This may have come up in the course of this thread, so forgive me if it has. But after re-watching TNG on Pluto and having done a deep dive back into DS9 on Netflix a few months ago, I have come to a conclusion.

Keiko O'Brian is a fucking bitch.

I just realized... Gene Roddenberry had nothing at all to do with DS9... And it's good.
It was still operating within the general framework of his vision while taking an honest poke at deconstructing some of his idealism and how it would conflict with reality. I know the word "deconstruction" is real fucking soiled these days, and for good reason, but when done well and with a level of understanding and respect as to why the thing being deconstructed is enjoyed and loved, it can work incredibly well and be a real asset to a story so long as it does not start deconstructing for the sake of edginess/drama in a way that adds nothing to a story.

They're nothing alike, other than trying to bang all time. Geordi had a weird temper where every five episodes or so he'd get super pissed for no reason before instantly cooling off, also for no discernable reason. Geordi sealed the deal with the bitches all the time though.
Well... if Wesley spent most of his time in your department, wouldn't you be pissed off now and then?

The best example of how DS9's writers viewed Roddenberry purist trek has to be the scene where garak and quark discuss Root Beer. They talk about how insidious and subverting the federation is, but at the same time they are hoping it wins because its the best possible future despite the flaws. That is DS9 in a nutshell, they reveal the dark underbelly but ultimately respect and love star trek despite its flaws.

I loved Quark's tacit admission in that conversation that he liked both Root Beer and the Federation.

What were everyone's favorite episodes across the entire franchise?

For TNG, I gotta say I'm a big fan of "Loud as a Whisper"; especially the part where Geordi and the negotiator meet and there's some character exploration. And "We'll Always Have Paris", mainly for this sequence:

Damn that was cool.

For TNG:

Cause and effect
Q Who
The Defector
BOBW pt 1

My guilty pleasure is probably Clues. Especially the first time you see it. "Data lying? Why?"

Even with STNG, he had very little to do with it after season two.

His contribution to the first two seasons was pretty limited, he was recycling scripts that had originally been commissioned in the 1970's for an earlier Star Trek TV series that never went into production.

It's an old joke at this point but I like to imagine that Miles couldn't tell the difference when she was possessed by a rage banshee (forgot if it was a Pah Wraith) that one time.

The way she treated Molly in the episode where she came back feral kinda showed that.

What were everyone's favorite episodes across the entire franchise?

TOS - City on the Edge of Forever, Squire of Gothos, Who Mourns For Adonis, Balance of Terror

The Animated Series - Yesteryear, The Magicks of Megas-Tu

TNG - Measure of a Man, Sins of the Father, The Best of Both Worlds parts 1 and 2, Q-Who

Still need to watch DS9 and I don't really have any favorite episodes from Voyager or Enterprise, though I will say I didn't think the series finale for Enterprise was as bad as everyone made it out to be.

Eh, Enterprise's ending is pretty shit.
Its just disappointing more than anything else. You have Shran go from badass commander to fugitive criminal, Trip dies and its never acknowledged or has an impact on the crew for the rest of the episode outside the scene with archer and T'pol that it precedes, the entire episode is trying to be a Riker TNG episode and a proper enterprise episode and does neither well (it also just spits in the face of enterprise fans by trying to do this), and we don't actually get to see Archer's speech that heralds the creation of the federation that has been built up for four seasons.

Its a pretty poor showing and obvious it was rushed together due to the news that the show was being shitcanned. It actually reminds me of Babylon 5's season 4 ending, but shit.

Holy shit I should watch the animated series. Is it any good or is it limited by the animation?

The animated series had about a dollar for animating each episode. But it did allow them to get a bit more alien with things, they added two alien as fuck crew members which I always enjoyed. The scripts are rushed, as it was a shorter show but there are some fun times to be had and some nice moments.

What were everyone's favorite episodes across the entire franchise?
TOS: The Ultimate Computer, Balance of Terror
TNG: Relics, Q Who?, Family
DS9: Duet, Improbable Cause/The Die is Cast, Little Green Men
VOY: Equinox, Year of Hell
ENT: Regeneration, The Andorian Incident, First Flight, Home, Dead Stop, Demons/Terra Prime

Indeed but we see him give a speech to the Coalition of Planets in the actual final episode of Enterprise (Terra Prime).

I was playing Star Trek Online today and decided to punish myself by playing the Discovery story arc. I created a strong, sexy, 6'2" tranny named Priscilla Jewel Itsmaam. Xe/xir will be the captain of the first all-tranny crew in Starfleet, in command of the USS Yasqueen.

Also, Tilly has a bunch of lines and she's fucking insufferable as always.
