Just an FYI I'm only on the last couple episodes of S1 of DS9. Like I said earlier I really didn't watch it much during it's original run so just treat it as if I've never seen it before, because that's mostly true. I didn't know there was a Ezri Dax and I'm resisting the urge to wiki it now. Realistically I know I won't be able to avoid most spoilers and I know a lot simply through osmosis but stuff like the Bashir being genetically engineered I didn't (not that I'm going to be mad at anyone here over spoilers so please don't feel the need to censure yourselves, this is a 20+ year old show.).

Just remember that this show's version of Riker growing his beard is Sisko shaving his head.

Oh that's right, Thomas Riker has a bigger role in DS9 doesn't he?
Not really tbh, only 1 guest appearance. I'm sorry for spoiling stuff for you. :(

I don't recommend spoiling anything for yourself that you don't have to. I will say, if you like Season 1, most people (myself included) actually consider it to be one of the weaker seasons of the show (not in an "it's bad" way, in an "it only gets better from here" way.)

Season 1 has been a blast so far, I'm loving it. I think my favorite episode so far has been Duet because of how fucking complex it is. I know it's an obvious Holocaust callback but it was done so well.

They were planning on doing more with him, but that just never materialized and its just a one off. A really good one off that actually does something with the character other than just make it a "what if" for original Riker, but a one off none the less.

I would suggest not looking up Ezri, its better for you to experience it yourself.

If it makes you feel any better, Bashir still has some surprises in store for you. You clicked this, didn't you? You can't complain about spoilers if you're going to click on them.

Back in the 1960s, it was believable that in the 23rd century, computers would still be mostly blinking lights and buttons. If the ST timeline were real now, it'd be smartphones and 2020 PCs evolving into blinking lights somehow, then back to touchscreens.

I kinda like the zeerusty TOS computer interfaces

TNG's computer interfaces seemed pretty futuristic circa 1990, but has its own flavor of zeerust (giant bezels, LCARS, touchscreens everywhere even though that's probably not a good idea to control a warp-capable starship where the bridge crew get ragdolled every other episode)

Maybe you'd want something more in the way of augmented reality, with different crew members having a virtual overlay of context specific information (navigation would see star maps, engineering would see reactor power readings, command would get a high level abstracted view of tactical information)

It's too bad they didn't bring him back for a prison break episode during the Dominion War. They could have had him and Worf butt heads with each other.

Apparently Nichelle Nichols is suffering from dementia, and has possibly been taken advantage of by her manager :(

Edit: Also, fuck whoever wrote the byline- "She has beamed into an out-of-this-world legal battle." Seriously, go fuck yourself.

Q comes back but the character is played by a woman now because Q decided “female is the superior gender” or something
It was either this thread or the RLM thread where I guessed that Q would be played by Melissa McCarthy and be allowed to ad-lib all of her lines.

Imagine her appearing before Picard, sitting on the edge of a desk, big fat hamhock legs crossed, retarded smirk on her face, saying "Sup, JL?"

That is so horrifically plausible, and I hate it.

It's a pretty good series I always enjoyed the darker trek. But as others have said dont look up Ezri you'll spoil huge stuff for yourself if you do.

Bashir was the Geordi of DS9.
They're nothing alike, other than trying to bang all time. Geordi had a weird temper where every five episodes or so he'd get super pissed for no reason before instantly cooling off, also for no discernable reason. Geordi sealed the deal with the bitches all the time though.
