Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

How do you think Starfield will turn out?

I guess the Starfield branded controller is real and has been popping up at Targets, most likely going to be announced and released the day of the Showcase. Shit looks gay as fuck with the whole prism motif that looks like a gay pride rainbow.

I'm seeing people get hyped for a collectors edition, completely forgetting the lame ass fake pip boy that came out with Fallout 4(?)

Starfield will be shit because Bethesda has no good writers. I love sci-fi, but I have zero excitement about this, because I know it will be the same old tedious Bethesda shit. They have enough money to find and hire competent people to write their plot and story, but they won't, because they think dumb slop is what people want. And they're right, because people keep buying that shit.

Just finishing up the Bethesda preview and I am quite excited.
I know it's heretical to enjoy things or feel optimism but what I'm seeing looks extremely fun and polished. There will probably be some janky stuff at launch but it looks like they learned from some of the mistakes from Fallout 76.
I don't know lads, I get being wary of every product in current year but I'm not jaded enough to say this doesn't look like one of the best games ever created. We'll see

oh FFS!

I appreciate you Fam

Given modern game devs' allergy to a plain male/female choice in character creation, I wonder how the availability of romance options will be determined. Will it be tied to the player-character's "body type"? Will the player-character select a sexual preference during character creation? Will all the romance options just be bisexual? I doubt it will be the last one as I'm still pretty sure game devs don't want to weird out their male target demographic.

On another note, a funny observation regarding the character creator:

The implication I'm getting is that you can give your guy a gay walk.

I'm excited for this. But I know my heart will be broken. I'll probably buy it a few years down the line on sale. Its No Man's Sky all over again. At least that game did get good. Hopefully Bethesda won't abandon it if its shit. But as long as it has mod support, it'll eventually become good.

Good thing I already own No Man's Sky, X3, and various other games.

The No Man's Sky influence in undeniable. And the problem with that game, still, is that the world feels empty of meaningful content despite how big it is. Taking that framework and fleshing it out with a Bethesda game going on inside it is gonna work out I think.
Mods will definitely happen but it'll be years.
I imagine about halfway through the game's lifespan we'll get some of online mode, maybe forked into a FO 76 sort of spinoff. That'd be tough on current hardware but the new gen will probably be released around then

Pretty sure FO4 made all romance options bisexual.

also, just saw that the game requires 125GB of space. As bad as that is, Baldur's Gate 3 is going to require 150GB. Wonder how much of that is due to the games actually being big and how much of it is due to shit optimization.

The same way it has been since Skyrim.

You can have a relationship with anyone, because it's easier to just program it that way than to program NPC's with having a particular taste or attraction.

I didn't hate what I saw with Starfield tbqh. I'm not expecting to be able to completely explore every planet, especially with how they phrased "landing areas" or whatever.

The biggest thing I'm interested in is the ship stuff. Building ships looks cool so far, I'm kind of intrigued by the idea of disabling ships, boarding them and hijacking them.

The mod to fix this to be male/female will be banned instantly because the Nexus is run by retards. But at least XEdit exists and makes it super easy to fix it yourself.

ship building looks cool, i'm always into giving players freedom of expression.

don't expect game to be anything better than "skyrim in space" though. NPCs reactions to getting shot and just general death animations were not super impressive.

I saw a guy get poked by a dagger in the video and he just died. There wasn't any impact or anything, just a fucking poke.

i also noticed they kept cutting away before any take down animations or anything like that.

like i said, it's gonna be a bethesda game. big giant open world with probably some pretty decent world building and huge attention to the minor details, actual gameplay wise, it'll be ok to a lil under average. but hey, that's where mods come in.
