Let's not the time some Fandalorians did a *dance* for Karen Traviss.

My personal favorite authors were Zahn, of course, Aaron Allston (RIP) and Michael Stackpole.

The absolute worst book though was probably The Crystal Star -- I don't even remember what that shit was about.

Luceno is a good author. Highly recommend Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader. Even if itS canonicity is now unconfirmed, It'll give you a real insight into the forces (yes I did that) that shaped Vader into who he was, post Mustafar. He had to rebuild himself from the ground-up.

The audiobook version is a real treat too. It's like listening to a movie with the TV off.

The new EU books are good. Heir to the Jedi was a little wooden but feels like a plausible bridge between wild eyed farmboy Luke and hardened soldier Luke by the time of ESB.

Let's see if I can revive this thread a bit.

Been reading more of Marvel's Darth Vader series. As of Issue #5, space whales are officially canon.

Well, they already had space slugs as per ESB.

Been reading more of Marvel's Darth Vader series.

I noticed that at the end of Issue #01, it pans out to reveal that Vader's standing in front of the burning remnants of a sand people village, with the corpses of Tusken Raiders strewn about. This is just after the Emperor rips him a new one and tells him he's going to be reporting to someone else, not in charge. It reminded me of AOTC, when Anakin's mom dies in the sand people camp and he goes nuts and kills them all.

It's like whenever Darth Vader is in a bad mood, his method of blowing of steam is to fly halfway across the galaxy and slaughter a group of sand people.

well on the plus side Star Wars (2015) 5 shows us that maybe the holiday special isn't canon.

till you know some special spark decides to make life hell by referencing life day.

It wouldn't be so bad. All that would do is confirm that Life Day exists. Not anything about it.

It's still to much. any chance of a second one of these need's to be stopped.

But if you get rid of the Holiday Special, you get rid of the fact that guardrails actually exist in the Star Wars Universe.;)

Late to the game in this thread. The Star Wars Internet fandom is what made me abandon the series entirely. Too many fans seem to think that EU is just as good as the original films when the sweeping majority of EU is pure crap. Aside from the Zahn novels, there ain't much I liked: Shadows Of The Empire and Dark Forces was it, mostly. I also played the West End Games RPG for a long time before we ended up doing what EU and Disney will eventually do: populate the series with interconnected details, thus making it a continually smaller universe.

Most of the books were completely idiotic (there's a Star Destroyer buried under Imperial City! And it's a prison!), but occasionally there were alright. None of them were written as "high fantasy pulp" like the movies were, which made them feel like a different thing completely. As much as I loved the Thrawn trilogy, the whole political subplot stuff was awful.

I was also only mildly impressed with the KOTOR series, which seems to drive most people to a type of insanity Lovecraft could only detail. It's not that they were bad but they were especially good when you've read so much you can see plot twists and character arcs coming from the onset. Didn't like the music either.

EU was a fucking mess, but I would lie if I said that it wasn't a huge part of my Star Wars. the Dark forces/ jedi knight series has the best lightsaber combat in history of gaming. I am dead fucking serious. Then we have KOTOR and my favorite RPG of all time, KOTOR 2: The sith lords. With the restorations mod, it is one of the best gamestory ever.

What ain't no planet I ever heard of. They speak Basic on What?

Additionally, that dance... The hamfisted attempt at appropriate Polynesian culture to apply to their super awesome Space Maori... You can cut the autism with a knife.

Once I met a guy on a German Star Wars forum who talked about the Empire like it was a real-life political entity. He kept saying stuff like: "The Empire brought down unemployment and had a better economy than the weak unstructured Republic". When people disagreed with him he called them stuff like "liberal politically-correct pinko SJW lefties".

:stupid:
