Species 8472 is like VOY going, “What if they're stronger than Borg, but uh...we don’t feel like explaining it.” Nanites don’t work on them? That’s it? Their blood is like, “No thank you.” They’re also jacked, they’ve got a billion ships, and they’re like, “Anyway we’re staying home.”:blart:

The war ends because Janeway gives them a Talk. Classic Trek shit. Of course one of them is an alien MILF who’s immediately like, “Your first officer is fine."

Entire species is otherwise forgettable. The only fun part is Ray Walston showing up (I’ve never seen My Favorite Martian but I’m told I’m supposed to clap.) Kate Vernon is another person I like.

I just remember them as le Xenomorph race, but not bugs. Much like how the Hirogen are not-Predator. Somehow, these TV knock-offs are better than modern Alien and Predator.

Yeah, Walston shows up in that episode about the Starfleet Academy hazing scandal and Robert Duncan McNeill shows up playing Tom Paris before he went to jail (renamed to avoid paying royalties). This was later used as a gag on Lower Decks, which is on brand because LD is basically Reddit: The Show.

VOY rolls around and Janeway thinks, "Huh what a coincidence this guy is exactly the same,” but Ray Walston never talks to him again.
 
Apparently Youtube is gonna be playing the series premiere of Starfleet Academy tomorrow. I might have to bite the bullet and hate watch it and see how cringe it really is. From what I hear it's by far the most Kurtzman of all the Kurtzman Treks.

Alas, Picard wasn't accepted at his first try, IICR. Looks like even a mongoloid could make it during ST Academy time in Star Trek.

Thing is, they could make it funny without making the characters stupid.

I absolutely love that they had to make the chick taller then the villain.

Yup, that's a surefire way to create an intimidating and noteworthy villain, make your protagonist literally look down at him the first time they meet. They've learned nothing from STD and it's cringe-fest disaster.

All I will say is;

It buuuuurns us.
 
Paul Giamatti is the actor you hire to be a kind teacher.

They just couldn't make a show about a normal Academy where people learn about ethics and science. Its' gonna be 90210 in Space indeed.

They don’t even really show it. Instead B’Elanna just shouts, "It's not space, it's matter!", and we got a shot of VOY floating in a sea of orange, like that Piss Christ photo.
