Racial mottoes in Star Trek:

Vulcans: "Because Logic!"

Klingons: "Because Glory!"

Andorians: "Because Honor!"

Ferengi: "Because Profit!"

Changelings: "Because Solids!"

Cardassians: "Because the State!"

Romulans: "Because [redacted]!"

Humans: "BECAUSE IT'S THERE!!!"
Do Andorians really care that much about honor? I guess they kind of do... (Shram literally could not sleep until he repaid his debt to Archer... I guess that's sort of honor-related?) But "honor" is definitely the driving force for almost *all* (post TOS) Klingons. Glory, not *that* much.

Klingons did care a bit about glory, tho. They sought honor for their family name and glory for the Empire. I think the difference is the concept of honor between the two races. Whereas the Klingons are more concerned with not doing things to bring themselves dishonor, the Andorians lean more towards trying to find ways to bring themselves honor, for instance by serving in their military.
Think of it as 2 halves of the Samurai mentality. You have to protect your honor (Klingons) but also do things to increase it (Andorian).

You aren't wrong... but if you had to ascribe "honor" to one, and only one, race in Trek, which Trek race would that be for you?
I'd bet Klingons...

I honestly am not sure about that. You do have Klingons like Worf and his brother Kurn who seem pretty serious about their honor, so does General Martok, but then you get assholes like the Duras family and Chancellor Gowron and those people are about as honorable as a fucking Nausicaan.

Ok yeah there are some dishonorable Klingons... (Which honestly makes the race in general better imo) But be honest-
Andorians vs Klingons which race *in general* would you say values honor more?

I was just responding to @Cyril Sneer (who is still a super cool dude)'s post, :P

I'm still not sure. I didn't watch as much of Enterprise as I should have. I do plan to eventually binge it, and all other pre-Abrams Trek.

The only even *remotely* canonically stated bit about Andorians and honor I got from Enterprise, was that Shran owed Archer a favor, and he *literally* could not sleep until he returned that favor. The Klingons *literally* built their entire civilization around honor... More so than "glory" at very least, come on now.

I'd probably concede that it's the Klingons. Even if a Klingon, like one of the Duras family, might behave dishonorably when they can get away with it, they were still very much concerned with their honor in the eyes of their fellow Klingons. Hell, honor and tradition kept Klingons using the bat'leth in ritualistic duels for a long time. I mean, the few Klingons we see actively choose to fight with swords instead of bat'leths during duels are honorless cowards like Duras.

Klingons are pretty honor obsessed to the point where an insult against one's honor is probably gonna lead to someone fucking dying.

I don't remember andorians being much into honor (or anything really, not much talk about it in the series besides some exposition), but it's been a while. the whole "honor" thing with shran always felt more like a personal trait to make him look more positive - like, whatever he might be or do that kind of debt is something he takes serious, not necessarily from society enforced honor code or something but being important to him.

ah, the good old times when characters still had some depth...

Trubble is we don't get much outa the Andorians. Just the taste we get in ENT as they don't really appear in anything else.

Which is a shame as a founding member of the Fed it be nice to know more about them.
The same goes for the Tellarites.

I rest the case for @UnKillFill

For what it's worth, I pegged honor and glory as Andorian and Klingon interests, respectively, because I was racking my brains for any specific Andorian cultural obsession without much success. Since Shran's hilarious maniacal determination to settle his debt of honor to Archer seemed like the next best thing, I decided to split the "Honor/Glory" difference between the Andorians and the Klingons on the basis of, well, pretty much the same logic as @ExceptionallyExceptional. Thinking about it again, though, I'd probably set the Andorians' overriding trait as "Tradition" since, from the very little that we've seen of them, that seems to be something that they may perhaps put more of a specific emphasis on for its own sake than the other major races (thinking of Shran's seeming family history of military service, the Andorian practice of fighting duels with those wacky ice-pick things, their custom of passing down the names of famous vessels through the ages, etc). Thanks to @UnKillFill for the shout-out, BTW. 😎

How many times does the script mention "space", or even "star" (including starfleet)?
Over 100 instances for Star, which is at least vaguely reasonable.

11 instances of "fuck" in the script for Terminator... Alex Kurtzmann is clearly an edgy 14 year old who was Freaky Friday'd into a scriptwriter.
