Am I the only one who didn't see Section 31 as villains and actually kind of agreed with Sloan?
He told Julian "The Federation needs men like you, Doctor - men of conscience, men of principle, men who can sleep at night. You're also the reason Section 31 exists. Someone has to protect men like you from a universe that doesn't share your sense of right and wrong."
I see nothing wrong here. Good people often lack the ruthlessness required to get their hands dirty. And sometimes you need ruthless bastards watching over them, protecting them from other ruthless bastards who don't have the same scruples they do.
Hell, even the morphogenic virus which was portrayed as sooooo horrible was entirely justified given that we witnessed the aftermath of at least one attempted genocide by the Founders using their own bioweapons, and it's absolutely reasonable to assume that this wasn't the first such genocide they'd commited.
We literally only ever see one changeling that isn't a complete fucking asshole, and that was Odo.
Honestly the more I think about it, the more I recognize Sloan as a hero willing to risk his own life to preserve the Federation.
