Also, I'm fluffing for The Conscience of the King, probably my favorite episode of TOS. Do we know what happened to Kodos in the Kelvin timeline, btw?
Do you think the people who make/ruin Trek these days even know who Kodos is, let alone care?

For whatever reason Chrome doesn't play nice with movie night and won't let me log in as a guest account. I was in for a viewing of The Craft once and then I tapped out during some shitty zombie movie.

I use a compeltely stripped down fork version of modern Firefox without even an adblocker installed that seems to work, its just such a resource hog on my old rotary calculator that its occasionally jank, but it does manage to kind of work. My main fork of Firefox seems to work until the actual movie plays, then I have to switch over.

Its likely that the timeline was just so divergent Kirk never even ended up on that planet. Maybe that's why Kelvin Kirk comes off as such a fucking arrogant douchebag instead of the more calm and discerning Captain Kirk we know from TOS and the movies. It too bad he's characterized as such a shithead, I think Chris Pine is a pretty good actor.

Definitely. My review of Wonder Woman was "it's nice to see Chris Pine finally play Captain Kirk."

Local television channel is on their third back to back run through of Voyager. They've been stuck in a cycle of starting at episode 1, showing one episode a weekday all the way till they reach the second to last episode then restarting back at episode one. I don't get it.

This forum could probably use a "wtf" rating. I mean, say what you will about Endgame, but why just stop short each time?

I like how the Star Trek books set in the OG timeline finally quit jerking off the Borg and ended them definitively. They started out as pretty badass in TNG and ended as borderline lame in Voyager. The EU books did their best to rebuild their badass cred before finally giving them an honorable burial at the height of their rebuilt badass cred before it could go to shit again.

Has anyone checked out the Big Finish Star Trek audio dramas books?

I'm a big fan of their Doctor Who stuff, but this seems like a departure from those in that it's a guy I don't recognize narrating a book trilogy. (And a book trilogy that was apparently originally written in German to boot)

Just listened to sfdebris background on trek: beyond and... damn they really made an effort on that film. Will definitely post a link when it goes public.

For now, here's a short trek review.

ST: Beyond wasn't that bad, it's actually the only JJ-verse movie that actually tried to be a Trek movie. The first act felt like Trek, then it slowly turned into another Bad Robot movie.

It did. Chuck will go over the first draft that Orsi had submitted and it sounds like an absolute mess.

Assuming the review can even go up. Some kind of equipment failure knocked out almost his entire archive of Star Trek reviews.
