I know everyone's focused on the Starfleet Academy trailer, but we also got a teaser for Strange New Worlds' fourth season.

It's, and I swear I'm not making this up, going to have a Muppet episode.

I'm not even angry, just confused. What was the thought process behind this?
Goddamn thats terrible, even for a jew writer.

And I'd like to point out that not every felt puppet is a muppet. This is a felt puppet episode. A muppet episode would include some of the cast of the trademarked Muppet franchise which this will certainly not include.

I can see why it got cancelled. Imagine pitching this dogshit.

Oh god I just watched the Trelane/Q epsiode of SNW. That has to be one of the most pointless filler episodes I've ever seen of any TV Show. John De Lancie shows up as Q in energy ball form to stop his son Trelane/Q from the shenanigans he's pulling on the Enterprise crew. Which boiled down to Christine Chappell's new bf messing around with something on a planet that he particularly liked. Ok none of this makes sense especially from a lore standpoint. Oh, they play Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham at the end.
I hate to say it, but Discovery handled having an episode with a canon character better than this one did.

In the first season, there were two episodes with a young Harry Mudd as the villain, and it works for two reasons.

1. The show looked into what Mudd and his relationship with his wife was like, revealing that even back then, he was a scumbag who only loved Stella for her connections and alluding the two would grow to hate each other.

2. The show got away with nobody knowing who Mudd was because most of the characters who interacted with him wouldn't be on the Enterprise years later when Kirk's crew encountered him. Lorca was dead, Tyler was with Section 31, and everyone on Discovery went to the future.

With Trelane, he outright goes onto the Enterprise and is shown to know more about humanity than what he was depicted as knowing in "The Squire of Gothos". For God's sake, Spock is part of the away team who encounters him. Just pull a Clone Wars and wipe the crew's memory so it fits into canon.
Do you think Worf likes Cool Ranch Doritos with his prune juice?
"It is a warrior's gamer fuel."
Lol what the fuck is this?

I genuinely thought it was too well written and complex for these hack frauds, but these fuckers have finally found DS9....the horror
Well, at least we had two decent DS9 episodes on Lower Decks. Nice while it lasted.
We wuz emissaries n' shieet!
I know you're joking, but given how often modern Star Trek tries to reference old Trek, that girl could be Jake Sisko's descendent.
A muppet episode would include some of the cast of the trademarked Muppet franchise which this will certainly not include.
So by that logic, Kermit the Frog's VA guest starring in an episode of Amphibia counts as a Muppet episode?

MYSTERIES OF THE UNEXPLAINED

They literally said he'd be back in one year. He had to teach the Prophets the concept of linear time, they could bring him back. (Please God I hope they won't)

Anyway was it confirmed in any way that the Voyager Doctor was shut down after the synths chimped out on Mars? He shows up in Prodigy a bunch and I didn't want him to be deleted. (Although I suppose there's at least one copy of him found on the planet that remembered the Voyager came in the Starfleet way)

They aren't aware of the optics... The black dad going for cigarettes and never coming back? That is what this looks like, and Avery Brooks HATED that "you're a prophet, come live with us in the wormhole, fuck your family and friends"-ending we got.

That's a common problem with a lot of religious savior stories TBH. The act of transcending to a higher plane necessitates the sacrifice of family. The Buddha is my go-to example. He had a wife and baby and an elderly father and left them for years to seek enlightenment. And I'm pretty sure his popularity came from his religion being easier to do than the various kinds of torture ascetics put themselves in.

I have been screaming this into the audient void for ten fucking years now, but the whole woke media/social media/academia/consultancy/whatever fuck you/etc sphere genuinely doesn't give a ripe aboriginal shit about anything beyond the most superficial and shallow aesthetics of the causes it claims to be upholding and furthering, which inevitably winds up with them casually and uncaringly shitting out some of the most hilariously racist/sexist/somethingphobic shit imaginable about the stunningly brave special victim groups they endlessly squeal about solely because they have zero understanding or comprehension of any of this shit on any level

As much as DS9 has been perhaps overglazed in hindsight by my estimation, first after the disappointment of Voyager and Enterprise and then especially in the endless screaming epoch of kurtzman, and how despite its better writing and acting was it was noticeably falling into some of the same traps as those other two shows as well as showing worrying signs of the hamfisted and overly contrived "topical" morality plays that would become the norm in the past decade of currentyear, though this was less overt and obnoxious than what was happening on Voyager thanks to a certain seething tattooed injun and the stories written around him

Oh its so much worse nigga, I mentioned before I recognised the name of the shaniqua playing her and how she was an execrable 00s era bongland comedian who somehow managed to keep a career in the here and now, and honestly I kinda wish they would have got Hannah Gadsby to play Fem Hadar instead because at least then I would have been able to laugh at it

Telling the truth though I genuinely don't think any of the shit we have seen in this new show could ever top this moment....

I mean...the fuck do I even have to say?

EDIT: Oh...fucking jesus I just realised that this clip is set in the same era, and given Stacey Abrams is still throwing herself in front of cameras and waddling on to talk shows to keep her place on the talking head circuit and crowdfund her gibdat mansion investigation into how drumpf is super guilty of all the things, there is a very real chance we will see her President of Earth character again...

Picard Season 2 made Rick and Morty canon in Star Trek so that makes sense. My money is on (((Kurtzman))) making K-pop canon as well.
Actually hold on a fucking second, that doesn't make any sense.

Rick and Morty debuted in 2013, wouldn't Earth be wildly different after the Eugenics Wars of the 90s and before WWIII in the 2020s? Every depiction of the "modern day" in the star trek universe has been profoundly shitty, with like half of Earth living in smoggy homeless camp poverty and the other half killing each other over resources.

Where could people find the time to reeee for szechwan sauce?

I attempted to watch Star Trek Discovery the other day. I had heard all of the complaints about it but part of me just wanted to suffer I guess.

It is impressively bad, the dialogue is awful, set design is cheap, the CGI is awful. You were all correct, it’s just the worst, STD really is a fitting abbreviation.

I have one thing to praise however. Jason Issacs is the highlight of the whole thing. By far the best and most interesting character and he acts circles around the rest of the cast. It seems like whatever movie/TV show he is in he steals the show. He is trying his best, God bless him, but even he can’t save this one.

The franchise's various forays into visiting currentyear are one of its original sins, as the standard "pick a random date 20-30 years forward from currentyear and say serious shit relevant to the story happened then" worldbuilding seeds being thrown around in TOS resulted in the timeline being hilariously fucked up come the VOY-ENT era when the next batch of "the cast visits currentyear" stories were being made.

The TOS examples and Movie IV were obviously not badly affected by it, aside from Assignment Earth being a backdoor pilot of questionable quality. TNG managed to avoid currentyear visits entirely but had a couple people from currentyear wind up in the future to be contemptuously sneered at and smugly lectured by the cast on how bad bad evil bad stupid bad they are for being Americans from the late 1980s, which while cringe as hell in and of itself wound up actually serving the wider story meta of the indolent and morally decadent federation becoming insufferably high off its own self declared perfection and thus utterly unprepared for the Borg Administered Buck Breaking they were about to receive, and DS9 managed to stay clear too.

VOY was the real fuckin sledgehammer to the timeline with that 90s era Sarah Silverman episode which ENT managed to compound with its own inept currentyear fumble, which combined were such a spanner in canon the extended universe writers had to concoct some batshit "uh....the eugenics war was actchully all done in sekrit and like the gulf war and yugoslav wars and stuff were part of it but nobody noticed." explainer because of how utterly the latter two shows fucked things up. After that we enter Nu-Trek and the only example I have unwillingly been made aware of is PIC season 2....which yeah I don't think needs further elaboration

Ironically he was one of the loudest and most insufferable "EVERYONE WHO DOESNT LIKE THIS IS RAYSISS AND SEXISS AND ARE SCARED OF STUNNINGLY BRAVE LGBTQ MINORITIES AND STUFF" shills for the show, either due to his own personal faggotry or due to the unsubtle "get the half competent and popular white male actor(s) involved in the project to denounce the haters and call them stinky bigot nazis, while simpering over how amazing the insufferable shaniqua mongoloid we cast as the main character is" PR strategy dictated by consultants which was also seen with Ewan Macgregor white knighting the insufferable shaniqua mongoloid main character in Kenobi and half the OG Lord of the Rings hobbits white knighting the insufferable shaniqua dwarf/jigaboo elf/ratface galadriel/nigger hobbit mongoloids in LAWD DEM RAAAAAAAANGZ OF POWAAAAAAA when mass audience rejection and mockery became too loud to ignore

Khandolf Singhler ruling a fifth of the planet just slipped under peoples radars, huh.
Having scanned the memory beta schizo wall articles for it its even worse.

"Uh....Khan was doing all the eugenic stuff secretly and uh....the stockbroker picard yelled at in TNG season 1 was there....the bimbo russian spy in that holodeck story Kira played was real and she like teamed up with gary seven's receptionist to take him down and uh....they like met that jack the ripper demon from TOS and uh....khan used the ship Quark crashed in Roswell in that DS9 episode to build the botany bay to escape earth"

Which honestly I can't exactly be too hard on because the actual fuck else were they gonna do after Voyager dun buggered causality like that?

Khandolf Singhler ruling a fifth of the planet just slipped under peoples radars, huh.

God Voyager was such a mess.
Well, it's not like he ruled America, the land (in canon) where 20 years later, the Bell riots would happen. When Khan talked about creating order, he was thinking of the declining state of America in his time in comparison to his own country, like how Lee Kwan Yew talked about America thirty years ago. Also, since Khan is a Sikh, that means he had to rule over Indians.
