Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

I actually genuinely forgot about the doctor in B5 when I wrote that post.
In fairness, apart from Kelley, Picardo, and maybe Doc Cottle from Battlestar, the ship’s doctor is always a walking stethoscope. "The patient is stable."

On Babylon 5 they couldn’t even commit to a doctor.

He looks like a president-for-life with twelve titles.

Oh wow, an estranged father. Groundbreaking.

1000121335.jpg

There’s the stim addiction storyline, and the Mars arc where he and Marcus turn into a buddy cop duo. He has some Bond-adjacent sex with the rebel leader. That's it.

I’m just finding out that this actress also played the butch Celtic woman who falls in love with the Doctor in that Beowulf episode.

And apparently she was almost cast as T’Pol. She dodged the decon gel room! Respect.
That's exactly the same kind of resting bitch face he does on the blu ray interviews too
She only speaks up to roast somebody.

Braga airily says, “We’re guests in the fans’ homes”, and she interjects, “And their basements. And their bodies.”

What a brutal correction. I can see why she left acting. :story:

You know what bugs me the most about the Enterprise opening and that Brian Adams song.
What do you think of the alternate opening?

STAR TREK ENTERPRISE 'In a Mirror, Darkly' Opening Titles (HQ)

- ENTERPRISENX01

(Before it gets to the Terran Empire stuff it seems to be a more accurate portrayal of real history.)

This intro is cool and all, but subsequent Star Trek, among many other lessons, took the wrong one from it.

JJ Trek primarily took and teaches the lesson that violence is the best way to resolve conflict, much like the Mirror universe.
Shame that a series about optimism for the future and humanity really progressing -- "the human adventure is just beginning" -- is now a "grimdark" series with The Message™.

I don't say this to defend JJ Trek, but that ship had already sailed 15 years earlier when Berman made the TNG movies as shitty action flicks staring Patrick "XXXTreme" Stewart.

Oh, you wanted an intelligent sci-fi adventure? Sorry, all's I got is mad max car chases and the captain rope-swinging around an engineering room filled with acid. Berman was pretty creatively bankrupt long before the decon-chamber softcore scenes on Enterprise, and years before JJ started his vandalism.

NGL though, the Battle of Sector 001 was pretty boss on the big screen.

He was a 'steady hand on the wheel' whose only move is not turning the wheel.

The Viacom merger happened and the shit hit the fan. Berman turned into this sort of Dorian Gray painting as standards in the company declined.

It's a neat meta nod to the universe being altered. What the opening would be if this was the real univere. It's kinda sad that now this is what Star Trek actually became.

If you find some good ones, post them. We need new, good Trek content or else I will declare martial law and force everyone to watch and discuss Babylon 5, Sliders, and/or Space: Above and Beyond.
I'm always down to discuss Space: Above and Beyond. Also Farscape, Lexx, Seaquest: DSV, Earth 2, Terra Nova, Firefly, Total Recall 2070 and a bunch of other shows I'm forgetting right now that were most likely cancelled way too early or, while not being actually all that good, had a premise that deserves a better execution.
I miss the late 90s/early 2000s...

You know what bugs me the most about the Enterprise opening and that Brian Adams song. While I actually like the song, I like the message and it is fitting, it's just annoying because it doesn't feel like Star Trek and worse yet, the ending theme is clearly meant to be the Enterprise theme. It's motif shows up in the show a lot and it actually feels like a Star Trek theme and the classic guitar help give it that "It's Star Trek, but a little contemporary". I'd love to hear a opening version of it. Since usually in all three other series the Ending was basically a more upbeat version of the opening theme.

Edit: Also am I the only one who feels that without the Paramount jingle the theme isn't complete?
They made the theme song even worse.
Season 1 and 2 sounds like christian pop, Season 3 onwards sounds like country music.

I have to admit though; it's terribleness makes it memorable.

Sarah Connor Chronicles ending on a cliffhanger the instant they got to the future was bullshit. I know you didn't name that show but I'm still salty about it and had to sperg.

Tilly so fat Captain Sulu catalogues her gaseous anomalies. In other news, I have declared a jihad on all theater kids. Inshallah, we shall throw them into the sea.
Why does her voice sound muffled? Did they mess up the placement of the mic under her jacket?

They know this is the last chance to make Woke Trek so they're going balls to the wall. There's rumors they'll be dumping season 2 later this year before Kurtzman's contract isn't renewed.
If it's a Doomock rumor then it's false.
Also every new show these days gets a second season order before the first one airs (SW The Acolyte being the exception). It's a way to manipulate the narrative to reassure the investors.

Haha, goatees!

Also there’s been like forty of these across every show. At this point the Mirror Universe isn’t funny.
We get it, you hate Enterprise.
