It also really torpedoes the idea that Garak is gay as it reveals he had a crush on Cardassia for many years. (maybe bi, but definitely not gay)

I would be more than a few people hated it for that reason.

Of course part of the fun is that since it is an autobiography by Garak the tagline for the book should have been: "It's all true - especially the lies."
Garak is missionsexual

I thought we all already agreed on this, -_- Garek was whatever sexuality his Cardassia needed him to be.

It's true, Garek totally flirted with Bashir early on in DS9... but Bashir, while clearly being super horny most of the time (no doubt a result of his genetic engineering,) spends most of his time pining over Dax (both of them) and that random Dabo bimbo. We only ever see him go gay for O'Brien, a man who was not only married with children, but more based against Cardassians than most. "Bashiarek" was never going to happen.

I think the whole Garak being a homofag was just purely conjecture from people who wanted it to happen, and the whole Behr saying that he was in What We Left Behind was just woke 2010s pandering. The only time you see any sort of sexuality from Garak in the show was when he was with Dukat's daughter.

Garak / Bashir was clearly a thing until Garak was going through withdrawals and then Bashir went running to Miles.

You can be close friends with and even love another male without being a homosexual. I know this is completely lost on modern society.

dude I've been bros with lots of guys, I never rapegrabbed their shoulders like that early DS9 ep of Garak on Bashir

Come on man, I literally just halfway shipped Bashir and O'Brien... And yet I still see no actual evidence that Julian ever reciprocated the (let's be honest, clearly not entirely genuine) feelings that early Garek expressed towards him, and it isn't even like that stayed a thing for the rest of the show.

Julian was clearly gay as all af, he just flirted to keep up kayfabe.
but yeah after that one ep Bashir and Garak totally stopped being a thing and Julian jumped over to Miles so they could act out "it's not gay because we're about to die in war" in the holosuites

I would at best agree that Julian was whatever the LGBTfhjfhsedhkfrh term for "He would fuck people of multiple genders if he at least thought that he had a chance with them," but I never saw any evidence of him flirting back with Garak. But yeah, I agree he was at least a bit bisexual. He definitely wanted Miles by the end of the show, but he was also clearly thirsty for Dax, both of them. He even ended up with Ezri.

The only thing I'm not really sure about was if Miles ever truly wanted him back... My gut feeling is no, but then again, I'm not married to Keiko...

Miles is too goddamn Irish to be gay. Even if he left Keiko, he wouldn't turn to dick he'd just drink more.

yeah I'm not gay, but if my choice was Bashir or Cakehole I'd def be hitting Bashir's bussy
