I would love to see a nearly thousand year old Dax go all Gunnery Sgt Hartman channeling the disappointment of every WW2 Veteran who lived to see current year. Just full old man rage let loose.

I could just see it, Dax giving a special guest lecture to Starfleet students. Spying the half-Klingon, half-Jem'Hadar. The slow pan as their head turns to Gayden and the knife hand comes up and the lecture begins with "Every second you let that abomination live, you dishonor your House and the Empire. I did not fight four wars against the Dominion so you could just let one walk in here and sully an XXXL Starfleet uniform." Head then pans to autistic hologram. "Alright, whoever programs these things should be ashamed of themselves. Find out who made that, and then tell them to make it hot...you know what make it me when I was Ezri Dax, circa end of the First Dominion War and send it to my quarters. After you all hear what I am about to say. You're all gonna think I can go fuck myself and you know what...I'm gonna get all Tom Paris in that."
"And you! So-called Chancellor! Put on some shoes for God's sake! You're five hundred years old and still haven't mastered shoelaces?!"

That Dax looks like a tranny. I don't think it is, but looks like.

I'm sure that, for a lot of morons, trills are "tRaNs cOdeD".

I get that this is TV-14 Trek and not a show for adults but it's crazy how it drags everyone's dignity down.

For a light-skinned negress she isn't that ugly.

They could have had her hide her Tril spots with her hair until the end of the episode. A better ending for the episode would be her revealing her Tril spots while the DS9 theme plays. But no, they had to say she was a Dax five or six times because the writers are retarded.

I don’t watch NuTrek anymore, but I catch clips here and there and I’ve noticed a recurring theme: the “multicultural” crowd reaction shot.

Every clip I’ve seen from a NuTrek show includes this exact shot, it’s wild how frequently it shows up once you notice it.

Years ago I saw a post on reddit talking about how the Tril were trans coded. It was 1997 you retarded tranny, the only trannies we knew about were the ones on Jerry Springer.
Dax is more "trans" that these people claim to be because ST is science fiction and the symbiont is still moved from body to body. He can be one day male, other female, but the thing is, it adapts to the host. Dax acts like a woman during DS9 because Dax is inside a female's body.

He's of course, not trans. It's a completely different situation. But I wouldn't doubt many of these people would whack their sister in the head and "transplant" their consciences into them if they could.

You can only go so far with the "Starfleet is recovering from the Burn" excuse.
Earth when discovering warp was recovering from a terrible catastrophe and they were not this bad.

My dad grew up watching Star Trek. I recently discovered that Shari Lewis (Patron Saint of Ventriloquism and one of the Saints of children's educational television) wrote an episode?! And Lucille Ball was the one who either greenlit the show, or she pushed for CBS to air it.

I just think that's neat. (BTW the Shari Lewis documentary is fantastic)

So it turns out she worked on The Lights of Zetar episode of Star Trek.
This was an excellent recommendation. Thank you. It's nice to actively watch an episode on someone's recommendation and really see it, instead of just background watching. I've watched every episode, but today with fresh appreciation. It's a delight to watch classy older television.

Its these wholesome moments on the farms that we should all cherish. I recommend the recent documentary on her too!

She was apparently supposed to play Mira Romaine (whether she wrote it for herself or not is unclear, according to the actress who played the character, Shari was there during the casting)

I'll check it out sometime for sure.

The Lights themselves were beautiful. Modern slop would create sophisticated CGI garbage, but the limitations of the time produced an effect which is simple and captivating, like the fire of gemstones. It looked beautiful in her eyes too.

nu-Dax visits Jake Sisko's podcast to talk about the Sisko episode, and I think listening improves it. I guess she hasn't talked about it in other interviews, but Tawny Newsome's DS9-loving father was dying of cancer while she was working on this, and the episode has obvious parallels to reality here. Nice that he got to read the script before he passed. :feels:
Anyway, first half's the real meat of the podcast, the second half is Patreon supporters crying on Zoom.
I am now looking forward to there only being two good episodes of Starfleet Academy (Jonathan Frakes directed one this season so that one's probably a 7 or 8 out of 10.)

I've decided Holly Hunter is playing a Caitian, not a Lantern Fight or whatever (ACKSHUALLY Lanthanite).
