Fallout 76 repeats itself. I'm so glad at least Japanese devs actually try and fit their games on discs. There are Blu-rays that can fit up to 100gb, they just don't want to spend the extra cost on them (even though I was told by consoomers the 70 dollar price tag is because physical or something) or to spend the time to compress their textures/audio instead of using uncompressed 8k textures or uncompressed audio. Games could cut down file size so much by properly optimizing their textures and audio. Textures scale exponentially with size, just release hd texture packs for consoles like they used to do on PC instead of forcing 100+gb downloads.

Both of those cities are technically impressive and gorgeous. Hell, I'll give RDR2 a ton of flak for the same thing as Bethesda, with that game's New Orleans stand-in being barely a dozen streets. Talk about disappointing, especially since there's a disturbing lack of crime aside from the Italian mob.

Yes. They have no idea how to do that, they'd suffer a stroke in the process of trying to unfuck everything they did when compressing it.
joke's on you, they could have easily removed the many bethesda videos in multiple languages and it would lift off 40gb no problem.
this is the whole Destiny 2 issue all over again but nu-bungo pulls it out of sheer incompetence and laziness, new devs do it out of fucking pride for not wanting to host extra files and just bundle everything together.
i can easily see the fittranny version of starfield being something like 80GB tops with all the videos and different localized voices removed.
 
Not even modders know how to optimize their shit properly. I have to go in my Skyrim mods and manually trim down textures, recompress to the DXT compression that only has the channels required, trim normal maps to half the size (no noticeable quality drop for the most part because its just a vector map, there are outliers, do it smartly). It's only going to keep getting worse now that Unreal has Nanite, devs will just use raw sculpts and 8k textures and let your PC optimize it for them. UE5 has a massive VRAM and RAM bottleneck because its constantly swapping in and out of memory.

Devs also refuse to use compressed files because muh loading times, despite everything requiring an SSD anyway now.

The only really viable career from modding would be art, or level design, and Bethesda modders fail at the art part since they don't know how to retopologize and just stick stuff in outfit studio. Modding is a lot easier than actually writing the game systems from scratch, they are just using all the existing actual game and just adding new things on top. It always makes me sneed when I see modders say they are better than Bethesda, as shit as Bethesda is at least they are actually making games, not just adding on to already existing things.

I was looking for some Skyrim mods like a couple months ago and saw some faggot absolutely lose his shit over the guy that made Falskaar because he said it was a really shitty mod compared to "modern standards"

Then I pointed out that mod actually got him a job at Bungie while all his favorite mod creators are begging for handouts on Nexus and he absolutely lost his shit lmfao

The delusions a lot of these fools have are ridiculous.

I mean, Falskaar isn't fantastic or anything but most of its credit comes from the fact that only one guy made the entire thing. Were it not for that, people would probably be more united in calling it bad/mediocre.

People pointed that out too and he just started blathering about it being bad was specifically why you needed big teams like Beyond Skyrim and taking 10+ years to get anything done, seemingly missing the whole point of the rebuttal.

I dunno, mods are fun but I'll be honest even 90% of the "great" shit people recommend to me for Skyrim ends up being janky shit that ultimately breaks something in the game that becomes a pain in the ass 20+ hours into a playthrough.

I've posted about this before in either the Beyond Skyrim thread or the Skyrim Modding thread, but the Beyond Skyrim team has a stranglehold on any province mod, they have ins with the admins of Nexus and will go out of their way to shut down any mod that does any provinces that aren't entirely fictional (as in made by the modder and not a canon elder scrolls location). There was a sole modder that made the entirety of Blackmarsh as a world space (no dungeons or NPCs) and Beyond Skyrim went after it like a rabid dog and got it DMCA'd for allegedly using a 'stolen' asset from BS (this is not true, the modder even went through it and checked). The project is dead, apparently the guy that made it just left modding and is now working with Unreal Engine to make his own game.

Anyone pointing to Beyond Skyrim in a positive light is retarded, they are too busy adding trannies to Morrowind and re-writing their own tranny lore to get anything done, for lurkers or those not in the know, go read the Beyond Skyrim community watch thread, there are Discord leaks if you want to see what they have been doing for a decade (Since I know the person I'm replying to already reads that thread)
