Star Trek - Space: The Final Frontier

Deny it all you like, I know what I seen't.

Not sure I'd go that far but your point about getting to things faster with less filler is spot on. I think generally it's just better written too. Could also be that it feels refreshing to look at SF races that aren't fucking Klingons or Vulcans.
I mean it would almost have to be when you rip off Lord of the Rings.

Speaking of Sci-Fi channel, any recommendations for shows they produced besides Farscape and the Galactica reboot? I watched Farscape not too long ago for the first time since it aired. Amazing, as always.
My boi Cecil got you.

(and even more episodes if you want more)

Claudia was also in Atlantis!

...Atlantis episode of Hercules, that is.

Herc was like the farm league, every character in Hercules would later show up on Xena and vice versa.

It's hard to think of characters unique to Hercules other than his blond oompa loompa.

I just need to vent a sec. Anyone else really pissed about Trek coming to Magic the Gathering in December?

Who is OG enough to have played the first or second edition of the game?

Before he saved earth, he was young Hercules...

I would recommend the Majuular video for anyone interested in the background of Tek War, fun video and seems to cover almost all of it.

Toronto isn't well suited for this dystopia thing.:story:

These Tek dealers are such wimpy useless villains. It reminds me of that old RoboCop TV series.

Lexx hate, now I know this thread is full of boomers! Farscape gets tons of praise for being "weird", but I've been making my way through the first season and I've yet to have my mind blown. Lexx was real gonzo and a little creepy. A couple of great episodes:

Farscape really takes the entire first season to find it's legs, when they switch villains it picks up A LOT.

Lexx is weird and boring all the way through.

Not me, it is just more slopification of IP, no different from the Doritos flavored tacos that Taco Bell used to sell. As corporate consolidation accelerates you'll start to see all kinds of crazy combinations of products (but don't you DARE do anything like that yourself, don't want to wind up like Chris-Chan!) Imagine scenes where Picard talks about his favorite Snapple flavors in custom AI generated episodes of TNG s8.

No... I am a really casual player though. We get precon theme decks for game night and play every now and then. So far we got warhammer and final fantasy. Find the themed decks easier to get people not into tcgs to play.

I can get why a fan of mtg as a IP would get annoyed. You can squint and warhammer and final fantasy match the theme fairly well trek really doesn't.

I want to see her tummy...
Yeah she just shows up looking cool and then sits there like she’s waiting for an Uber in the mirror universe.

1000135331.jpg

Quark is hitting on her, he wants a long-distance relationship…bobs and vagine across dimensions.:suffering:

They keep doing that same joke where the woman isn’t into the male character because she’s already dating somebody even weirder. That joke is older than my Senator.

This mirror universe is just so lazy, man. What if everyone was the same… but slightly different. Leeta has a grunge haircut or something? r e b e l l i o u s.

I'm not angry as a MTG player.

I'm angry as a Star Trek fan and player.

My buddies and I are some o.g. CCG players. See I remember the days when the game boom first happened. Everybody was trying to be like magic. (and little has changed)

Say what you will about them, but Decipher deliberately tried to zig wherever MTG was zagging. That's what kept a lot of us playing through some of the more insane Trek and Wars developments over the years - is that the games were so very different from MTG.

Star Wars being like MTG at least makes some sense (and SWU has finally perfected the SW formula and done it in a pretty MTG-like format). But Trek? Trek was always about more than conflict. Yeah I don't always enjoy Euro-style games of competitive solitaire, but that is totally befitting what Star Trek is. "We're just the Federation out here doing our thing." "Hah! Well I'm the Borg and I want to fuck up your day!"

Shoving it into MTG is ruining both franchises and raping their spirits.

Farscape's first season is a bit rough, but gets better in hindsight as the later seasons arcs work to justify and reframe the first season.

Crichton's arc especially highlights the drastic journey he takes from who his character was in season 1 (happy go lucky spaceman) and what he eventually becomes (won't spoil it) due to all the BS he goes through as the show goes on.

Its solidly in my top 3 sci-fi franchises and might even be my number 1 above DS9 and Babylon 5.

How? I haven't played MtG since Clinton was president so I'm way behind but how does this work?
We don't know yet. They announced very little and only showed some art pieces.

I am NOT experiencing bij right now.

My only solace would be that it draws more from Kurtzman Trek and less the good stuff.

Heck when universus did Star Trek, they at least did Lower Decks which has.... some logic in a fight game and can be a bit more goofy.

I consider myself a fucking walking depository of Trek shit and I have never subjected myself to a second of TekWar.

Has anybody actually watched this thing? It sounds like a really stupid "Drug War" premise. So instead of fentanyl or coke or anything, people are getting addicted to virtual reality mind goo or something, “Tek.”

And then, if I remember right, you’ve got this businessman (Shatner) fighting TekCrime, like he's in Charlie’s Angels.

The main character is some guy named Jake. Jake. Of course it’s a Jake. Jake is not a real name. I am automatically suspicious of any character called Jake.

He’s half-posed like a hero. Like it pains him to be seen holding this prop gun.
I vaguely recall watching the first one with some nerd buddies a while back, I think it had some okay ideas but was a total slog to get through?
there's a lot better 90s no-budget cyberpunk-ish drek
