Aw naw, we can't be shitting on The Visitor. That was everything that people claim The Time Travellers Wife is.

DS9's willingness to put actual war crimes into our happy future space fantasy was what made it great. It could have been Adventures On The Space Station, but instead we got "sweet Julian commits a genocide" and "Kira's mom was a comfort woman and she just has to suck it up".

Also, Kira is a literal fucking terrorist and is key to the peace process. It really is not your sixties Trek.

The writers' destruction of Ferengi society in S7 comes across like "oops we made the silly space jews too likeable, time to rapidly reform their civilization at the last moment".
I realise it's probably heresy to bring up Lower Decks these days, but this does get sort of addressed in that series, with some quiet side-eying. Ferengi society is still a hyper-exploitative ancap's paradise, even after Rom has been at the helm for years. His promised reforms seem to have mostly not materialised and he acts more like a Ferengi than Quark... though, still in a very Rom way. Females are a profitable source of revenue.

To avoid spoilers, I will just say the Vic and Nog episode that tackles a very real issue is one best in the series.
I loved that ep. It was like a mini MASH episode. One of the better ones.

Quark saying to Sisko his people are better because didn't have slavery and concentration camps was bad writing since regular viewers would be aware of how the Ferengi treat their females.
On the other hand, Quark getting up on his high horse because of everyone looking down on his species is entirely what I'd expect. He's got a bit of a persecution complex, while the Federation often mistakes its ideals for reality, so it's inevitable that the two points of view would clash at some point.

If one could use an inexhaustible source of energy and convert it to matter (a type of replication), one could make a rocket motor with endless propellant -- limitless Δv.

That's why going to Voyager feels like such a boring regression.
I legit can't stand watching it, at the moment.

After watching Battlestar Galactica, that is what I expect from a TV show centered around a lone ship stranded across the galaxy, trying to make its way home with limited resources and such.

I vastly prefer Enterprise, the cast is so damn charming.

I hope you mean the original!
So say we all.

Fellow men of culture I see.
I just appreciate the whole retrò look of it all, more militaristic, since there's no Federation of Planets (yet), we got the best Vulcan crew member on a starship bridge since Spock, and a theme song that all in all introduced me to Star Trek when I was young.

I'm rewatching DS9 at the moment, it's been a few years. Goddamn, what a great series in general.

Last episode I watched was 'Trials and Tribble-ations' and I can't think of a better fan service episode. It's funny, well made, a good ode to the original series but not overly annoying. Hell, they even modified the color palette to make it closer to the original series. Plus is has Farrell in a mini-dress.

I need to give Enterprise another watch, I haven't seen it since the original airing and I wasn't impressed at the time. I think time will be kinder to it, especially after having endured some of the modern Trek series.

I loved the part with the klingons.
  • Doctor Bashir: [about the appearance of early Klingons] Those are Klingons?
  • Odo: Mister Worf?
  • Worf: They are Klingons, and it is a long story.
  • O'Brien: What happened? Some kind genetic engineering?
  • Doctor Bashir: A viral mutation?
  • Worf: We do not discuss it with outsiders.

And that is where they should have left it. Forever.

I haven't even checked out new trek. Been listening to Delta Flyers but its proven the dude who played Paris was pretty much playing himself. They are reviewing DS9 now with some of the DS9 cast. But they pay walled some shit behind like $200 paywalls.

I don't want to have to peer through 800 pages to find the answer, so has anyone here heard of or even been to Jammer's Reviews? It's a review site where this guy with a sandy sounding name rates various sci-fi products, mostly Star Trek.
If you hate the Visitor then you have no soul.
That episode was straight ass.

since I stumbled upon it looking for another picture might as well post for relevancy:

"doesn't discover shit" and "has faith of the heart" still kills me every time.

Not bad but I wish they had gone with the idea of just changing Michael Dorn's makeup to the old style while in the past and then back to normal when they returned and NEVER commented on it.
