Starfield - Bethesda's new space IP: will probably be full of fun and easily trackable bugs

I sat through the painful experience of watching that dumbass bumble around the intro, and it looked fine. I didn't see anything going apeshit, the hangups could easily have been explained by the incompetence of the player, nobody was t-posing around, it was pretty much the same as FO4's intro, quality-wise. So no shock. It also failed to wow me in any way, and the contrived railroadyness of the story to get your ass in space was somewhat tiresome, but honestly that's no departure from the other Bethesda games, so whatever.

It's a thing that definitely exists. No telling yet whether it's got any real depth to it, but you can absolutely pew pew at other ships in space.

Yeah, for how much they've been touting how "living your life in space" as a selling point and how they don't even think most people will play the main quest, they sure do seem to just force you into it without any valid reason.

That's a terrible live action trailer. Live action trailers don't really work to sell video games except under rare circumstances. I'm guessing the purpose for Starfield's trailer is to evoke a sense of awe and discovery for the 9000 randomly generated planets you'll supposedly explore and the vastness of space, but I felt none of that.

Only a few live action trailers for video games done right come to mind. One of the most memorable ones for me are the Deus Ex Human Revolution in game product trailers and the riot coverage of Purity First faction. Now those trailers create a sense of awe and wonder and make you want to find out more. Touches like the url for Sarif Industries at the end makes it all feel so real.
