I have just watched the latest SNW episode (didn't see the previous episodes). For a Kurtzman production it was actually watchable. I agree with you guys, they need to tone down the dyke helmswoman, Trek doesn't need quips, other shows do it better (The Orville, Stargate, etc.). I liked the
Balance of Terror aspect of the episode. Anson Mount is just perfect as Pike. I like the fact that they acknowledge their loss, it's something that you would never see in Picard or STD where they would be too busy being smug. It's a shame that SNW has to be related to STD.
Good to know that they still have wooden pallets in the future
Not a fan of the Gorn ship design. It doesn't look like something a reptilian species would build. It's closer to the ship from the Guardian of the Galaxy movie. Also I hate the Star Wars "pew pew" sound effects but that's a Kurtzman thing.
Like Nitpicking Nerd (or BirdOPrey 5?) said in his review, they should have used another alien species instead of the Gorn. No human is supposed to know about them until that TOS episode. I know they appeared in ENT but that episode was set in the Mirror Universe.
I might watch the next episode.
No one really seemed frightened or determined except Khanette and her flashbacks were more pointless tragic backstory crap that is fine in principle but constantly seeing a ghost and requiring (yet another) mind-meld is so unnecessary.
Wasn't the mind-meld still forbidden during that era?
