Cumberbatch as Khan pissed me off immensely. It was not accidental that TOS in the 60s very clearly coded Singh’s “genetically superior” humans as not-white. When you are dealing with a decades old mega franchise, be a little respectful of the source material.

I thought Karl Urban was pretty good but I hated Simon Pegg being cast as Scotty.
Chris Pine, Karl Urban, and the Russian kids who's name I can't remember were the only good casting choices in JJ Trek.

Just finished a big TNG binge starting with the TV show and ending with Picard, which I had never seen before. I originally skipped Picard because I had seen the complaints and was worried they ruined the character. I was pretty surprised when I found myself really enjoying it. Could have easily dropped a few episodes to help the story, but otherwise, I really loved it, and I am very excited for season 2. Also

Watching Data finally get the thing he wanted, to be human in dying, was great. The little smile when he starts to age. Fuck that was good.
The biggest issue for me is I'm not a fan of the structure of modern television where an entire season of a show essentially only tells one story and every episode ends in a cliffhanger like Coronation Street. I'm a much bigger fan of the more episodic nature of TOS and TNG, where there is some continuity, but each episode is its own little self contained unit for the most part.

I also find the characters in new Trek overly emotional and that doesn't work for me. That is what's in now, so it's not totally on the producers, but it doesn't work for me personally.

On those two points alone I didn't like it, besides the little nit picks I had like the magic dildo that could fix anything. If you liked it though, more power to you.

I will say that was a a big switch to get use too. Going from TNG one story one episode to Picard's one story one season, however I also find it to be a good thing to never stick to one thing. How often do we hear fans complain about how a sequel show is too often like the original. A little experimenting is never bad in my eyes.

Also here's to hoping Strange New World's goes back to the episodic nature of Trek.

If you change it too much, it becomes something else, and the crew seem redundant. Bringing Seven of Nine back was completely pointless, and Picard had no reason to be there.

Oh, another thing that pissed me off about Abrams!Trek: Uhura.

Uhura was made out to be a STRONG SASSY BITCH who demanded respect from her crewmates. In TOS, she didn’t need to demand respect from her crewmates: they already respected her and her skills at her job. The new!crew were less accepting than the old crew.

It pissed me off that the remake was Making Statements about diversity circa 2010 when the whole point of TOS was that the circa 1960 issues about diversity would not fucking matter centuries later in a galaxy full of other humanoid - and non humanoid! - species. Your particular flavour of human identity wouldn’t matter a shit to your Andorian buddy.

I still find it kind of amazing that Abrams was paid to take a massive shit over both the space megafranchises.

The silver lining of GoT Season 8 burning the IP down to ashes is that its killed the trend of GoT actors being shoehorned into every other movie.

And Kirk is competing for her affections. That's sure to endear him to his friend Spock.

F*ck this reboot.

"There's an otherwise great scene where [Finn Jones] confronts Sigourney Weaver and other members of The Hand in a conference room, and he threatens them as if he's lecturing a restaurant manager for getting his sushi order wrong." - Brad Jones

Source? (I mean besides Brad, where did he say this?)

Other good lines:

"Danny Rand sneaking around in a hoodie looks kinda like a Backstreet Boy avoiding paparazzi that just isn't there."
"Harold Meachum scenes are way better than Danny yelling at Colleen as if she just took his last can of Stag."
"When he reacts violently and says things like, 'I need to find my Chi', it just reminds me of when they tried making Taylor Lautner an action hero."
"Danny does spend a lot of time in this episode unconscious, probably having nightmares about the next Unicorn Frappuccino that he has to make."
Yeah it sounded like worth a watch so thanks. Looking forward to it.

Come to think of it, I was quoting his review of Defenders.

I recommend both videos. Danny really brings out his inner Don Rickles.

Before we drop Babylon 5, I was recently watching Alien Nation and got quite interested when I noticed they were using the same guy who played G'Kar, so I'd finally see him without makeup.
Surely you've seen The Fugitive on cable? He's the guy who framed Harrison Ford.

Of course he was in some other stuff, namely TNG and 24: The Game.

(I didn't just look that up on iMDB; I rented it when it was new. Christian Kane also makes an appearance.)

Christian Kane? Underrated actor. In a just universe he would have an action movie series to his name.

Shame we never got to see him beat up Wil Wheaton.

Yeah he sucks in that role.

I loved Sean of the Dead, but Pegg as Scotty doesn't work, I'm just not sure if it's the writing that's to blame or him.

I'm not sure what's worse, the wild-eyed overcaffeinated acting style or his attempt at an accent.

There is only and has only ever been one true Mr Scott.-and he will beam anyone up to sainthood when their time to go as he promised anyone telling him to beam them up would be.

Pegg as Scotty was as cringe as Bill Burr finally making it into a Star wars production as he said he always wanted to for years.
Was the only retard dumb enough to keep pestering a mandalorian to take their helmet off and god forbid he wouldnt let a wookie win even if it cost his character's arms.

He's miscast, but then he's not playing Scotty. He's playing a retarded kid version of Scotty just like the rest. He's 51 years old. That's three years older than Anson Mount. Nobody looks to Scotty as an elder, because he doesn't act like one.
