Holy fuck I'm dying here, my brother showed me a CrackerMilk skit the other day that I can't get out of my head right now and it's completely undermined this moment.

JESUS CHRIST THEY CONFESSED THEIR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER AT THE END OF THIS SCENE, I AM DECEASED
EDIT: No wonder all of this seemed so hammy it was making me think of a comedy skit, it's Dominion changeling retardation

I know Voyager has been a bit of a punching bag,
I even took shots at DS9 just so nobody could say I’m biased.

I'm like the UN of being a hater.

But the deck is stacked against Voyager.

The upside is nobody cares about Star Trek enough anymore to get mad. It's freeing. Star Wars is a religion. I was talking to a friend at work and I said something about Portman's acting and the guy looked like I shot his dog.

Another time, this Gen X dude starts explaining how Star Wars is about unity and overcoming evil and community in times of turmoil 🥱 He stopped mid sentence and said "I'm losing you". I was trying to look attentive, but my eyes glazed over regardless.
I'm kinda curious if Koenig is a dick, I don't seem to hear too much about him compared to Shatner or Takei.
He does the same circuit as Doohan and Takei: ninety percent “this show ruined my life” with a little light character assassination and 10% talking about B5.

He did speak warmly about Anton Yelchin and reached out to his parents, (Walter lost his own son to suicide.)

The sex scene goes on for for the first three minutes of the episode. There's a Deltan reference. 'member the Deltans? I 'member.

And here we go!

The Federation was an evil colonizer, just like AmeriKKKa!

If anything retarded happens I'll post it but I'm tired, boss. I survived The Acolyte but this, this is worse.

She's not a sperg, as far as I've seen myself. I mean, she's not obligated to like him.

Let's not forget the poster boy for progressive shit in fiction, Wil Wheaton.
Oh shit I forgot about Weasley.

I liked him in Babylon 5 so I'll assume he's nice until proven wrong (once more).

I know Voyager has been a bit of a punching bag, but did anyone else see this announcement today?

Where on earth did this come from? What, why, and how? I have so many questions, but...honestly, even if it -as a game- it ends up being not that great, it looks like it'd be awesome as just a 3D free-roam ship sim of the Voyager. Most of the ship appears fully modeled inside and out:

Yes I'm aware of Elite Force and still love it to pieces, but that game is over 25 years old and was built on the Quake III engine. I'm still absolutely dumbfounded that something like this is being made, especially considering it's Voyager of all things and not an Enterprise.
iirc it doesn't have any voice acting and they couldn't even use phaser sounds, maybe due to some weird rights issues? Very odd choice.
If the demo was anything to go by then it’s hot dogshit. There’s no voice acting at all and none of the models look quite right. Worst part is the performance, it’s UE5 and entirely unoptimized.

Might be one of those games that’s worth a buy on sale.

I remember she said, "You're dead to me," to Kirstie Alley when Kirstie supported Trump.
Then Kirstie actually died not so long after that. Marina Sirtis is a total piece of shit just like Wheaton and Stewart.
Did... did Marina Sirtis kill Kirstie Alley?
I'm kinda curious if Koenig is a dick
Just don't ask him to speak Russian, and you'll be good.

It doesn't help that Star Wars is more mainstream to younger generations. Love or hate them, but a lot of Gen Zers grew up on the Prequels. There's not a lot of people with the same kind of passion towards Enterprise or even the Abrams movies. Hell, a new Star Wars movie is coming out in a few months while we haven't had a theatrically released Star Trek film in almost a decade.
And here we go!

They already swear and have extreme violence so why not go full frontal too, or is that an insult to Roddenberry's legacy? Give us alien titties!

Monkey paw curls: just floppy dongs as the Gayden and Bluey go at it.

No other star trek game is going to beat Elite Force or Bridge Commander. Hands down

Then they proceeded to take 8472 and write them into being super lame and gay. Weren't they taking human form and hitting on Chakotay?
Think that was the episode they found the Federation infiltration thing and Chakotay was sent in to investigate. If that episode was the only one that actually showed us 8472 I think Id be okay with that

Wait, this isn't an edit? This is actual dialogue from the episode?
It's not an edit, that's the actual dialogue in the episode. Said by a Starfleet cadet to his superior officer.

The Vulcan War College cadet, who's name is Bobby, dies and the gay blonde guy who want's Jay'Den's Klingon cocks puts a comic book on his body during his funeral.

Racewar 1488,honor has been satisfied. Stay down
I've got three more episodes, honor demands I see it through!

lol, I forgot Ben Wyatt was in First Contact.

Do you believe the Federation is as sinister and Quark and Garak implied it was? As a bubbly and sweet face but it slowly corrupts its neighbors, erasing their greater culture and identity and subsuming them into itself

Eddington was right:

The Federation is Globohomo on a galactic scale. It's only goal is to absorb foreign cultures and make them into the same beige-colored boring nightmare that is the Federation. Have you ever wondered why you never see a jew officer on a Star Fleet ship? They're all at the Federation capital plotting and scheming.

Not in the show. Star Trek Online calls them "Undine", but that's non-canon.

Admiral Vance and Holly Hunter getting cucked by Paul Giamatti for an hour? I guess I'll take it. How is the Federation so fucking retarded?

I think it's obviously a military power pretending it's not. Even the edgier section 31 from ds9 never really went to far beyond protecting the federation.

It would make a interesting premise for a show but given what we can see beyond Bajor they rarely try to bring in all that many cultures. In first contract seems more like trade deals and non aggression packs. I feel like the criticism would be more genuine coming from klingons, Vulcans, or Romulans. Ferengi and Cardassians were chosen because their cultures are build on distrust.

Agreed, then again the Romulans are also built on distrust but aptly have a lot more history with the federation on screen than the Ferengi or Cardassians

I think the difference is in culture of the two races. Romulans distrust everything but beyond expanding their own borders and ensuring their own superiority they don't really pick rights. Early federation the Romulans were more concerned with destabilizing rivals then full in conquest.

Cardassians are conquers and extremely ambitious. They want to rule openly and are noisy about it. It's both distrust but it's overt vs subtle power.

A fully fleshed out 4d total war style star trek game would be a rather interesting scenario to play through. I know there is a stellaris spin off based mostly on ds9

The key underlying problem the Federation has in regards to other nations is their perceived hypocrisy. Somewhere in this thread, I talked about the Federation's irresponsible colonization policy as the means of the government getting rid of their undesirables like the Bringloidi, the Navajo, or the Maquis. After all, it's better to dare people who don't agree with Fed policy to go off and create their own colonies than to imprison them. There are so many colonists that the Feds don't keep track of them all. However, to other nations, colonists are not private citizens homesteading free real estate, but Fed citizens constantly expanding their sphere of influence. It also doesn't help that the colonists are frontiers people at best, grifters like Jason Vigo, Cyrano jones, and Harry Mudd at medium, and at worst gang members like Turkana IV. Thus, the Federation often leaves a bad impression to the Shelliak Corporate, the Tzenkethi, the Gorn, the Talarians, the Tholians, and the Cardassians, to say nothing about the other major powers.

So, the Federation talks a lot about its ideals to liberal democracy and the Prime Directive while also constantly expanding its territory using private citizens, whom are often defended by Starfleet. The colonies themselves may become hubs of criminal activity like Turkana IV and then the Fed's reaction is to say it's not their responsibility. The Prime directive is disregarded mostly by Kirk, for moral reasons, but the more exceptions are made to a rule, the less of a rule it actually is.
