I told a story a while back here about being a kid watching TNG and there were comments of my dad fancying Troi. I was a kid, whatever. Then years later as an adult watching TNG and being like, "oh." I see it.

Janeway was and always has been sexless to me.

On the Jan 6th stuff, the reason it was annoying is the whole sentiment around Jan 6th and the stolen election was the complete establishment bias in fortifying the election. It just felt like more of that. They'd never of used footage of people invading restaurants demanding people raise their fists in solidarity to some crimminal that overdosed on fentynal. Moving on, whatever it's just timeline appropriate footage. When we watch some film about some apocalyptic event and it'll probably have footage of civil unrest from Venezuela that is completely used in bad taste. We won't think twice.

Should I give SNW another shot?
I watched the Lower Decks crossover on recommendation of @Flexo, I think. It was a few pages back. I could only get to the second half where Mariner time travels back and meets up with Boimler. It was just too dumb for me. I will say this though Jack Quaid did a hell of a job playing Boimler. From what I remember of watching Lower Decks he was pretty spot on.

I did watch the episode that follows,"Under Cloak of War" and it was pretty good. Both Mbenga and Chapel relive some of the trauma of the Klingon war when a Klingon diplomat comes on board the Enterprise. I'd at least give that episode a shot, it felt pretty Trek like.

SNW's good outweighs the bad and I enjoy the show. There however, are annoying things. There's a weird child and adult dynamic with the crew. The bridge is a class room. "So kids, what do you think we should do?" It works but also doesn't at times.

Pike's girlfriend is quite attractive.

He voices Boimler too so it's kind of nice they got someone who can act the part in addition to voicing it.

Though it is funny after watching that when in lower decks the two mains are close to equal heights, when in real life Jack towers over... well almost everyone.

it was also contemporary shit that ages like milk, especially in this day and age. it really shows it was meant as some shitty product to be consumed and discarded to get ready for the next one.
remember this?

Meanwhile, Bad Robot Trek gives us people like Tilly who refuse to diet. Point is, maybe DS9 did lectured me by literally quoting the Communist Manifesto in an episode, but at least we had Jadzia Dax to glance at as eye candy. Now they expect me to do the same with whales and cat ladies.
also completely takes you out of the "fantasy", a meaner show runner would have tilly constantly fall on her face due to exhaustion, get stuck in shit and overall had someone like tuvok be all over her for being a fatass.
federation is still a military, and even if you ignore that no fattie would survive the stuff the usual star trek series is up to.

federation is still a military, and even if you ignore that no fat fuck would survive the stuff the usual star trek series is up to, let alone get fat in the first place.

SNW had hints of actual Star Trek content, like when the doctor uploaded his daughter's transporter pattern into a Boltzmann Brain, but then there's the musical episode. Don't bother with any Kurtzman Trek besides Lower Decks and even then, you can safely skip that.

Is... is the musical episode good? I like musical episodes. Scrubs had a good one.

I hate musicals and theater kids so I'm probably a little biased but it sucked ass. It's considered as one of the worst episodes of Star Trek. I'd rather watch Shades of Grey three times in a row instead of ever watching the musical episode again.

I have Boomer parents so I like musicals. If they're good.
Depends if you think the idea of Klingons singing K-Pop is something you'd want to check out.

No, I refuse to elaborate.
You do not need to elaborate and I do not need to know any more. That is sufficient for me to know it's terrible and do not need to see it.

Ignore the ghost and you have an interesting softcore take.

Anyway, now to the more serious questions that require immediate answering:

3, I wouldn't mind listening to the glorious banter for the next eight hours.
