Star Trek: Picard should be hauled away as garbage!

Nemesis problem was that they expressly and obviously tried to rip off Wrath of Khan.

The problem was that Picard had no potential arch-nemesis to draw from like Kirk. The closest is the Borg (which is why FC is really TNG's "wrath").

The invention of the clone is so utterly stupid and pointless to try and give SOME connection between the hero & villain. Why is Bane so intent on hunting down Picard? There's no real drive there othere than a more vague philosophical "what is the measure of a clone."

Question for anyone who keeps up with the Star Trek cast: who are the most lolcow members, outside of the more infamous people like Wheaton?

Jennifer Lien by a mile. It's one of those "we don't talk about that" subjects.

Not really a cow, but one of the bit players on TOS quit showbiz and joined the hippie movement. Remember Riley?

God, has he ever shut up about being a raging faggot or Japanese internment?
No, I don't believe he has. And also he still clearly has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. (I don't follow the guy on twitter- I don't even *have* a twitter... And yet..) I have somehow seen more than one tweet from him still seething about "orange man bad" even after Biden was 'elected'.

Nevermind the fact that Biden, who I'm assuming he loves, has *far* more in common with FDR (i.e. the man who actually ordered him and his family to be put in a camp in the first place) than Trump ever did.

George wants so badly to be Elie Weisel.

Elie was a big proponent of evicting Arabs, so I guess he had selective memory.

Speaking of that: If you want a recipe for a one-party state, ethno-nationalism is the way. Worked for Roosevelt, worked in Australia, and the UK is about to send Arabs to St. Helena.

as much as Takei is a bitch in general, he really was interred in a camp so he does have some pretty legit room to complain compared to most people
You aren't completely wrong... but it's also pretty clear that the fact that he's a homo matters more to him than it does that he was persecuted by America's first socialist president when he was younger. He's basically embraced almost everything that FDR stood for, in the years since. (aside from jailing the japs, I'm guessing.)

The one good thing I will say about Takei is that he was actually opposed to Sulu being a homo (because it didn't make any fucking sense at all if you'd been following the character before... There was more than one time where he was obviously shown to be straight.) He upheld that opinion even after Jar Jar Abrams went out of his way to make Sulu gay in the Kelvin timeline. (in a way that could be easily cut in certain Asian markets, because of course we still want their money... and chinks don't like faggots, even if said faggots are also chinks. >.>)

Edit: Kelvin Sulu is Korean I think. I would still wager that's a hell of a lot more thinking than Jar Jar Abrams did. And obviously I used the term "chink" ironically, even though that's who they cut the scene for.

What's with the Picard season 2 poster featuring the present day?

I recoil in horror of what these writers would write with Picard coming to the current year.

Takei is that he was actually opposed to Sulu being a homo
A stopped clock is right twice a day. If he has anything nice to say about any Star Trek besides TOS, I missed it. He lobbied hard to star in his own TOS-era series.

I mean, it's telling that this is the one good thing I have to say about Takei, but considering everything else about him... I still think it's somewhat impressive that he didn't just come out and demand that Sulu be gay (remember, he came out of the closet years after TOS ended), just because he was. I like to give credit where it's due...
Side note: He lobbied hard to star in his own TOS-era series.
I don't actually think any less of Takei for wanting his own series. Star Trek: Excelsior could have been decent, depending on when it was made. (Obviously if they made it now, it would be shit, but I would have watched it if it was made after the Voyage episode.)

I'm actually surprised that Trek hasn't taken a supporting character from a main series and made them the main character yet. They've had so many to choose from...

I would have also been happy to see Star Trek: Worf, but it's probably too late for that now.
