Marina Sirtis and Patrick Stewart both have some shitty, lolcow hot takes.
Patrick Stewart is such a disappointing person. Watching TNG you get the impression that he's this reserved, classy actor who respects the writing and understands his character when actually it's the complete opposite.

I'm watching DS9 and I get to the episode "Faith, Treachery, and The Great River" and at one point O'Brien calls Colonel Kira "Karla" when she's confronting him about the missing desk. Either that's a slip of the tongue on Colm Meaney's part, or Miles has himself a pet name for Kira for some reason.

I mean, at one point they were getting pretty damn close to banging. I wonder if it didn't end up happening.

Wait... maybe THAT'S why O'Brien stays with Keiko. She swings both ways and is down with threesomes.

It was pretty funny how they seemed to foist the idea that Kira was a sexpot and that everyone wanted her. At one point my wife was rewatching the show. I came in during one random episode and asked what was going on. "I dunno, someone's after Kira...again".

Her persona in the alternate universe was a dominatrix. If they were faithful to the spirit of that concept she should have been a space nun instead of just a different flavor trollop.

To be fair, Nana Visitor's ass should have gotten it's own casting credit.

Yeah, Nana is cute and all but I always thought Dax was way sexier (for a meatbag - obviously Ben Sisko's Motherfucking Pimp Hand was the actual sexiest cast member). Not sure why half the local sector wanted Kira. You could play a drinking game of it.

On reflection you half wish they had made Kira the one to pursue Odo just for the novelty.

I didn't like how Kira seemed to be fucking her way to power. First she hooks up with the candidate for Space Pope and then hooks up with the President of the Planet.

BTW, that First Minister Shakar guy was a total idiot and asshole. I wish he was the boyfriend that died instead of Bariel. Remember when he was throwing a temper tantrum when Kira was giving birth because he didn't want O'Brien to see Kira's vagina?

Perhaps Nemesis had been a much better movie if it was a direct sequel to Generations, after Picard finds out that he loses his family and then he finds the closest to a "son".
I felt it was a good bookend to generations in that regard.
You could make a good sci fi version of Spartacus, but Star Trek: Nemesis wasn't it because it wasn't fun or interesting enough to make most people who suffered through that movie care.

TNG already did a What If episode about Picard's life that was way more satisfying than asking "what if Picard was a genocidal asshole who looked nothing like Picard?"
I will say that they should have kept in the deleted scene were he's meeting with the Romans. It established how he's spent years powerbrokering behind the scenes. There's almost 26 mins of the movie that shouldn't have been cut out.

Nemesis is rather quaint these days in how it doesn't hold the audience's hand and assumes people are paying attention. I miss those times.

Half of Nemesis is the most badass fight in star trek, how is it not fun?

We all love that episode, but I feel like your missing the point. This isn't about an alternate Picard. It's about another soul, born to be a replacement for Picard, discarded and forced to forge his own destiny. I consider this one of the best clone movies ive ever seen, in how it examines the impact that would have have on a clone's psyche. Just the sheer yearning to step out of the shadows and not be judged for appearances sake.

Nemesis problem was that they expressly and obviously tried to rip off Wrath of Khan.

The problem was that Picard had no potential arch-nemesis to draw from like Kirk. The closest is the Borg (which is why FC is really TNG's "wrath").

The invention of the clone is so utterly stupid and pointless to try and give SOME connection between the hero & villain. Why is Bane so intent on hunting down Picard? There's no real drive there othere than a more vague philosophical "what is the measure of a clone."
Nemesis does, but it feels less like a ripoff and more of a homage to me. its biggest failing is probably the fact that it relies too heavily on continuity for it to make as big an impact on normies.

As I said before, Shinzon needs Picard's body in order to survive and beat the clone degeneration. He likely wouldn't have gone after him in the first place otherwise, but his calm measured approach starts to break down as the movie progresses. Then he starts getting more and more unhinged. I really like the make up that depicts him slowly falling apart throughout the film.

I mean, it's telling that this is the one good thing I have to say about Takei, but considering everything else about him... I still think it's somewhat impressive that he didn't just come out and demand that Sulu be gay (remember, he came out of the closet years after TOS ended), just because he was. I like to give credit where it's due...

I don't actually think any less of Takei for wanting his own series. Star Trek: Excelsior could have been decent, depending on when it was made. (Obviously if they made it now, it would be shit, but I would have watched it if it was made after the Voyage episode.)

I'm actually surprised that Trek hasn't taken a supporting character from a main series and made them the main character yet. They've had so many to choose from...

I would have also been happy to see Star Trek: Worf, but it's probably too late for that now.

Shattered universe is the closest we will ever officially get to a Captain Sulu focused series.

I'll be honest. I don't think anger comes naturally to Nana. She said as much in interviews. Nana is sexiest when she's batting those eyelashes or showing vulnerability. The part was written for Forbes' temperment and you can tell.

Kira mostly dated Bajorans. Nobody watching DS9 cared about Bajorans. It's probably the biggest chink in the show's armor.

Problem #2: Kira uniformly dated Bajorans. Nobody watching lkes Bajorans.

Ipso facto, all of those subplots were a waste of time. It's probably the biggest chink in this show's armor: the dreary planet they're on.
Ira Behr has spoken before about how they got a metric shit fuck ton of fan mail to bring Phillip Anglim back as Bareil. However, the writers didn't want it and wanted to push Shakaar despite Bareil being the fan favorite.
