Anybody watching it with the hopes of being good is like that woman whose husband beats every other day but she expects he one day will give her respect only because he buys her stuff.

Whoever is behind this show hates the original fans. That's not gonna change. Even if they have the smarts to make a show with the woke tuned down, they still hate you. Why would anybody gives them attention or money?

It has been fairly decent since episode 2, but I'm not holding out hopes for very long.

Did the bulldyke on the bridge get killed off? The forgettable woman who was 'number 1' stop crying about daterape, the medical crew replaced by actors who are tropes at this point? Nothing I saw in ep 1 indicated that this ever had the chance of being ok let alone good. There is one actor in the whole thing who's ok and that's Pike.

The Con officer is still that one with a stupid Haircut.
Number 1 isn't human, but it makes sense in how they handled it.
Medical crew still has Hotty Chaplin and Mubenga has a decent backstory.

There has so far been a 50/50 rate of sucsess in the story's they have done, so I am willing to watch a few more episodes before fully making my mind up.

Also the Enginner is a real stand out to me more so than Pike, the actor is good and sells the roll really really well.

Got that one on a queue once I finish Andromeda ( again ).
The Kevin Sorbo one? That's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Legitimately good and sometimes great so far. Maybe it's because my expectations were extremely negative but it's refreshing as hell.
People have nutrek trauma so it's still getting shit on, but the bad stuff is minor (a single shitty character who already seems to be improving, one or three awkward line reads per episode) or typical stuff people pretend doesn't apply to classic trek like dumb technobabble. The good stuff is a massive improvement in trekness and I'd go so far as to say some of it has fucking rocked.

Objectively it's off to a strong start compared to previous shows finding their feet. I dunno how it could realistically be better as a current year trek without yet another timeline reboot, and we ain't getting that.
Some people are never happy. You give them a new and improved Trek with 80% less wokeness and great visuals, and they complain about the quippy lesbo who takes up 3% of each episode. She's an acceptable tax to me.
Am I the only one who thinks the new nurse Chapple is fucking gorgeous? She is honestly some of the best eye candy I've see on TV in years.
She looks like an aesthetician but I don't hold it against her. Just the whorishness.
Yeah, I don't like her behavior. Nurse Chapel wasn't a whore, she never talked about having different boyfriends on every planet. That dialogue between her and the dyke helmsman was painful to watch.

TOS Chapel had a fiance who had been lost in space but to whom she was still dedicated before they found out he was dead, I think.

If the first 15 min of ep 1 didn't give that away, I have a bridge to sell you
I haven't watched it at all. I am done with Trek. The people in charge all hate the series and its fans. They've made this perfectly clear.

Star Wars is trickier because there are still some Star Wars fans still working on the new shows.

There WILL be trannies and gayfaggotry on this show among other things. That was inevitable from the beginning just based on who is making it. I would never have expected some of the scenes I've seen on this show so far particularly with Pike, though. The quality of the show is great so far overall but going forward it's going to rest on how they present the inevitable poz loads and the degree to which they try to remain politically neutral and not try to make a big fucking statement while presenting potentially political topics in a nuanced and intelligent way. As someone who doesn't give a flying fuck about any other nuTrek, they're only competing with themselves as far as I'm concerned. However, even with that they could still screw up. I don't think they were trying to piss people off with the notorious "Jan 6th" scene, especially if you pay attention to Pike's monologue and how it was written and the pacing of that montage. I'm sure there's bound to be more bullshit, though.

If it goes to shit then it goes to shit. The good news is that if and when it does, it still won't be actual Star Trek. For me, it's another Orville. It's a Trek-like thats watchable and I'm ok with that.

Eh, I'd rather have The Orville. The Orville is made with love, Nu-Trek is made out of resignation that people keep talking about how good the Orville is.

I don't care what's the quality of this show, it's made by people who hate you and hated the former tv shows and think they are improving them.

Finally watched Voyager’s Once upon a time.

(I had never actually seen it).

Okay, so my thoughts on it are somewhat mixed. We get to see Neelix a little better, he’s desperately trying to prevent Naomi from enduring the same trauma and loss he did, the shuttle scenes are pretty good, and we get to see a more nurturing and warm Janeway.

Also, what is life like as a child on a ship like Voyager? Clearly the holodeck program is what kids in the 24th century will spend their time with(which is rather creepy honestly-children’s lit characters in holodeck form…)

At the same time; it’s kind of boring, and having Samantha Wildman die could have made an interesting arc for Naomi(whose actress is actually rather decent despite being a kid).

Imagine being Naomi though, and also ignore the fact Voyager gets home in seven years(endgame’s time travel shenanigans aside)-being the only kid amongst a bunch of adults with a mother who is a junior officer. Imagine it being an actual sixty year trip or seventy.

Imagine your entire life or the majority of it, the only person of your age, surrounded by adults who both simultaneously fawn over you and see you as something of a burden or nuisance.

Imagine Naomi as a teenager. With only a child of Tom and B’lanna for company. Yes you get to have a lot of amazing and unique experiences and see things your peers back home never would(as Harry Kim points out)-but your mother is a full time crew member and there will be times when her life is at risk. And her ability to parent is also limited by her duties. Imagine not only doing virtual schooling or having Seven and Tuvok as tutors, but also having no friends your age, and being expected to inevitably take some sort of role in running the ship as the first generation get older.

Now that I think about it, Naomi is looking at an absolutely crap sack life, albeit with lots of cool stuff assuming she survives. No wonder she spends a lot of time in the holodeck.

And they must be legally blind. Jeri Ryan is attractive even at her age, but the actress for Raffi looks terrible. Gaunt, bordering on emaciated. Her hairstyle makes her look like an old broom.
But the worst thing is how utterly repulsive her personality is. The way how she chews out Picard is so out of left field.

Borg queen shows up, takes over the fleet, Picard decides to prevent her from taking over the entire fleet and orders the ship to be scuttled, Q shows up and sends the protagonists back in time, Elenor dies (tbh, I thought he died in S1?) and Raffi bitches at Picard, like what the fuck. "Hurr durr, you palling around with Q somehow makes you responsible for Elenor's death, even though he would have been killed before Q showed up anyway and now I pretend like everything's your fault, cause I couldn't even pretend to be a functioning starfleet member if all of humanity's survival hinged on me not being an utter cunt!".

Cool.
Q shows up, sends them to an alternate universe then back in time.

Also Ranni really really cares about Elfgor because they became super super close….offscreen. Between seasons. Specifically so she could be pissy and angry at Picard, because she’d have nothing to do otherwise.

The whole show is nothing but cheap drama and generic inspirational monologue, it's shocking really.

I genuinely do not understand how anyone could watch this crap, I mean, really watching it, not just as background noise while doing chores, and still enjoying it.
The plot is incoherent as fuck, it's thematically and narratively retarded, the characters are shit, the plot makes no sense. All you get is really cheap use of insanely vapid and generic tropes. You can replace all the "emotional" character moments with a giant white square of paper with "Drama goes here" for how blatant it is. They do not tie into anything, are based on off-screen stuff or make no sense whatsoever.
Same with the "inspirational" speeches, that are actively hurting my brain and make me bleed from the ears for how utterly crap they are. Especially that whimsy tone in Picard's voice is pissing me off, since you could literally read a shopping list and it would have the same effect.

You know what that's the best summarisation of SNW I have read and it's sad that what is essentially a fan fic is better than the original.

Yea Patric stuart is a cunt and a stage actor to boot he demanded he get's more monologues and speeches as part of his contract for reviving the roll (along side a dump truck of cash) to make use of his full "Range" they are just sensless shite that can be made up on the fly as Red Letter Media proved, all the saccerine with all the depth and meaning of of a Glory Hole.

He showed in Dr. Strange that he can still act and not sound like a worn out old man, so his performance in Picard is intentional. Fuck him for pissing all over the franchise that made him famous.

I've not seen Dr Strange but I take your word for it, I've never liked Patric Stuart he's always been a arogant bastard at the best of times and has said a lot of not very nice things about Trek and Trek fans over the years and Sci-Fi in general and in his personal life he is a proper bastard.

I can normally separate a artist from there work but I can't with him.
