who don't know what fans want. I swear, I have never heard anyone talk about this show beyond SJWs who love these pieces of shit for being progressive, not because the plots make sense. Random people talk about the Watchmen movie, whether you liked it or not, but this show flies under everybody's radar.

It won a pile of Emmys. The bad guys are KKK. Yahya Abdul-Mateen got nominated, but not Tim Blake Nelson. Abdul-Mateen is a non entity until the end; he didn’t even voice all of Dr M's lines.

The Emmys have always been partisan. I'll never forget Hugh Laurie being snubbed. Who won that year? The soapbox "closing arguments" of James Spader.

It won a pile of emmys and still nobody cares.

Reminder that Terry left DS9 to go play a neurotic cook.

Even David Caruso would think twice. And yes, I know the studio dared her to quit. ("You'd be working at K-Mart.")
Didn't she have some kind of skin condition that made it really hard for her to work outside? I remember that as being the reason she wasn't in Rocks and Shoals.

I think the biggest reason she left is that she wanted a contract renegotiation and they told her to fuck herself. Something about going to part time status.

It's been known for years that the awards are bought.

No one cared until Brenden Fraser got groped at an event.

Awww Brenden Fraiser always makes me feel sad. He seemed like a really nice dude, was decent at what he did and his career up and vanished and people were dicks to him. He was on a local radio show maybe a decade ago and until he realized that the hosts actually wanted to chat with him and weren't jerking him around, he came off as very defensive and suspicious.

But after he figured out that he wasn't there as a "hey look at this has-been!", he was really cool and funny.

And apparently he's doing better nowadays so that's good.

I'm going to say again, if we still had a really good 80s sensibility we could have a Reginald Barclay led Holodeck series where they tackled classic Shakespeare and other folktales with some nice kids, at this point it would have to be animated but I think the idea has great potential.
I'd show pre Starfleet times as well like dipping further into 2040-2080s Earth history. If they want wokeness the Bell riots could be a 5 parter.

This sounds more interesting that anything we have now.

I'd watch a series with Barclay. Perhaps something related to the academy. I can see a plot where he's asked to be a teacher there because he's really good at his job, but he doesn't want to due to his insecurities. It'd be great to have him being the teacher while one of the cadets has Picard's personality and Barclay is the guide and mentor.

Of course, you need to be creative to do something like this and we don't have that.

They'd never air it today. Heck, they only got away with it in the first place because DS9 was the b-show.

The sheer terror that the word "class" gins up in boomers is really remarkable.
They'd obviously pretend like the bell riots were and always have been about race, not class.

If STD is set shortly before TOS, then I wonder why they went from everything looking futuristic to everything looking retro-futuristic shortly after. From computers with touchscreens to blinky lights.

(oh yeah and that lady is fat)
