A DS9 skit on Jay Leno's late night show:

It's better than anything Kurtzman has made. Fun Kurtzman Fact of the Day: He helped write the Michael Bay Transformers movies.

Stumbled across this in my recommended feed. Very critical of Starfleet Academy, but good grief, does this guy suck Holly Hunter's dick hard.
"Hollywood Royalty"? Since when? Maybe I don't watch enough movies, but I've never thought of Holly Hunter as an A-list celebrity or anything. Besides, she suggested her insufferable character should lounge around in her chair like a sped with severe ADD, fuck her.

The weird thing is Holly Hunter is a good actress but here she either doesn't give a single solitary shit about her performance or for whatever bizarre reason the director wants he to act like a retarded cat.

Your call I guess.

Is this another AI channel?

I mean, would you?

This thing has all the hallmarks of a career-ending disaster for many people, and I guess plenty among the cast are regretting signing the contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if many of them were phoning it in as much as possible in the hopes their character gets killed off, freeing them from wasting the next however many years on this trainwreck.

«Edith Keeler [...] was going to save the world by saying Hitler was a good person» - Dame Joan Collins
Really makes you think.

Hitler, for a hot minute, was treated the way Milei gets treated now: he was going to “bring order” to a country everyone had decided was communist.

I don’t think Alexis Colby is swooning over the Mein Kampf man. The last war was a family feud between other mustached men, so she politely ignored this one.

That only matters to the actual celebrities like her and Picardo. Everyone else are community College actors.

The 90s Trek shows were often featured in live media, even Voyager. That's because everybody watched them back them. They were not just a nerd thing. The nerds were involved in fandom stuff, but people just simply watched the shows for being entertaining.

Also, Holly Hunter can always say "yeah, I have an Oscar" and walk out this shit show with her career unscathed. People willingly will forget she was part of this.

Either she forgot what happened since it was almost 60 years ago or missed the point of the episode entirely.

I love how this sketch implies that Quark has a history with Jay Leno the same way he has a history with Odo.

I'm more perplexed at the fact that doing anything to a Ferengi's ear is of a sexual nature to them. And Quark certainly acted like it was and liked it.

So Quark is gay for Leno?

Or Ferengis are like dogs where neither of them cares over what gender of the person who's giving them a good belly or ear rub is.

Joan Collins disliked her role in Star Trek for the most bit.

She mocked it several times, saying she just did it for Xmas money or because he son wanted her too. She and that other stage actor in the episode (Jon Harmon) openly mocked the crew and cast saying it was "a silly little TV show" and "just another little gig for spare change". Since they were famous stage actors and big wigs they felt belittled to be doing a tv episode I guess. That or they were just cunts.

Despite this...she still did a very good job and you wouldn't have guessed her personal feelings from watching the episode. Her portrayal of Keeler is still pretty moving to this day.

And of course long after when question on it she said " it was a memorable and sweet role whose significance I was completely unaware of". I think this was after Shatner convinced her to attend a Star Trek convention in the 90's. I think old Billy had a serious crush on Collins personally.

Funny thing is Collin's memory will live on longer as Edith Keeler then any of the drama shows or soap opera's she was so proud of.

That makes me happy.

Teri Garr had some real “who are these people” words to say about Trekkies back when Trek had way more cultural cachet than it does now.

It also puts me in mind of Hartnell and Ford bitching about Doctor Who like it was the single worst mistake of their lives.

Joan at least has the excuse of being British so she doesn't have the bandwidth to see things from Hitler's POV. "Well, let’s consider the complexities..."
