Not to downplay it, still scummy (even if the US had few options) but it is an apt lesson on how perspective can matter. If your brain can interpret a racist act into one of kindness, it could also interpret innocent acts into racism.
The Japanese living in CONUS were loyal AF to the U.S.A. while the Japanese living in Hawaii still had a lot of loyalists to the Japanese Empire. Interning the CONUS Japanese and stealing everything they owned while not laying a finger on the Hawaiian Japanese is a massive FU. Given the Japanese Empire loyalists had aided the IJN in the lead up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. But were uninterned due to making up most of the local work force.

Well, "sexy Vulcan" was a dumb concept from the beginning. Whoever thought of that idea needs to be locked in a cell with Stephen Collins.

The actor who played Icheb had to flee the set on multiple occasions, to hide his erection. (True story. He talks about it at conventions.)

There's no denying that sex sells, but the addition of Borg Kids always struck me as tone-deaf. They're chasing an adult audience while blatantly trying to cultivate a new audience for the next 30 years of fandom.
Remember how kids in the 60's liked Star Trek even though there were NO regular kid characters?

Just to challenge you on some of this: Dr. Selar showed it can be done. Seven was a Vulcan in all but name. And I'm sure there are other fictional examples.

I think Berman just miscasted the part, as often happened on ENT.
Kim Cattral was a hot Vulcan.

There are plenty of hot Vulcan ladies, I agree. But I feel they were Vulcan first and just happened to be attractive.
The folks that made Enterprise decided to make the Vulcan the T&A character for whatever reason. It just seems bizarre.

And, unpopular opinion, I thought "sexy Borg" was a dumb idea too. I don't have a problem with T&A, but only TOS was able to pull it off right, IMHO.

If she wasn't a talented actress the whole tits and ass thing would have become as patronizing as T'Pol oiling up every other episode. Really though the acting was not the problem with Voyager, it was the writing and consistency. Janeway, Tuvok, The Doctor, Seven, Torres, all would have more than held their own as characters on TNG/DS9. Although Torres is the weakest link since it took them like 4 seasons to delve deeper than "angry klingon mutt yells at people".

I'm hopeful with the Picard season 2 teaser hitting today. I'm one of the few people here who actually likes season 1 of Picard. Looking forward to the second season. These two haven't interacted since 1994 and Q is going to call Picard out on a ton of shit.
