I liked the one where Neelix dies, gets revived, realises his religion is a lie, and wants to kill himself. Had some O'Brien suffering vibes to it. Not as good as the DS9 one where O'Brien spends a lifetime in a virtual prison and ends up with PTSD over killing his imaginary friend, but pretty good nonetheless.
As much as Neelix unironically annoyed me and still annoys me on VOY, and I am talkin way back when I was first exposed as a literal baby child round bout the time it first came out AND the time I actually sat down and watched trek as an adult AND when I watched through a bunch of clips of his antics like five minutes ago, I realised today while pondering my cock that if you stuck him as he was on STD he would unironically be both the most emotionally mature and moral person on the ship as well as the most well written and multi-layered character and it wouldn't even be fucking close.

I’m sure you're not the first guy to notice this. It’s still so weird to me that Neelix was seen as a failed experiment and yet every show since has kept doubling down. The target demo on VOY was fans of Barney the Dinosaur, and now they've pivoted to theater kids who swear a lot (already outdated by 2020) but it’s all just projection. They invent this imaginary dumbass viewer in their heads and then write shows for that.

The Smithsonian is revitalizing the old Connie Big E model Gene donated. This was the model used on the TV show for it's whole run.

It should be back on display by now if your in the area.

Funny how it took the local Fan Club to raise the 100K needed to revamp and restore the old Lady and notice that she wasn't looking too good. And it took the fans to tell the Smithsonian the proper colors and paints because when they got the Big E they only took black and white photos as part of the collection. When the time came to repaint her they had no idea of what the proper colors should be, they had to turn to the fans who once again came through with old color behind the scenes photos and videos. Some of which had never been seen before outside of their owners.

Truly the competency crisis is real.

On the off chance people here haven't seen it, Adam Savage did a video visiting the restoration.

About 10 years ago I saw this thing in the gift shop. It was an instant, "that doesn't look right" at the paint job. I looked for a photo but couldn't find one. Despite having photos from that day :(

While I find it unlikely I didn't take a photo, it may have been too dark. Or for some reason I just took it on my phone and it didn't go into the back up with my camera photos.

I was rewatching "A Night in Sickbay" (ENT), a lot of people say that it's one of the worst episodes but to me it felt like a TOS episode.

Those gross parasite aliens from "Conspiracy" (TNG) are like the brain slug aliens from Futurama.

Futurama - Brainslugs Campaign - Space Fry

transcript said:
Woman: We favour unreasonably huge subsidies to the Brain Slug Planet.

Fry: OK, but what are the Brain Slugs who control you gonna do for the working man?

Woman: Attach Brain Slugs to them.

Fry: [sarcastic] Sure, you say that now!
(from the episode "A Head in the Polls")

It’s the best kid-centric Star Trek episode ever, because this time it’s personal and the monster of the week is the kids themselves.:story:
What a coincidence the entire senior stuff on that boat got killed and only the retard squad-members survived, lol.

I feel like in the 24th century every aspiring female leader is gonna model herself after Nechayev, the same way every bad bitch PM tries to ape Thatcher, and the results are gonna be just as catastrophic.
Yeah, but they literally named that one Karen. And the only reason why she doesn't ask the black and alien kids that come aboard her ship to see their manager is because she is the manager. I feel comfortable adding that to the pile of things Star Trek predicted.

I think it's just insecurity. Older Treks might have plopped some confused sitcom writers in the writers' room who had never done sci-fi but they'd at least try to output stuff fitting the job description. Current Trek writers know what Star Trek is and want the prestige, but they also know they can't live up to it so they make a big cartoonish show of writing "not your daddy's star trek!"
Like, you can't fail if you don't try, right? They want everybody to know they aren't even trying to do the job. It's this way on purpose, okay?

You see Wesley, if you push expectations low enough then your failure to live up to them won't seem like as big of a failure.

Did... DS9 invent the Karen meme decades early?

At least they had the decency to kill her off.
Nog: Jake, don't you hew-mons call annoying people "Karens"?

They made the mistake of not being in a cartoon. The kids in Prodigy barely survived an encounter with the Borg, while Dead Squad was blown to smithereens by the Jem'Hadar.

So... Who do you think did most damage between these 3?
alex kurtzman to Star Trek.
Katleen kennedy to Star Wars.
Or the chibnall/davis duo with Doctor Who?

Star Trek has the most hope with the Skydance acquisition. Star Wars is fucked but will limp on for a few more years. When KK leaves her protege Carrie Beck will take over. She's the one responsible for the Reylos and other Tumblr-esque fanfiction shit. Doctor Who is beyond fucked now that Disney has pulled out and fewer people are paying their TV license fee so they may not be around in a decade. Paramount could always make a Gary 7 show and fullfill Rodenberry's vision of ripping off Doctor Who.
