I'm working my way through TNG for the first time and I regularly check each episode's cast on IMDB. I kept running into "ensign russell" but didn't recognize "her" and didn't look deeper into it. What a fuckin' trip... I just happened to dig into who ensign russell was when watching the episode "The Outcast". Total mindfuck.
If you click on his picture on IMDB it still calls him Carl David.View attachment 2335746
He needed the shirt to tell us who the fuck he played. Wonder if he was diddled by a tranny at the club his wife ran and he took it as a sign to troon out.

I would watch this, but I think the "planet based on something from past Earth" was already been done a lot. TNG has "The Royale".If you let me make a Star Trek series right now I know exactly what I would do. Base the entire show on an unused script from DS9. Namely the OTHER script they had where they wanted to revisit a bit of TOS for the 30th anniversary of Trek.
Y'all remember that mafia planet that came about when a Starfleet exploratory team accidentally left a stash of literature on the planet and the people emulated the 1920's Chicago Mob? Well the DS9 team wanted to do an episode about them, except this time their knack for imitation would have led them to imitate something other than the mafia, namely they would have imitated the TOS era Federation. The Iotians were essentially supposed to have become more or less your stereotypical Trek fan put into a position of getting to live out their Trek fantasies.
Which is moronic considering the plot involved the discovery of what looked to be the cure for all medical problems. I know I said movies need more action scenes than the tv show, but here is the chance for scenes featuring a real doctor and how this would positively or negatively affect humanity and other races.Right. In FC, her 'fight' scene took place in sickbay. She was in her element. In Insurrection, they just needed something for Bev to do.
I still say the fountain of youth radiation is a narcotic. One that actually sterilizes the inhabitants, which as Plinkett pointed out, is why the B'aku village remained around 300 instead of in the thousands. Angel One and The Ensigns of Command managed to develop into cities based on crash landings. It would also explain why the S'ona are busy with plastic surgery instead of teaching the next generation of S'ona to wage war against the B'aku.I would watch this, but I think the "planet based on something from past Earth" was already been done a lot. If I could make a new show, it'd probably be ST: Starfleet Academy. I'd make Barkley one of the characters, someone who's reluctant to be a teacher due to his insecurities, but does it at the end.

There, done. A single line of dialog which fixes the movie. The price of immortality is that it robs you of the will to leave.the fountain of youth radiation is a narcotic.
Those were pretty good episodes I remember watching them on a late night rerun sometime in the early 2000's. The end ending of the episode with Wesley has a pretty good plot twist too.I had totally forgotten that ezri and the T1000 were in an outer limits episode.

Major John Skokes is taken prisoner during an interstellar war and thrown into a dark cell, where he meets an imprisoned female cadet. After...theouterlimits.fandom.com
And the sequel to that one is Wesley blowing up Earth.
That it so often aired in blocks with Star Treks and Stargates made it even better. Sometimes if you were lucky, in one night you got to see an actor appear in several different shows. Those were pretty good episodes I remember watching them on a late night rerun sometime in the early 2000's. It's weird how Starfleet Intelligence made him their mole in the Orion Syndicate. As the episode goes on, you realize he's perfect for it. He already looks like a schlub who's down on his luck.Kinda makes sense, but it really does look weird without knowing why. Just seems they wanted the poor bastard to suffer.
Did you typo? Not going to an Academy usually means you end up as enlisted. Academies turn out officers. The other advantage is that he's not an enlisted man. "Starship Down" confirms that Miles didn't go to the Academy, nor did his staff.
The catfight with Yar and Yareena was, visually at least, kind of interesting.Code of Honor was less embarrassing than it's reputation suggests.
Everything about him is unappealing, including his Danny DeVito Penguin hands. And the moment I saw The Traveler I skipped an episode because I hated that fucking character.
The first season of TNG is total dogshit IMO outside of maybe Conspiracy and the season finale. If you can power through it, it gets much better.Finished watching DS9. Moved onto TNG. Encounter at Farpoint was okay, but it wasn't really good enough to justify being the pilot or a 2 parter. Code of Honor was less embarrassing than it's reputation suggests. The Ferengi's first appearance was cringe, fuckers kept jumping around like agitated monkeys. And the moment I saw The Traveler I skipped an episode because I hated that fucking character.
The good thing is that, due to the episodic nature of the show, if you are getting fed up you can just skip ahead to Season 2 or 3. You can always circle back if you like. I don't think S1 is quite as terrible as some, it's more like a missing link between the Original Series and what TNG will become.Finished watching DS9. Moved onto TNG.
