Whatever they do next with Star Trek it had better not be another cameo fest, remake, or prequel.

Please just set it about a hundred years after Voyager so they can have a clean slate without relying on cameo of actors in their 80s and make it about a good cast of characters on a new Enterprise exploring the galaxy and dealing with some new big bad, not just The Borg or the Klingons again, and for the love of god please let good sci-fi writers work on it, even if they just want to pitch one episode listen to the pitch like they did for TOS. Star Trek can't take another series that is viewed by fewer than half a million people.

I really hope they fix this.
Well, you could have a series about Captain Ezri Dax commanding a ship doing classic 5-year mission stuff in the far flung places in the beta quadrant far beyond the Klingon Empire's borders. Nicole de Boer is 55. So, you have a cameo of someone who isn't in his 80s and about to croak. And you have a reasonable tie into older Trek-series.

This is her last year. I'd still want to see if her spots go all the way down.

That's the last thing Star Trek needs at this point because it'll keep it as a 10 episode season where the writers will attempt, and fail, at creating GoT in space or copy DS9. Treat it more like TNG where there are a couple of antagonist races but it's more of a Cold War-style conflict which would prevent the writers from creating a CGI bukkake scene every episode where ships that all look the same are pew-pewing at each other.

Well yeah, I would like longer seasons and mostly stand alone alone episodes.

When I said a new big bad I was thinking more of some new race The Federation could be competing with in a cold war, but you are right modern writers and producers would screw that up so better to give it a miss all together.

I feel like you could do a lot with the cardassians after ds9. I would be interested in a show staring them with the federation as villians constantly meddling with their slaves cultural exchange programs.

If Japan and the explosion of the romantasy genre in books are any indications, you can sell a lot of stuff to both male and female demographics by making it spicy.
American comics know this...

Oh wait. What did I see on stands recently...

They know what they need. They are just in denial.

That's basically my fanfiction. The Romulans and the Federation turn Cardassia into a cold war battleground.

I like a big ass on a superhero, no shame in that.

But some of those Spider girl covers are classically bad. They stretch the torso like it belongs on a male bodybuilder, then bolt on these ridiculous birthing hips. It's only the spider women getting this treatment, maybe that's just the style or something.

She was my favorite Dax, I have a thing for cute girls so I would watch.

At this point they’ve defibrillated every single classic character.

They brought back Ro….Big whoop. Didn’t excite me in the slightest. Seeing Michelle Forbes again was great, of course, but it’s obvious the producers don’t give a fuck about these people as characters, they’re just callbacks.

You'd have to bring some of the old 90s writers back from retirement, but nah, that would actually threaten all the hacks cashing checks for doing nothing.

As long as that attitude rules the day, Star Trek will continue to be a lifeless cash grab.

Keep that capeshit out of my Trek thread, that's an order.

Romantasy is written by women (and men using female pseudonyms to be published at all) for women. Do you really want classic Trek to be written by wine aunts, trannies or failed fanfic fujos? Note that the overlap of those groups is enormous. What we got the past 10 years was a glimpse at how that'll look like: everyone is a faggot and incompetent by skilled male author standards. With those idiots in charge, you'll see the incompetent faggots fuck. You have been warned.

They've had MJ be Venom for over a year but had her look like a man.
Well, stuff like that is the reason why I stopped reading the big two.

Every time there's a creative crisis, the writers pass the mantle of a more-famous character to some random asshole. Like it's not really a new character, it's just Kraven with different pants.

And it's over and forgotten about in 6 months, anyway.

Future Jake doesn't look like Tony Todd. Star Trek: Quality Learing Academy is non-canon.

What if we talked about the pin up trek comic covers?
