Definitely one of VOY's finer hours, and merits more consideration in these woke times. The planet's oppressed ethnic minority turn out to be the beneficiaries of their whitewashed history, and the Doctor's account shows how they were actually the aggressors all along. For once the injustice is in our favor!

If you transpose the story onto our reality, it comes uncomftoably close to validating criticisms of Israel's fucked-up policies. But you can extrapolate your own message from it.
Its interesting how the White coded people are the oppressed ones, and the non White ones are the majority oppressing. Bit of a weird headspin even in the nineties.

Also evil voyager-with the crew hamming it up and doing the closest we got to a mirror universe voyager is always a treat.

Literally a homemade firearm. Roddenberry stays winning.🔮

One of my favorite Voyager episodes was Blink of an Eye.

Olaf Pooley is always fun , be it Classic Who ( Inferno ) , the pilot for the original run of MacGyver, and then Voyager here as the cleric.

He was also in the Beastmaster movie David Warner was in.

How did I not notice that Wynonna Earp(Melanie Scrofano) was playing the woman in the opening scene at the cabin and in the finale episode. I guess it was the lack of leather pants.

No coincidence that the best episodes are Doctor episodes.

Do we like Stargate? I think I will rewatch that next and talk about it here. I know there is a Stargate topic, but you guys are here.

The movie, SG-1, Atlantis and Universe are fun. I recommend you watch the movie first then get into the series.

I did not enjoy Universe as much. But it was better than Voyager. There is a very exceptional watch order for Stargate that I have to relocate. It was solid.

We will go on this journey together. This is now also the Stargate thread.
I mean star trek and farscape and firefly actors were all on stargate shows so it can work.

to be fair the slogan is kinda meh. he should've used this:

But what of alien civilization that can't progress? What if this alien planet didn't produce the necessary die off to create fossil fuels that push forward the industrial revolution? What if the planet doesn't have iron (or it's so deep in the mantle it can't be reached) that prevents the most basic of technological advancement? Should these aliens be forced to live and die on their planet due to circumstances out of their control?

What if these aliens pulled a Ferengi and didn't engage in slavery and genocide? Should humanity who has done this really judge the alien?
late reply, but that civilization wouldn't know better so the point is moot. if the federation was to help them, how would you define it under what circumstances and to what extend? this also doesn't consider not all civilizations want to be part of the whole space thing, just look at the amish now. imagine telling them they have to get on twitter so they can "progress".

you have to draw the line somewhere. sucks but that's the way it is (doesn't mean there isn't some leeway, it's not like captains are under constant monitoring...)

In First Contact, the Enterprise was orbiting Earth undetected. Not even the Vulcans noticed them. Starfleet ships are able to pass undetected, so they can absolutely do some work like stop an asteroid from destroying a civilization without being noticed. The people living on ground will never know.

What's even the qualification that Starfleet considers for a civilization to be "ready" for contact? Once you achieve capability for interstellar travel? Well, that sounds even more classicist to me. "Oh, pfff, you can't even go to stars? You all deserve to die!"
pretty sure that happens often enough and then just gets buried in the logs (implying anyone gonna read those anyway unless it's for a good reason) or mask it with some unrelated "we beamed aboard an asteroid for samples" without mentioning otherwise it would've nuked a planet. and even if someone would want to raise a stink, it's gets into the grey area of cause and effect (would make an interesting episode at least), they're not beaming phasers into a pre-industrial village. lot of stuff in star trek still seem to work under the assumption of "don't ask, don't tell", except smart people doing it without malevolence.

My theory is that after TOS the Klingons implemented the Final Solution to the Gorn Question and no one said a thing besides a few fags on Earth. I know the Gorn were in the novels but lol, only nerds read that shit. I wish Star Trek would tackle the idea that some races need to be exterminated for the betterment of the galaxy, especially the parasitic ones.
federation would come up with a technical solution to everyone's advantage.

I'm actually disappointed Rom became Grand Nagus. He should have taken over as chief engineer after Miles left for Earth.

O’Neill and his constant dumb remarks are annoying. I know his thing is being scientifically stupid, but he is the worst ambasssador Earth could have. I like the other main characters.

I found Atlantis wasn't nearly as good, and stoppped.

Atlantis improved in S2 when they ditched Rainbow and added Baba Voss. That's when it found it's identity. It was a bit of a lesser SG1 in season 1. After that it found it's identity as being a more action Stargate show. While SG1 remained more the adventure Stargate show.

Atlantis would have been a lot worse if they had kept the original blonde Doctor Weird.

Seems he's the only commander with off-stage clout. He gets the most character growth, according to fans.

Weir was a 'foil' to the military side, which was a bad move. The actress was out of her depth and just gave up.

She asked too many questions, and the producers thought she was too busy doing drugs with naked people in the desert.:story:

NO that's really what happened. Chuck went over it on her episode:
(timestamped)

The actress lied about going to see family and went to burning man instead. If you're being chosen for a prospective steady role in an ongoing series, you don't endear yourself to the higher ups by lying to them.

The Star Wars thread was shit up by retards and now the Star Trek thread is being shit up by Stargate fans.

Which amounts to the same thing.

Imagine having a babbling idiot placed in the highest seat of your government.

I bet the cost of antimatter on Ferenginar went through the roof in a few short months.

I noped out of the Star Wars thread after the constant cope over Mandalorian. Those sad people whine endlessly about Disney but still consume Disney product just to bitch how it's not old SW. It's like they're incapable of disconnecting.
