Shit, it's still not the best of trek, but it's far better than anything recent. Am I falling for the low expectations set by previous series? I think I need more booze.

*edit* the ending is pretty good, but why didn't Picard suggest to Shaw earlier about the benefits of a Nebula (aka the Mutara Nebula, and then his own engagement with the Borg)? The raffi bits are still the weakest. So far, this has been the best episode of Picard.

Would be 500% better without Raffi. They could have replaced her with any of the old crew; someone who could...act. Bring back Bashir even for the role.

Bev is old
Worf is Raffi's handler and killed Sneed
Raffi takes drugs
Shaw acts like he's a 20th century sneedmonster rather than a starfleet captain
Bad guy woman is bad because she's bad, and channeling her father's character
Picard just assumes command and everyone snaps into line
Picard shouts Engage! but sounds like he immediatly needs to sit down from all the effort that took.
Episode ends with them running into a nebula for some Wrath of Khan cat and mouse.
 
Seriously Worf is dumb for not taking and torturing Sneed for info-- his death some more unhinged violence from modern trek just for the sake of it. This lack of foresight in eliminating a source of information will surely become an inessential plot extension. Plus we are now deprived of arguably the best new trek character since the 90s Shran.

Jack happening to have a "force field disabler" and not being searched prior to being thrown in the brig, is stupidly convenient.

Sneed makes her take drugs to prove she's not a Fed. Of course this is only going to be because she has a drug addic arc for the rest of the season and cries a lot. The stuff back on the Titan is entertaining enough, although I wish the Captain wasn't such a crybaby cunt.
 
So I like how this Jack Crusher is Beverly and Picard's love child but is named after Beverly's first husband.

Picard's best friend or not, that's some major cuckage I think.

I kind of liked Sneed. It was like a discount Bill Burr playing a two-bit Ferengi gangster.
I hate Worf's white hair, I really do.
Bad lady was ok, still not enough info. on her.
Shaw wasn't too bad this time around, his hate boner for Picard and Seven better be good though.
Overall a solid meh.8/10.
